Enraged, Wei Mingyue bent down, grabbed a clod of dirt, and threw it at Su Xueli. Wei Mingshen stretched out his hand, and the clod of dirt shattered in his hand.
Wei Mingyue tried to leave but failed, and ran out of the house crying in anger.
Cao Maizi called after him, "Wait, I'll ask your brother Hu to take you there."
Then, she walked out of the hospital gate on her small heels.
She ran out and grabbed Wei Mingyue, whispering, "Don't run around. Go stay at your older sister's house for a few days. Then I'll have your older sister come over and put in a good word for your sister-in-law."
Wei Mingyue glared at her mother and said, "Who cares about this broken-down family? It's none of your business if I die out there."
At this point, anything said would be said in anger. Cao Maizi ignored it and went straight to Hu Zi's house, asking Hu Zi to take his younger daughter to his older daughter's house.
It's so late at night, we can't let her go by herself.
Tiger took Wei Mingyue to Wei Minglan's house, and the Wei Mingshen family returned to peace.
Wei Tiezhu sighed and went back to his room. Cao Maizi went to her daughter-in-law's room to speak to her kindly. Su Xueli said, "Mother, I'm fine. Aren't you all on my side? It's so cold at night, you should go to sleep."
Cao Maizi said with relief, "Xueli, my good daughter, it's all thanks to your understanding and for not arguing with this little brat, otherwise our family would be in chaos every day."
Su Xueli smiled and said, "Mom, you're all so good to me. You stood up for me, so how could I cause any more trouble? It's really alright, Mom. Go to sleep now. Ming Shen and I will make up some more stories."
Cao Maizi looked at her daughter-in-law with affection and said, "Alright then, I'm going to sleep. You two shouldn't make up any more stories, go to sleep early. Look at how hard you work day and night. People rest in the winter, and you two are working so hard."
Su Xueli said, "Mom, I don't feel it's hard work to make money."
Cao Maizi went back to her room, leaving the young couple alone again.
Su Xueli held the doll in her hand, and it slowly took shape again. Wei Mingshen looked at her and apologized in a low voice: "Xueli, Mingyue is just a half-baked person. Don't take her words to heart, and don't get angry."
Su Xueli said indifferently, "No, she's not worth me getting angry over. But she's right, if you had married Lin Meizhi back then, your sister would have been able to become a primary school teacher next semester."
Wei Mingshen looked at her and asked, "Xueli, can we not talk about this?"
Su Xueli shrugged and said, "Okay, I won't say anything more."
But then she couldn't resist asking him, "Look, you didn't even say anything when you told her it was her birthday. She must be really heartbroken."
"Snap!" Wei Mingshen dropped the paintbrush in his hand and bent down to pick it up.
Su Xueli stuck out her tongue and remained silent.
Footsteps could be heard outside; it was Hu Zi bringing Wei Mingyue back.
Immediately, Cao Maizi asked, "Hu Zi, did you send her to your older sister's house?"
Tiger said, "Don't worry, Auntie, my older sister is trying to persuade her."
Then I heard Tiger go to the old man's house.
A moment later, Wei Mingshen opened the door and said to Hu Zi, who was walking out, "Hu Zi, you've been freezing. Come and have a cup of water to warm up."
Su Xueli also stood up and politely invited him, "Brother Hu, it's so cold, you must have come all this way. Come and warm up for a while."
Tiger is a kind and honest man. Whenever any of his neighbors or close relatives need him, he always comes to their aid.
In her past life, Wei Mingshen was unreliable, so Su Xueli would turn to him for help whenever she had something she couldn't handle herself. He never refused her help, even though her relatives and neighbors knew she was not favored and looked down on her. But Hu Zi did not.
When Hu Zi heard Wei Mingshen call him, he answered and came in. Su Xueli quickly handed him a cup of warm water and asked him to sit on the stool in front of the brazier.
Su Xueli placed the candies and snacks beside him and said kindly, "Tiger, these were all bought by your sister-in-law. Please eat them and don't be shy."
