Just then, the leopard, who was trying to climb from a pile of firewood in the yard to the top of the wall, was pulled down by Du Mei by the ankle.

A burst of unkind laughter erupted from the crowd.
As Du Mei's blade pressed against the leopard's neck, everyone was stunned.
"Hey Du Mei, don't cut me! I won't say anything to you anymore. I'll do whatever you ask me to do, Du Mei, please don't cut me..." the leopard howled, begging for mercy.
Du Mei's father-in-law and brother-in-law also pleaded for mercy: "Zhao Di's mother, you can't cut him! He's the father of your two children! Let's talk this out!"
With red eyes, Du Mei yelled at the three of them, "Will you still make me cook for you bunch of beasts? Will you still make me wash your clothes? Will you still make me make your shoes?!"

"Hahaha..." Everyone burst into laughter.
Doesn't that mean they're "a bunch of beasts"?
Du Mei's face was contorted with rage, a smile playing on her lips. She brandished the blade against the leopard's neck and then ordered her father-in-law, "Go ask the tigress to bring out this year's new cotton and some new fabric. I want to make cotton-padded clothes for my two daughters."
When Du Mei's father-in-law was about to leave, Leopard, eager to escape from the knife, cried out to his father, "Don't go, I'll go!"
Then he begged Du Mei, "Mother of my child, let me go, I'll go to my mother's room to get it."
"You can't go!" Du Mei slashed his neck with the knife again.
"I'm not going, I'm not going!" The leopard cried out in fright, raising its hands high.
Everyone laughed again.
What's even funnier is that his two daughters also started laughing along with everyone else.
