Chapter 116 Hiring a Nanny

Grandpa Wang glanced at Yang Lin with pity, but didn't say anything, afraid that if he said too much, his wife would ask him to come and keep her grandson-in-law company.

Thinking about this makes me even sadder; my husband is losing his status more and more.

It's all because I, the grandfather, am useless. He's the only one with any standing in the family, and he was even kicked out by his daughter-in-law, who's also an ingrate.

I don't know... I suddenly smelled a strong aroma of stewed chicken and big bones... Oh well, children and grandchildren have their own blessings. As long as I eat and drink well, it doesn't matter if my children don't have status.

"How's Chunni?" Zhou Daya asked Wang Chunni with concern.

"Grandma, I'm doing great." Wang Chunni put a chicken leg on Zhou Daya's plate.

When we eat chicken at home, Tao Chenyang and Zhou Daya usually each get a chicken leg.

Grandpa Wang likes to eat chicken breast, Tao Ying doesn't like to eat chicken, and Wang Chuntao and Wang Chunni like to eat chicken wings.

"Here, have some. You're pregnant now, so you need to take good care of yourself and try to recover from the illness you developed back then." Zhou Daya gave the chicken leg to Wang Chunni.

"Grandma, I don't like chicken legs." Wang Chunni put the chicken leg back on Zhou Daya's plate.

"It's not like we can't afford it, there's no need to keep offering it to each other. If you want to eat it, you can eat it every day." Tao Ying sighed.

"Who eats chicken every day? Can't we have something different?" Zhou Daya looked at Tao Ying in disbelief.

There was no doubt about the truthfulness of Tao Ying's words, after all, this child was truly fearless.

"Okay, I'll just hire a housekeeper. She can come over every day to cook, do laundry, clean, and stuff like that." Tao Ying has become increasingly impatient with cooking these past few days.

"Is that alright? We have everything at home, what if something goes missing? If it still doesn't work, I won't go to the shop, I'll cook." Zhou Daya refused without even thinking.

"Mom, you're getting on in years. Don't worry, just find someone with good character. We won't need to tidy up the house," Tao Ying gently reassured her.

"I'm going to deliver food to my brother-in-law." Seeing the old man wink at her, she scooped up a large bowl of rice and added some of the pickled vegetables that Wang Chunni and Wang Chuntao had prepared earlier.

"Get some food for your brother-in-law too." Zhou Daya felt a headache coming on when she saw Wang Baomin's actions.

Anyone who didn't know better would think this was someone's child groom, someone they couldn't bear to feed.

They won't even let us sit at the table, and now they won't even give us any food.

“My brother-in-law had morning sickness, right? I remember when my mom was pregnant with Chuntao, she could only eat pickled vegetables for two months. Sometimes my grandma would put a drop of sesame oil in the pickled vegetables and she would vomit for an hour.” Wang Baomin felt heartbroken when he recalled how his mother vomited back then.

“I was really having morning sickness, your brother-in-law was just too worried about your sister, how can you compare them?” Tao Ying wanted to give Wang Baomin a couple of slaps, how could someone be so sarcastic?

"Then I'll go eat with my brother-in-law, so as not to waste food." Wang Baomin thought for a moment, then took another bowl and put a lot of vegetables in it.

He placed two bowls of rice on top, then took the two basins and went out.

As the only remaining male, Mr. Wang was somewhat uneasy.

Silently, I started eating the meat with my few remaining teeth.

"How about this, if you hire someone, I'll leave your dad at home," Zhou Daya said, glancing at Old Master Wang.

"Mom, you don't have to go to the clothing store. Don't worry, Chunni will handle the accounts, so it won't be a problem," Tao Ying gently reassured her.

“I’m not going to stay at home, I’d rather stay in the shop,” Zhou Daya quickly refused.

Those nice clothes, even though I can't wear them, they still look good on me.

“Okay, you can arrange it yourself. Dad, do you want to stay at home or go to the clothing store?” Tao Ying asked, looking at Grandpa Wang.

Grandpa Wang was taken aback by the sudden question. He paused, his hand still holding the food in his chopsticks, and turned to look at Zhou Daya.

"The child is asking you a question, why are you looking at me like that? It's like I'm telling you what to do." Zhou Daya glared at Old Master Wang.

That old geezer, acting like he's the most unreasonable person ever.

Grandpa Wang: "..." I can't even afford to support a family for five cents, don't you know that?

However, it's not easy to say this, for fear that if I say it, my wife will scold me for a month straight.

“Um, Tao Ying, I want to work at Baomin’s factory. The clothing store is mostly frequented by young girls, and it’s inconvenient for an old man like me. You can’t hire a male nanny either. I usually help out at the store, but if I suddenly stop going now that we’ve hired a nanny, people will gossip.”

Grandpa Wang mustered up his courage and even changed his way of speaking.

"So you don't want to be with me anymore?" Zhou Daya said sarcastically.

"I told you I wouldn't say it, but you insisted I say it," said Grandpa Zhou, his face full of grievance.

"Mom, don't blame Dad. I didn't think this through. The clothing store isn't that busy right now. How about this, let Dad go to the transportation company tomorrow?" Tao Ying interrupted Zhou Daya, who was about to continue speaking.

Wang Yuexue, who had been silently watching their conversation, remained silent.

I'm a complete stranger, and I've been alone at home for two days now. It seems like no one is on guard against me.

“If he goes to the transportation company, what will you do then? Can he drive, or what?” Zhou Daya said somewhat unhappily.

I feel like the old man just wants to distance himself from me.

This is because I'm getting annoyed that I can't stand the sight of myself anymore.

"I'll tell you, I won't tell you." Old Master Wang felt even more aggrieved. He wanted to take a puff of his pipe, but seeing Wang Chunni beside him, he gave up the idea.

“Mom, Dad is right. After Baomin finishes eating, I’ll talk to him and ask him to arrange some work for Dad.” Tao Ying smoothed things over for the elderly couple.

Zhou Daya became even angrier upon hearing this.

Ying'er doesn't understand this old man. He's still acting like a human being now that she's watching over him. But if he really goes to Baomin's place, where is the law?

They'd better bully Baomin to death.

However, I also know that this old man's words are watertight.

The Wang family is a bad family; there's not a single good person in it.

"Grandma, have some food." Tao Chenyang obediently served food to Zhou Daya.

"Our Yangyang is so sensible." Zhou Daya was too lazy to pay any more attention to Old Master Wang.

If you want to do something, then do it. How many more years can you keep doing it?

Just live your own life well.

To avoid being disliked for no reason.

Old Master Wang didn't dare utter a word, eating in silence. The thought of not having his wife to look after him tomorrow made him happy.

"How's it going with Baomin bringing Yang Lin his food? Has Yang Lin stopped vomiting? I'll go check on him." Wang Chunni tried to divert everyone's attention.

"Sister, please sit down. I'll go out and take a look," Wang Yuexue quickly helped Wang Chunni up.

"Alright, two grown people like you can't possibly go hungry, so eat properly," Tao Ying called out to the two of them.

The two people outside carrying the basin were unaware of the incident inside; the situation was at two extremes.
