Chapter 7 Exchanging Grain at the Grain Station

Li Guifang was strolling on the street, kicking the pebbles on the roadside. She was becoming more and more annoyed the more she thought about it - the mess at home was not over yet!

The eldest son’s postgraduate studies have not been settled yet, and the family is still in turmoil because of money issues.

Li Guifang felt very annoyed when she thought about these things, mainly because she really disliked those two fools, Li Mingyuan and his wife.

Even though he is so stupid, he always thinks he is smarter than others and plays some shabby tricks at home all day long.

All in all, that half a pound of pig brains was used on my family.

Thinking of the two of them, Li Guifang felt that the streets today were not as beautiful as they used to be.

The streets were bustling with people. Li Guifang walked slowly, her eyes casually glancing at the grocery stores and tailor shops along the street.

Suddenly, she heard a quarrel, which became louder and louder, and a little hysterical.

Li Guifang couldn't help but stop and look in the direction of the sound, and found that the crowd was gathered at the entrance of the grain station.

Her heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason, and she subconsciously clenched a handful of melon seeds in her pocket and squeezed them into the crowd, distributing them as she squeezed!

The main reason is that this voice is a little familiar, and I feel itchy if I don’t come and take a look.

After finally squeezing to the front row, she took a closer look and her heart jumped to her throat.

——Isn’t the one arguing with others with a red face and thick neck her second daughter Li Mingjuan?

Although, Li Meijuan later became the same as Li Mingyuan and his wife!

However, in my memory, Li Mingjuan is now a very sensible person, and her son-in-law Liu Wei is also a sincere man. When her two grandsons see her, they call her "Grandma" affectionately.

Therefore, Li Guifang has not yet classified Li Mingjuan into the camp of Li Mingyuan and Lin Yaqin.

Although, in her previous life, Li Meijuan ended up being as heartless as Li Mingyuan, in this life, as soon as Li Guifang found that this girl had the slightest sign of being unfilial, she would beat her out!

A crowd of onlookers gathered at the entrance of the grain station. Li Mingjuan was arguing with a middle-aged woman in blue work clothes.

Li Mingjuan's flowered shirt was loose, her ponytail was loose, and her face was flushed.

He Qiu, the female worker at the grain station, was holding a cloth bag in her hand, her face ashen.

Li Guifang rushed over in two steps, shouting, "Juan'er, what's going on?"

When Li Mingjuan heard her mother's voice, she turned around and saw Li Guifang, with a trace of grievance in her eyes:

"Mom, this guy is unreasonable and insists on deducting my food!"

When He Qiu heard this, her eyes widened and she immediately retorted loudly, "How can you, comrade, lie with your eyes open? It was obviously you who wanted to get away with it, and we found out, yet you are still making random accusations and turning the tables!" She shook the cloth bag in her hand, and the food coupons rustled.

Li Guifang quickly pulled the two apart, saying politely, "Stop arguing, talk it over. Juan'er, tell me what's going on first."

Li Mingjuan felt more confident now that her mother was here.

"Mom, I came to collect food today, and this person said I was short of five kilograms of food coupons, but I clearly paid in full!"

He Qiu got even angrier when he heard this, and rattled the bag of food coupons. "It's all written here in black and white! Look for yourself how much the difference is! I, He Qiu, have worked at the grain station for over ten years. How could I possibly wrongly accuse you? You shortchanged five kilograms of food coupons. The coupons don't add up, so you can only receive twenty-five kilograms!"

After saying this, he shook the cloth bag containing the food coupons.

Li Guifang observed the expressions of the two people when they spoke, and it seemed that what they both said was true.

She quickly pulled the food coupon book out of Li Mingjuan's pocket, opened it and took a look, then said to the middle-aged woman:

"Comrade He, look, it clearly says that 30 kilograms have been submitted, and it's even stamped with your grain station's seal. My daughter didn't say anything false."

After saying that, he handed the food coupon book forward.

He Qiu took the food coupon book, looked at it carefully, then frowned and said:

"That's not right. Normally, your family should have paid 30 kilograms of food coupons this month, but here we only have 25 kilograms."

Li Meijuan was also confused when she heard this. She quickly flipped through the food coupon bag again, carefully checking it again, and also found the problem.

She raised her head and said to He Qiu, "Sister, I counted it many times before handing it in. Look, my grain book is stamped. Did you make a mistake?"

The grain book indicated that all the money had been paid; however, their family's grain bags were not enough, which clearly showed that there was a flaw in the work of their grain station.

He Qiu shook his head firmly, "It can't be wrong. I have been doing this job for so many years, it's impossible for me to make a mistake.

If you don’t believe it, go ask someone else.”

Li Guifang began to feel anxious after hearing this. Who knew if this was intentional or just an accident? Either way, there was no way to find out.

But if they received five kilograms less of food, life would become even more difficult for Li Mingjuan and her husband.

She turned around and said to Li Mingjuan, "Juan'er, think about it again. Is there something wrong?"

When Li Mingjuan heard this, a trace of grievance flashed in her eyes: "Mom, I really didn't make a mistake! When I handed in the food coupons, I counted them several times!"

After hearing this, Li Guifang felt even more troubled.

She knew that although Li Mingjuan was a little confused and a bit domineering at home, she was always cowardly outside and would not play tricks on big things. She didn't have the brains or the courage to do so.

Li Mingjuan didn't know what she was thinking about, she suddenly slammed the table and said loudly:

"I'm telling you, my husband is a police officer! If you keep trying to do this, I'll have the police take care of you!"

When Li Guifang heard this, she wanted to abandon this stupid teammate and turned around and left.

However, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, he could only quickly grab Li Mingjuan's hand and whispered, "Juan'er, stop talking nonsense!"
