She called out, "Xiao Jiu, come and make the wonton filling!"
Xiao Jiu agreed and ran over excitedly, while Wei Mingshen went back inside to busy himself.
Su Xueli said, "You chop the meat first, and I'll knead the dough and let it rest."
Xiao Jiu started chopping the filling with a "bang bang bang" sound.
She looked at Su Xueli, who was kneading dough, with her bright eyes and asked, "Sister Xueli, what is your relationship with Brother Wei? Why is he avoiding my uncle and aunt?"
Knowing she would ask, Su Xueli said, "Xiao Jiu, let me tell you the truth, your Brother Wei is my ex-husband."
"Ah..." Xiao Jiu froze, mouth agape.
Su Xueli said, "If you know, then get to work quickly, don't just stand there. I've finished kneading the dough, now I'm going to plant the flowers."
Then I covered the kneaded dough, washed my hands, and went to the yard.
She rakeed the soil again, leveled it, planted the flower seeds, and then chose a spot to plant the roses.
She had a unique idea: she planted roses on the edge of the garden, and even planted one in a heart shape. In this way, the roses became the garden's fence, protecting all the flowers inside.
She was amazed by her own results after planting them. She stood there looking at the dozen or so rose bushes again and again, wishing that when she woke up the next day, she would see that the seeds she had planted had sprouted and that flower buds had formed on the branches of the roses.
"Wow, it's so beautiful, a heart-shaped garden!" Wei Mingshen came closer.
Su Xueli was very excited and imagined, "Just wait, in another month or two, this place will be full of colorful flowers and fragrant scents!"
"Yes, we worked in a sea of flowers back then, and our work was imbued with an ethereal quality."
Just as Su Xueli was about to agree, she glanced at him and said, "You won't see it, because our partnership will end then."
She calculated that she would be able to earn his family's money by the end of the month.
Wei Mingshen frowned, spread his hands, and said, "Maybe I'll still be here. Who can say for sure what will happen in the future?"
After saying that, he went back inside to work.
Thinking about his words, Su Xueli was stunned for a few seconds. That's right, she only knew about her past life, not what was going to happen in this life.
"Sister Shirley!" Xiao Jiu called out to her from the kitchen.
Su Xueli slowly walked into the kitchen and asked, "Why did you call me? I've already kneaded the dough and bought the scallions. You've chopped the meat filling. Let's start making the filling and wrapping the dumplings."
"Oh my dear sister!" Xiao Jiu pulled her to the kitchen door and closed it.
"I have no idea how to make wontons. I've only ever heard of them, never actually seen them made."
"I don't know how either."
"Oh my god, you don't know how either? What should I do? Who can save me?!" Xiao Jiu was on the verge of tears.
Su Xueli rolled her eyes at her, "Are you still going to brag like that in the future?"
Xiao Jiu said with a bitter face, "But I wanted to make a good impression on him, to let him know that I am a woman with many good qualities."
Su Xueli scoffed, "You've gone to great lengths."
Xiao Jiu ignored everything else, only worrying about how to get through lunch today's wontons. She pleaded with Su Xueli, "Sister Xueli, do you even know how to wrap them? If you don't, I'm doomed."
Su Xueli poked her forehead with her index finger. "I'll save you one more time. Next time, you can do whatever you want and I'll just watch quietly."
"Hehe, I knew Sister Shirley could do it, because you're so skillful!" Xiao Jiu cheered excitedly again.
