Su Xueli said, "Yes."
He Yujie blushed slightly and said, "Thank you."
Su Xueli smiled and said, "You're easy to take care of. You just sleep quietly and throw up occasionally."
He Yujie was amused by her words and said embarrassedly, "I threw up twice."
He looked at the clean floor of the room and said in a low voice, "Thank you for your hard work, I'm so sorry."
Su Xueli suddenly lowered her head and said, "Teacher He, I'm embarrassed. I... have no way to repay your kindness."
He Yujie understood. He took his glasses from the bedside table, put them on, and leaned against the headboard as if all his energy had been drained. He said, "Xueli, you don't need to blame yourself. You can't force matters of the heart. I don't blame you for anything. I just want to know what's going on between you and Wei Mingshen. You're divorced from him, but I can see that your feelings for each other haven't ended."
Su Xueli sat down and slowly told him, "Teacher He, you've heard before that I had a one-sided love for Wei Mingshen. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I married him because I wanted to."

He Yujie nodded, then asked, "And then?"
"Then he said that he didn't really love Lin Meizhi before, that he had broken up with Lin Meizhi, and that he had found out that he had fallen in love with me."
He Yujie's face turned deathly pale.
"Then, we are now in the... probing phase."
"A probing phase?"
Su Xueli nodded: "Yes, I'm testing whether we can really fall in love with each other. I have no experience with this."
She was inexperienced; all she ever got in return for her love was a little bit of his affection.
He Yujie suddenly became agitated, like a drowning person grasping at the last straw, "What if you two can't fall in love? Can you give me a chance?"
Su Xueli was stunned. For such a reserved yet proud man to say such a thing showed how much he loved her.
She bit her lip and said, "Teacher He, you deserve better. I... am not good enough for you."
He Yujie felt utterly empty, but he still made one last effort: "Xueli, you really don't like me at all? What did I do wrong? I can... change."

He Yujie closed his eyes, waved to her, and said, "I understand. Thank you for being honest with me. I'm done."
Su Xueli sighed and said, "Teacher He, I understand how you feel, but all I can say is that I hope you can let go of me soon so that you can start accepting others. Teacher He, I wish you happiness."
