Wei Mingshen said, "I know, Mother. I did my best today. I paid for the things we bought at the department store. My comrade's father didn't want the two bottles of wine he took, so he brought them back. In other words, he got things done without spending a penny."
Cao Maizi laughed heartily, praising his son for his competence.
Su Xueli glanced at him and said sincerely, "He is quite capable."
Wei Mingshen gave her a meaningful look. "Is that so?"
Su Xueli understood immediately, her face flushed, and she lowered her head to say to her mother-in-law, "Mother, I'm going inside to do some weaving."
Cao Maizi said, "Aren't you going to take a break? Look how cold it is today."
Su Xueli smiled and said, "I'm not tiring you out, Mother. It's cold outside, but it's not cold inside when we light a fire."
After saying that, he darted out of the kitchen and ran into his room.
Wei Mingshen finished his meal in a few bites and then rushed to start a fire.
He started a fire, and Su Xueli began weaving.
She gave him a reproachful look and whispered, "Hey, don't talk nonsense in front of your parents in the future."
Wei Mingshen looked completely innocent. "What nonsense did I say?"
"Stop pretending. Did you forget what you just said?"
"I forgot, I just said a lot of things in the kitchen. Pick out which sentence for me."
Su Xueli certainly wouldn't let him pick it out, otherwise she would embarrass herself again.
She rolled her eyes at him and said, "Enough talk, let's get to work."
Wei Mingshen chuckled to himself.
He first sat down in front of her to help her cut the thatch, and talked about his trip to his comrade's house in the county town that day. This scene was exactly like that of a normal young couple.
Su Xueli remembered her family's affairs and told Wei Mingshen about it. He was surprised and said, "Since my brother-in-law is in the hospital, shouldn't I go and see him?"
Su Xueli chuckled, "You're not going to give yourself away now, are you? I'll tell you you went to the class monitor's funeral."
Wei Ming sighed and said, "Yes, yes, I can't show my face yet, then I'll be impolite. But it's good, your parents won't have to worry about me."
Su Xueli glanced at him and said, "When the snipe and the clam fight, the fisherman benefits."
Wei Mingshen laughed heartily, "That's really true."
Su Xueli looked up at him seriously and said, "By the way, I was just about to tell you about this. You see, could you trouble your comrade again to see if he can find Yunfeng some work outside? He can't keep hiding like this."
Wei Mingshen shook his head, "No way, my comrade-in-arms doesn't have a job yet."
Su Xueli muttered, "That's right. Maybe next time I go to the city to deliver goods, I'll ask Manager Gao again and ask him to help me find some. After all, he's worked at the department store for over ten years and has a wide network of contacts."
Wei Mingshen thought for a moment and said, "If you want people to do their best to help you, you have to make them happy."
Su Xueli smiled and said, "I'll try to bring my second aunt with him next time."
Wei Mingshen narrowed his eyes. "How do you know so much?"
Su Xueli tapped him lightly on the head with the little figure in her hand, "Because I'm smart."
Wei Mingshen smiled indulgently at her, and her heart skipped a beat; she smiled back.
