The two little girls put their tiny fingers in their mouths and stared longingly at the kitchen, unwilling to leave.
Cao Maizi looked at Wei Mingshen and said, "Shenzi, I have some cakes that Xue Li bought. Take one for each of them. It looks like these two kids are really hungry. They must not have had breakfast again."
Wei Mingshen glanced at the two little girls and said gently, "Wait here, Uncle will go inside and get you some cake."
"Come inside, my two little darlings, it's warm inside," Su Xueli said warmly as she opened the door to the two girls.
Wei Mingshen glanced at Su Xueli, then waved to the two girls and said, "Your aunt is calling you. Come inside with me; it's cold outside."
Because they had been exposed to the cold for a long time, clear snot had turned both sides of their philtrum red.
Seeing that Su Xueli didn't mind the two children, Cao Maizi chuckled and said to them, "Go on, go on, your aunt will get you some good food."
Only after hearing Cao Maizi's words did the two little girls dare to move their small steps into the bridal chamber.
"Here, have a piece of cake each, plus cookies and candy. You two little darlings can eat as much as you want." Su Xueli took a bunch of snacks out of her drawer and put them on the table.
Wei Mingshen glanced at her, feeling a pang of sadness: You treat everyone else better than you treat me.
The two little girls' eyes lit up when they saw so much delicious food, and they grabbed the cakes and stuffed them into their mouths.
Su Xueli smiled as she looked at them and instructed, "Don't eat so fast, or you'll choke. Mingshen, pour the two children a glass of water."
Wei Mingshen had no choice but to take a cup, pour a glass of water, and place it on the table, saying to them, "It's hot, drink it later."
They each finished a cake in a few bites. Su Xueli then tore open the cookie wrapper and handed each of them a cookie, saying, "Eat slowly, these are all yours. After you finish the cookies, you can have some candy."
The two little girls stared at Su Xueli with their clear, bright eyes, then looked at Wei Mingshen. They weren't familiar with Su Xueli and weren't sure what she was saying.
Wei Mingshen said, "Your aunt isn't lying to you. This is all for you. If you can't finish it, take it back with you."
Su Xueli stopped him, "You can't take it back. It'll stay here. If you can't finish it, you can come back for more next time."
Because she knew that if she took it back, she wouldn't be able to eat it anymore, as her grandmother would take it and give it to her second son's grandson.
She wouldn't give it to that little rascal.
Wei Mingshen quickly agreed with her, saying, "Then eat here. Your aunt wants to watch you two eat."
Su Xueli sat down again, knitting her embroidery, and asked them, "Little darlings, what are your names?"
The older girl, with something in her mouth, answered, "My name is Zhaodi, and her name is Pandi."
Su Xueli sighed helplessly and said, "Then let's call you Zhaozhao and Panpan, okay?"
"good."
"Hmm, good girl, did you eat breakfast?"
"No."
Su Xueli frowned. "Why didn't you eat?"
"Mmm...I'm not hungry."
Su Xueli let out a long breath. She remembered that these words were taught to them by her mother. When Grandma forbade them to eat or go out, they were told to tell the truth and say they weren't hungry.
