Chapter 70 Your Son is Still a Young Man (Part Two)

Cao Maizi grinned. "That's more like it."

Wei Mingshen brought a bowl of corn cobs back into the house and, forcing himself to ask, "Does your stomach hurt?"

Su Xueli blushed when asked the question, knowing that he had heard it from his mother-in-law.

She shook her head and said, "It doesn't hurt yet. Hurry up and help me cut the thatch. Do as much as you can."

Wei Mingshen said, "Why are you working so hard? You can't earn all the money in the world, and we don't need to worry about food. Just quit."

Su Xueli said, "But we're in a hurry to get a divorce."

Wei Mingshen was momentarily speechless, and after thinking about it, he could only silently start a fire.

Su Xueli noticed that Wei Mingshen was cutting the thatch much faster than usual, and as soon as he finished, he quickly dyed the little figures she had woven.

She thought he was reminded of her and wanted to work harder, make more money, and get a divorce sooner.

Unexpectedly, Wei Mingshen suddenly said, "If I do these two jobs well, what else can I do for you? After you've done your usual daily work, you can go lie in bed and rest."

Su Xueli felt a warmth in her heart and replied calmly, "I'm not as capable as you. My stomach usually starts hurting tomorrow, so I'm fine today."

Wei Mingshen said "Oh".

"Shenzi, quickly take the brown sugar water to Xueli!" Cao Maizi called from outside.

Wei Mingshen quickly got up and went out, then immediately brought over a bowl of brown sugar water. He told her, "Drink it while it's hot."

Su Xueli took it; it was a little hot. She held it and drank it sip by sip.

Wei Mingshen, a rough man, didn't understand women's affairs. He looked at her and whispered, "Our mother told me to take good care of you and make sure you don't catch a cold. You can order me around whenever you want to do something."

Su Xueli recalled her previous life, when he didn't even know when she started her period. Once, he had been drinking outside and, for some unknown reason, pulled back the covers and took her. Only then did he realize she was on her period, and he angrily said, "When did you get your period?!"

Her hand holding the bowl trembled, and the brown sugar water spilled out.

"What's wrong?" Wei Mingshen noticed and quickly took the bowl from her hands.

Su Xueli calmed down and said, "It's okay."

Wei Mingshen asked, "Why are your hands suddenly shaking? Is it because you're on your period?"

Su Xueli chuckled, took the bowl back from his hand, and said, "You have quite the imagination."

Actually, Wei Mingshen was even more embarrassed than she was. This was a woman's private matter, and she wasn't his wife, so she should have avoided this topic.

I was forced to work.

"Auntie!" Zhao Di led Pan Di in through the door again.

They were worried about the unfinished cookies and candies on the table when they left at noon.

Su Xueli understood perfectly well. Pointing to the few cookies left, she said, "Eat the cookies first, then you candy."

The two little girls pounced on her and grabbed the cookies and candy, but instead of eating them, they held them in their hands and stared longingly at Su Xueli.

Su Xueli asked them affectionately, "Zhaozhao, Panpan, have you had lunch? Aren't you hungry?"

Zhao Di said, "Yes."

Su Xueli asked, "What did you eat?"

Zhao Di said, "Sweet potato."

Su Xueli laughed, "Why are you eating sweet potatoes during the Chinese New Year?"
