Su Xueli fell silent.
The three young couples, a total of six people, met up. The three women introduced themselves to each other enthusiastically. Of course, Su Xueli's enthusiasm was a bit forced, because she was going to divorce her husband tomorrow or the day after.
What's even more awkward is that those two couples got married more than a month earlier than Su Xueli and Wei Mingshen, and those two women actually started talking about pregnancy at the dinner table.
A woman whispered to Su Xueli, "Was the day you got married the day you conceived?"
Su Xueli awkwardly picked up her teacup and took a big gulp.
The woman, blushing yet incredibly proud, said, "That's exactly me. My period was more than ten days late, and my mother-in-law says it's a sign of good luck."
Another woman retorted, "I got my period the day after the wedding, and I've been putting it off for over ten days now, so I guess I'm pregnant too..."
The two women simultaneously asked Su Xueli triumphantly, "When did you arrive? Before or after the wedding?"
Su Xueli really wanted to find a crack in the ground to crawl into, so she could only chuckle and indicate that she didn't want to talk about this topic.
A woman laughed at her: "Look how thin-skinned you are. You're a woman now, what's there to be embarrassed about? Getting pregnant and having children is just a matter of time."
After saying that, the woman suddenly asked Wei Mingshen across from her, "Brother Wei, do you want your wife to have a daughter or a son as her first child?"
Wei Mingshen was stunned by the question and subconsciously looked at Su Xueli.
Su Xueli blushed like a little apple, and rubbed her feet vigorously on the ground.
Wei Mingshen laughed and said, "Anything is fine. What about you two?"
He then turned the conversation to his two comrades.
So the three men started discussing the child, and Su Xueli finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, this is the last time I'll see them. I'll just have to bear with it and find an excuse to go back early.
But Su Xueli found that there was no excuse at all. Although the three comrades had met yesterday and drunk heavily all day, they still couldn't refuse to drink with each other today. Once a man drinks, he won't listen to a woman.
The three women had no choice but to continue chatting together.
What can a newlywed woman talk about? Nothing more than men and their affairs... Su Xueli, caught in the middle, felt like she was being tortured.
Since they were both newlyweds, the other two women were showing off their love, praising their husbands for being considerate and loving, and going on and on about Versailles, which gave Su Xueli goosebumps.
The two women noticed Su Xueli's silence and started asking her how her boyfriend treated her, even saying that she didn't seem very clingy to her man, and wondered if their relationship wasn't going well.
A woman glanced at Wei Mingshen and said, "Your husband is so handsome, do you have a lover on the side?"
Su Xueli couldn't take it anymore. She looked at her coldly and said, "Yes."
"Huh?" The two women were stunned.
Su Xueli added, "My boyfriend is good-looking, and there's a long line of girls chasing after him. I don't know who his girlfriends are, and I'm not interested. I'll just live my own life. Meddling in other people's business will only shorten my lifespan."
The two women understood what she meant, and they both sat up awkwardly, picked up their chopsticks to eat, and stopped talking about husband and wife.
Su Xueli thought things had calmed down, but little did she know that something even more humiliating was yet to come.
