He Yulan's barbershop is located at the end of the main street in town. It's just a storefront with a sign that reads "Youth Barbershop".
Su Xueli went inside. He Yulan, wearing a red smock, was giving a young man a haircut. When she saw Su Xueli, her eyes lit up with joy. "Sister Xueli, you're here."
Su Xueli smiled and said, "You go ahead and do your work."
He Yulan said, "It'll be ready in a bit, sister. Please sit down for a while."
She knew exactly why she was there.
Su Xueli sat down on the stool next to her, picked up a book on hairstyles, and slowly flipped through it.
After the customer left, He Yulan quickly washed her hands and sat down, asking in a low voice, "Sister Xue Li, you know about what happened between Yunfeng and me, right?"
Su Xueli said, "I know, I just came from his house."
He Yulan glanced outside and whispered, "Sister Xue Li, let's go inside and talk."
She opened the small door at the back, which led to a small room. A bed had just been placed inside, and Su Yunfeng was fast asleep on the bed.
"Yunfeng, wake up, your sister's here." He Yulan patted him.
The movement was incredibly gentle.
"Hmm, Sister Shirley, what brings you here?" Su Yunfeng sat up abruptly.
Su Xueli smiled and said, "I came to see you and also to bring you news from home so you can stay here without worry."
"Sister Xue Li, if there's nowhere to sit, sit on the bed." He Yulan sat down next to Su Yunfeng first, her eyes practically dripping with sweetness as she looked at him.
Su Xueli sat at the foot of the bed, keeping some distance from the two of them.
"Our grandpa is perfectly fine, and your mother's fake hanging attempt is also over. Even if she tried to hang herself again, she'd find a way to save her. You have to hold on, or all our efforts will be in vain."
Su Yunfeng said excitedly, "Sister Xue Li, I understand. I will never give up on Yulan no matter what. We will definitely be together."
As he spoke, he tightly grasped He Yulan's hand.
He Yulan blushed, looking both shy and sweet.
She looked at Su Xueli and said, "Sister Xueli, Yunfeng told me that you are the only one in your family who supports us. I am truly grateful to you."
As she spoke, her eyes reddened, and tears welled up in them.
Su Yunfeng put his arm around her shoulder with heartache, and she leaned against him, sobbing.
Looking at the deeply affectionate couple, Su Xueli felt fortunate that she had given Su Yunfeng courage.
She said softly, "I don't want my cousin to give up on such a wonderful girl like you, and I hope that you two will eventually get married. However, a marriage that is not blessed by your family will have to go through many trials, so you must be strong."
Su Yunfeng and He Yulan exchanged a glance, then turned to Su Xueli at the same time and said firmly, "We are ready."
Su Xueli gave them a thumbs up, saying, "I wish you all the best. I will do my best to help you whenever you need me."
She had no desire for love or marriage in her own life, so she would do her best to support her cousin's love life. Seeing their happiness made her feel a little bit of happiness herself.
"Is anyone here?" Another customer came in.
He Yulan quickly replied, "Wait a moment!"
Su Xueli said, "Yulan, you go ahead and do your work. I'll go to the market too."
He then instructed his younger cousin, "Stay cooped up here for a few days. Don't go out and get seen by anyone, or you'll cause trouble for Yulan."
Su Yunfeng grabbed Su Xueli's arm like a child, "Sister Xueli, come and see me when you have time, and cheer us both up."
