Chapter 6 Facing the Difficulty of Divorce (Part 1)

Unfortunately, the new son-in-law's banquet had a master at persuading guests to drink. It was said that he had been doing this for decades and no guest could stand up and get off the table.

So, although Wei Mingshen could drink and had some wine, when it was time for him to return home, Su Guojun ordered his son and a nephew to drive the young couple back in a mule cart.

Actually, Wei Mingshen wasn't drunk. Su Guojun and his wife insisted that their son and nephew escort the young couple back to Su Xueli's husband's home.

The two, whose plan had failed, sat on the floor of their new house, one on the bed and the other on the floor below.

She asked him, "What should we do?"

He asked her, "What should we do?"

Both of them replied in unison, "How should I know what to do!"

Su Xueli said, "My parents will come tomorrow to tell your parents about your illness. So, tell me, do you admit you're not sick or are you faking it?"

Wei Mingshen was starting to have a headache. He was the only son in his family. If his parents found out that he had a hidden illness that prevented him from having children, they would be devastated.

But if he doesn't lie, he can forget about divorcing Su Xueli and marrying Lin Meizhi.

In the end, he decided that for the sake of his happy marriage, he had no choice but to admit that he had a hidden illness and would tell his parents the truth after the divorce.

"Brother, come out for a moment. Sister Meizhi asked me to pass on a message to you," Wei Mingyue suddenly said as she stepped into the room.

She deliberately didn't mention her brother's mistress behind her new sister-in-law's back.

However, what did this have to do with Su Xueli, who wanted to divorce Wei Mingshen? So she lowered her head and fiddled with the bracelet on her wrist, ignoring everything.

Wei Mingshen felt that this was very disrespectful, after all, she was now his wife, and besides, his parents forbade him to have any more contact with Lin Meizhi. His sister was too immature.

He glared at her fiercely, deliberately picking a fight, "Have you no manners? Your sister-in-law is inside, why didn't you say hello before calling me?"

Su Xueli raised her eyelids: She never received this kind of treatment in her past life, not even until her death. When had he ever paid her any attention?

Wei Mingyue stared at her brother's handsome face as if she had seen a ghost, and sneered: "No way, brother, are you showing off your love with your wife in front of me? I've seen you and Sister Meizhi all lovey-dovey with my own eyes."

"Then you should ask your sister Meizhi to talk to your brother herself. Why are you relaying her message?" Su Xueli asked calmly.

Wei Mingyue choked and stood there speechless for a moment.

"Let's go, let's go!" Wei Mingshen pushed his sister out.

Su Xueli sneered. Recalling how this younger sister-in-law had disliked and bullied her in her past life, she felt it was necessary to teach her a lesson, as a way of avenging her past life's grievances.

"Brother, look at that woman! She's giving herself a hard time, isn't she? Does she think she can bully us?" Wei Mingyue complained angrily to her brother.

Wei Mingshen said impatiently, "It's your fault. Tell me, what message did Meizhi ask you to pass on to me? How did you meet with her?"

Wei Mingyue had no choice but to bring up the matter first, "I went to see Sister Meizhi today, and she asked me to tell you to go to the store in town tomorrow."

Back then, stores were still state-owned, and being a sales clerk in a store was incredibly prestigious, giving you a sense of superiority comparable to that of a modern-day internet celebrity.

That's why Lin Meizhi, the town secretary's daughter, managed to snag this coveted prize.

Wei Mingshen frowned and said, "You know that my parents have been watching me closely these days and won't let me go to town to see them. We'll talk about it later."

He didn't want to upset his parents, and he also felt it was immoral for him to openly meet another woman while his new wife was still around.

Although he and his wife both wanted a divorce, they hadn't gotten one yet. He should handle things properly here before dealing with Lin Meizhi, otherwise he would be letting everyone down.

Wei Mingyue glanced into her parents' room and whispered, "I'll try to distract them so they don't know you went to town to see Sister Meizhi."
