Chapter 56 She Will Definitely Be a Good Mother (Part Two)

I have to say, he's so handsome.

But Su Xueli was afraid he would show off, so she pouted and said, "Whoever can't handle it, hurry up and get to work."

Wei Mingshen said seriously, "Just now I gave the money to our father and told him that it was a gift from you to him."

"Wow," the old man said, flattered. "My daughter-in-law is better than my daughter and son. They both annoy me, but my daughter-in-law has only been married for less than a month and she's already buying them pastries, meat, and wine. Now she's even giving me money as a token of her respect. I must be incredibly lucky in my past life."

Su Xueli was naturally pleased to hear this, and then she lectured him, "Then you should be more filial to them in the future, and don't make them angry."

Wei Mingshen grinned and said, "I can't just listen to everything they say."

Su Xueli understood and said, "Yes, when it comes to matters of the heart, one should follow one's own feelings. Otherwise, one will be unhappy for the rest of one's life and ruin someone else's life as well."

"Whose life was ruined?" Wei Mingshen asked stupidly.

Su Xueli lowered her head and said, "I'm talking about hypotheticals. If you listen to your parents and marry someone you don't like, and you spend your whole life thinking about the person you like, you'll look down on your wife and neglect her for the rest of your life. Wouldn't that be harming her?"

Wei Mingshen understood. But he glanced at Su Xueli and said sincerely, "I don't look down on you at all. On the contrary, I admire you and respect you. You are a special girl."

Su Xueli sneered, her fingers slightly disheveled, and said, "Of course it wasn't me, and I won't let you ignore me."

He lowered his head and remained silent.

"Ah! This set is finally finished." Su Xueli stretched.

Wei Mingshen, while dyeing the little figures, said, "You go wash up and go to sleep first. I'll finish dyeing these."

Su Xueli stood up, stretched her arms and legs, stoked the fire, picked up a handful of straw, and sat down again.

After Wei Ming finished dyeing the last little figure, he looked up and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, you made a chubby baby! It's so cute!"

Su Xueli said calmly, "We're still missing a baby girl."

Wei Mingshen held it in his hand, playing with it and praising it: "It's chubby, with big eyes and a fleshy nose. It looks just like the real thing. I'll dye it to make it look even better."

"Oh, by the way, do you sell these too?"

Su Xueli, while knitting a doll, said, "Your mother asked me to knit one to put by your bedside."

Wei Mingshen narrowed his eyes, grinned, and sighed softly, saying, "Thank you for your hard work."

Then I opened the door and went to the toilet.

After he finished using the toilet, he stood in the yard, lit a cigarette, and slowly smoked while looking up at the night sky.

As the moon set in the west, the sky was filled with stars. Occasionally, a dog would bark, a chicken would cluck, and a cricket would sing in the kitchen. A sense of warmth welled up in his heart.

He thought: It would be nice to spend my whole life with this girl in the house.

His hand slipped and touched his pocket, making a rustling sound from the papers inside. His heart sank: she was still waiting for him.

When Wei Mingshen returned to the room, Su Xueli had already finished weaving the little girl doll.

They were both chubby, but the girl was prettier; she had two braids and was wearing a little skirt.

She held the girl in her hands, her eyes filled with happiness.

"It's getting late. We have to go to the county tomorrow. Go wash up and go to bed," he whispered to her.

Su Xueli hummed in agreement, picked up the two little figures to examine them, and carefully placed them beside her pillow.

He didn't know what she was thinking, but looking at her gentle movements and expression, he thought to himself: She will definitely be a good mother.
