Chapter 21 Moving

Some young people who haven't married yet, who have enough money to feed the whole family, spend two or three yuan on it. They are also very good at finding new ways to eat it, such as adding noodles, soaking it in rice, or even buying a bowl of wontons and pouring it in.

Xia Jin sold out quickly today, adding over 500 skewers, but still closed the stall at about the same time as yesterday. With 500 more skewers, Xia Jin also earned an extra 50 yuan compared to yesterday, mainly because he added more vegetables, and the vegetables were all grown in his own space, so he didn't charge any money.

Xia Jin and Xiao Hua packed up their things and rushed home. After eating a spicy hot pot meal at home, Xia Jin went to the Housing Management Office with Aunt Liu to wait. Xia Jin carried a bag today, which contained the bank passbook he had opened earlier.

After waiting for a while, the two saw Zhang Quan coming over on a bicycle. Zhang Quan put the bicycle in a designated parking space, locked it, and turned to look for Xia Jin and the others.

Zhang Quan said, "I'm sorry, I'm late."

Xia Jin said, "It's not too late, we just arrived too." After that, Xia Jin handed him the deposit that had been prepared long ago and said, "This five hundred is the deposit. After the house is transferred, we will go to the bank and transfer the remaining three thousand to you."

Zhang Quan took the money and said, "Okay, let's go in."

The same procedures were followed as before, and the house was transferred to Xia Jin as a gift. After the transfer, Xia Jin and her friends left the housing management office and headed straight to the bank. Xia Jin withdrew 3,000 yuan from her passbook and handed it to Zhang Quan. Zhang Quan took the money, counted it, and then handed Xia Jin the key to the house, which he had already prepared.

When they returned to the rented house at night, Xia Jin said, "Aunt, I have a favor to ask of you."

Aunt Cuihong said, "What's the matter?"

Xia Jin said, "Could you please help me clean up tomorrow afternoon? I don't have time tomorrow."

Aunt Cuihong said, "I thought it was just cleaning, no big deal."

Xia Jin said, "The house hasn't been occupied for a long time. Ask Aunt Liu if she's willing to go with you. I'm afraid you won't be able to clean it up properly if you spend the whole afternoon on your own. If it's not in vain, I'll give you an extra dollar tomorrow."

Aunt Cuihong said, "Then I'll ask her tomorrow."

Xia Jin said, "Please take care of it. Here is the key to the house. Aunt Liu knows where the house is."

Aunt Cuihong said, "Okay."

Another day passed, and Xia Jin finally arrived at Saturday and Sunday. Aside from setting up her stall at noon, she spent the rest of her time decorating her new home. She went to the furniture store and bought a wardrobe, a bed, a dressing table, a desk, and a bookcase. She also bought a spring bed for comfort. Since Xia Jin lived alone, she converted one of her two bedrooms into a study, where she would do homework and read.

After Xia Jin made her order, the workers delivered the furniture to her home that afternoon. Xia Jin then directed them to move the items to their respective locations and arrange them. After the workers left, Xia Jin went to buy some sheets, quilt covers, and tablecloths. To make her feel comfortable, Xia Jin also bought several vases to place on her desk and dresser.

After buying bedding, Xia Jin went to buy kitchenware. He replaced all the dishes, the cupboards for them, the various pots and pans, and even the basins, towel racks, and other items with new ones. As the weather grew colder, Xia Jin bought some thick clothes, cotton, and cloth for Aunt Cuihong to make her some cotton-padded jackets, and a few new quilts.

It took Xia Jin two days to decorate the house. Now he just had to wait for Aunt Cuihong to make the new bedding, and then he could move in.

Xia Jin chose to move during the National Day holiday. She didn't have a lot of stuff anyway, so the hardest part was the bedding. Aunt Liu and Aunt Cuihong helped her, and the four of them finished moving in one trip. To celebrate, Xia Jin bought some food from a restaurant after setting up her stall, and the four of them celebrated together.

After finishing the meal and clearing the table, Xia Jin said, "Auntie, you will work here every morning from now on. You need to come here early in the morning before I go to school. If it is inconvenient for you to take care of the children, you can bring them here, as long as they don't cause any trouble. You can just move around in the kitchen and the yard."

"Okay, got it. We will definitely not barge in."

Xia Jin's life was going on steadily. Every day at noon, Xia Jin still went to buy spicy hot pot. Everything was going on steadily. Since the second day, Xia Jin prepared more than 1,500 skewers every day and they were sold out every day, but sometimes they sold out faster and sometimes slower.

Gradually, Xia Jin's stall gained some popularity, attracting many customers who came from other places specifically to eat. However, with good places comes bad. On the fifth day of the stall, Xia Jin and her friends noticed that some other stalls had also started selling spicy hot pot. However, theirs could never match the taste of Xia Jin's stall, and their regular customers still preferred Xia Jin's. However, some bargain hunters were gradually attracted to it. Although the taste was not good, it was cheap.

However, Xia Jin's business was still the best, selling out early every day. Those who followed the trend also had a lot of problems. The ingredients were not fresh and they had diarrhea. Some people might have cut corners because they sold well. No matter what others did, Xia Jin always adhered to his principles.

The news about Xia Jin's business gradually spread to the school. Xia Jin was not surprised at all. One of his classmates' families worked in a machinery factory, and the school was not far away. Xia Jin's stall was also a little famous, so Xia Jin was not surprised at all that his classmates knew about it.

Xia Jin was not worried that the Xia family would find out. They looked down on these small vendors the most and always felt that one day they would be severely cracked down on like before. They also always felt that the three workers in their family were superior to others. Now that they knew that Xia Jin was doing business, without knowing the benefits, they would definitely stay away from him, fearing that they would be implicated by Xia Jin one day.

As soon as Xia Jin arrived at the classroom, she was stopped by Xia Qingqing. Xia Qingqing looked at Xia Jin arrogantly and said, "Sister, I heard that you are setting up your own stall now."

Xia Jin said, "What's it to you?"

Xia Qingqing said, "I just want to remind you that we are all students and should focus on our studies. Also, what if you go to set up a stall and cause trouble for your parents?"

Xia Jin said, "Have you forgotten that I have nothing to do with your family anymore? Why should you care about me? And if I don't set up the stall, you have to pay me."

Xia Qingqing said aggrievedly: "I mean well, I'm just worried that you'll fall behind in your studies."

"Yes, we Qingqing kindly reminded you, what's your attitude."

"Qingqing, let's go and leave her alone."

Xia Jin said, "Xia Qingqing, if you have time to worry about me, you might as well worry about yourself. I guess it's not easy for you while I'm away."
