The woman put her hands on her hips, looked Meng Shuyun up and down, then spat on the ground and said viciously, "Get out, get out, I'm not renting this courtyard to you anymore."
"Li Cuihua, shut up! This is my house, I can rent it to whomever I want, it's none of your business to tell me what to do."
The old lady came out of the yard, her cane thumping loudly on the ground.
The woman named Li Cuihua didn't take the old lady seriously at all. She rolled her eyes at her and said, "Sister-in-law, you're moving out. How can you rent this house to outsiders?"
This is to be saved for my son Tiezhu to use when he gets married.
Now that you're moving in with your daughter to enjoy your retirement, we're the real family. I won't agree to you renting out this house.
Li Cuihua spoke unreasonably, while simultaneously beckoning the bricklayers into the yard to smash the wall, shouting loudly, "Smash it down! I'm in charge!"
Meng Shuyun quickly took the old lady's hand and gently comforted her, "Old lady, don't be angry. If you get sick from being angry, no one can take your place."
Let's sign the contract and pay the deposit first, then the house will be officially in my hands.
"If she dares to touch a single brick in this house, I'll make her pay until she's bankrupt."
Upon hearing this, the old lady was taken aback. She turned to look at Meng Kangshun beside her and said with a puzzled expression, "Hasn't the rental contract already been signed?"
When Meng Shuyun saw Meng Kangshun scratching the back of his head, she knew that he had secretly paid the money.
When was it submitted?
"Two days earlier," Meng Kangshun replied truthfully.
When he returned with his money, the first thing he did was to reserve the house.
I never expected to encounter such an unreasonable woman. Looking back now, I realize that I was a bit hasty in choosing this house.
“Li Cuihua, I rented this house a couple of days ago. If you dare to smash my walls, that's intentionally damaging my personal property. I have the right to sue you. I advise you to stop now, or I'll call the police right now, and you won't get any benefit from it.”
Upon hearing this, Li Cuihua glanced at Meng Shuyun sideways, gave a disdainful sneer, and said, "That's nonsense. I didn't agree. This is just a verbal promise. This house can't be rented to you. As long as I don't agree, this house isn't yours."
Seeing that she was so shameless, Meng Shuyun stopped arguing with her and directly told Meng Kangshun to call the police and ask a lawyer to come to the court.
Seeing Meng Shuyun's confident demeanor and her order to call the police, Li Cuihua couldn't help but feel uneasy.
What's the use of calling the police?
The police never interfere in family matters. Didn't they call the police when she and the old lady had such a bad fight before?
In the end, he went back without saying anything.
Meng Shuyun helped the old lady into the house and gently comforted her, "It's alright, old lady. When the police arrive, they will naturally uphold justice for us."
The old woman, however, recalled her previous experiences and knew that even if the police came, it would be futile. Her face was filled with guilt and helplessness, and she sighed, saying:
"Sister Meng, I'm so sorry, but even if the police come, they probably won't be able to solve anything. They don't handle family matters, sigh..."
By the time the police arrived, half of the courtyard wall had already been smashed.
As soon as the police arrived, one of them said irritably, "What, it's you again? Didn't we say that family matters should be resolved by the family members themselves? Don't call the police unnecessarily. You're just wasting police resources!"
Seeing this, Li Cuihua smiled helplessly and explained, "Officer, this wasn't something we called the police on our own! Some people did it on purpose, and we couldn't stop them."
Meng Shuyun stepped forward and approached the two police officers, saying, "Officers, I'm the one who called the police."
Then she added, "Officer, she deliberately damaged my yard wall; it's already half destroyed."
She smashed up my perfectly good house without my permission; that's deliberately damaging my personal property.
We are all law-abiding citizens, and of course we will seek help from the police when we encounter problems.
"Aren't you all family? Why are you talking like two different people? The wall was smashed, so what? Wouldn't it be more convenient for your two families to visit each other in the future?" the young policeman said casually.
Meng Shuyun coldly interrupted him, saying, "Who's family with her? I rented this courtyard, and I have a contract."
Li Cuihua also said from the side, "We won't rent our house to you. You can leave now. This has nothing to do with you."
"Officer, you know our relationship is a bit strained. We can settle this privately."
As she spoke, she chuckled, thinking to herself that if she could persuade the police officers to back down, then she would be in control of the matter.
"Two police officers, are you really not going to do anything about it?"
Meng Shuyun looked at them with piercing eyes.
"It's not that we don't care, it's just that this matter isn't under our jurisdiction, understand, ma'am!"
The slightly younger police officer spoke up angrily.
Meng Shuyun nodded, a cold smile on her face, and said, "Very well, I understand."
I feel it's necessary for me to write a letter of complaint and submit it to higher authorities. Is this how the People's Police serve the people?
My personal property was in danger, and they still didn't do anything. Is this the attitude a police officer should have when serving the people?
Upon hearing Meng Shuyun's words, the two police officers' faces immediately darkened.
Just then, Meng Kangshun arrived in a hurry with his lawyer.
The lawyer they hired was a man in his thirties, wearing black-rimmed glasses, who looked refined and cultured.
