Just as the new store was getting on track, a junior staff member suddenly rushed in, looking flustered.
"Aunt Tao, Aunt Tao!" The junior staff member searched the store but couldn't find Aunt Tao.
Tao Ying looked at the junior staff member pacing around the store with a hint of helplessness. "Is there something you need?"
"Sister, could you please tell Aunt Tao that her daughter-in-law has gone into labor and Wang Baojun has taken her to the hospital?" the junior staff member said politely to Tao Ying.
"It's started? Wasn't it supposed to be another month?" Tao Ying was somewhat surprised.
"Wang Baojun's mother-in-law and brother-in-law came to Zhao Shuangfeng to ask for money. Zhao Shuangfeng refused, and then Wang Baojun's brother-in-law pushed her." The junior officer briefly described the situation at the time.
"So impulsive?" Tao Ying couldn't help but widen her eyes. He even dared to push a pregnant woman.
"Lamei, you watch the shop yourself. I'm going to the hospital," Tao Ying said to the young girl she had brought over.
"Big sister, you should go tell Wang Baojun's mother first," the junior staff member said anxiously.
"Comrade, thank you. I am Wang Baojun's mother," Tao Ying said politely.
"Stepmother? No wonder... I'm sorry, big sister, I'll go back now." The junior staff member quickly swallowed back the rest of his words.
Tao Ying didn't explain and quickly walked out.
I called Wang Baomin on the way.
When Tao Ying arrived at the hospital, Wang Baomin had already arrived with Zhou Daya.
"Why did you bring your grandma along?" Tao Ying looked at the sweat on Wang Baomin's forehead and Zhou Daya's pale face, and knew what the grandmother and granddaughter had been through.
"This little brat is trying to kill me!" Zhou Daya walked tremblingly toward Tao Ying and complained mercilessly.
"Baomin, you too, what if you scare your grandma badly?" Tao Ying quickly helped the old lady up.
"I was just worried that you wouldn't be able to win the argument if you came alone," Wang Baomin said somewhat guiltily.
Zhao Shuangfeng's family is so unreasonable, what if they beat up her mother?
"Am I really that useless?" Tao Ying said, somewhat displeased.
She felt that her son had underestimated her, and that her own fighting strength had improved, okay?
"Don't you have any clear understanding of yourself?" Zhou Daya rolled her eyes at Tao Ying, then strode into the hospital.
After taking a few steps, he stopped again, turned to Tao Ying, and said, "Hurry up, I don't know where it is."
"Coming, coming!" Tao Ying hurriedly followed.
After making inquiries, they learned that the person was in the operating room. When the three arrived, only Wang Baojun was outside.
The moment Wang Baojun saw Tao Ying arrive, tears suddenly streamed down his face, even though he had been stunned.
He ran a few steps, knelt down in front of Tao Ying, hugged Tao Ying's legs and wailed, "Mom, I was wrong, Mom, I was wrong, I shouldn't have been selfish."
Wang Baojun truly regrets it now; he used to think that his family was a burden to him.
However, over the past six months, Wang Baojun has realized that he is not as outstanding as he thought.
My mother, whom I consider weak, indecisive, and lazy, is actually decisive in her actions.
My younger brother, whom I thought was dull and simple-minded, was actually more responsible than me.
The third brother, who thought himself to be cunning, sly, and selfish, was actually shrewd and filial.
The older sister, whom I thought was weak and useless, is actually brave and self-reliant.
Actually, the family members I've always wanted to get rid of are far more outstanding than me.
Tao Ying looked at Wang Baojun, who seemed like a child, slowly reached out her right hand, suddenly grabbed Wang Baojun's hair, and forcefully pulled him away a little.
"How are your wife and child? Tell me before you cry. What about your mother-in-law's family?" Tao Ying looked at Wang Baojun impatiently.
There's really no reason to hate someone. Even seeing Wang Baojun, who was in such a miserable state, Tao Ying still felt no sympathy whatsoever.
I just found Wang Baojun's crying annoying.
"Zhao Shuangfeng is still inside receiving emergency treatment, and her family members have been taken away by the police," Wang Baojun hurriedly said.
"How is he?" Tao Ying hadn't expected Wang Baojun to be so rational.
"It's not good. The doctor came over and asked me whether I wanted to save the mother or the baby. I said I wanted to save the mother." Wang Baojun wiped away his tears.
"Then you're still a human being." Zhou Daya sat down on a chair to the side.
Tao Ying, however, was not optimistic, as medical technology was not as advanced at that time.
After searching through her memories, Aunt Tao realized that Zhao Shuangfeng wasn't born at this time.
However, many things are changing, and there's no need to believe everything you remember.
About an hour later, the nurse came out. "I'm sorry, neither the mother nor the baby could be saved."
Wang Baojun burst into tears.
"Baojun, go find your second uncle and aunt, and tell your sister to arrange Zhao Shuangfeng's funeral." Tao Ying sighed.
Zhou Daya also sighed. Although she didn't like Zhao Shuangfeng, now that she was dead, there was really nothing she could say.
Wang Baojun stood there dumbfounded, as if he had been stunned.
Tao Ying did not go in to see Zhao Shuangfeng, nor did she comfort Wang Baojun.
Wang Baojun originally wanted Zhao Shuangfeng to stay at Tao Ying's house. "Mom, Shuangfeng is dead, what conflict can't be resolved?" Wang Baojun looked at Tao Ying with red eyes.
“This isn’t a contradiction. The funeral home could have stored the body there, so why did you put it at home? I don’t have any real conflict with Zhao Shuangfeng. The root of all this is you.” Tao Ying had no intention of tolerating Wang Baojun’s actions.
Tao Ying believes that Wang Baojun bears half the responsibility for Zhao Shuangfeng's death.
"Mom, are you still my mom?" Wang Baojun shouted in despair, his eyes filled with resentment as he looked at Tao Ying.
“No, I’m not your mother. You still don’t understand. I’m cutting ties with you not because of Zhao Shuangfeng, but because of you. Zhao Shuangfeng isn’t my daughter, and I don’t need her filial piety or care.” Tao Ying looked calmly at Wang Baojun.
The root of the problem between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law lies primarily with the son.
"Mom?" Wang Baojun stared blankly at Tao Ying.
Some people couldn't believe it; his wife and children were gone, so why was his mother so heartless?
"If you really have a conscience, then you should properly arrange the funeral for them, mother and daughter." Tao Ying sighed and asked Wang Baomin to go to the dumpling funeral home.
Wang Baojun was like a doll whose spirit had been drained.
Aside from Wang Chunni, who still cared about him, no one else really paid him any attention.
Tao Ying even paid for a burial plot for Zhao Shuangfeng and her son.
Three days later, after Zhao Shuangfeng was buried, Tao Ying handed over the funeral expenses she had received to Wang Baojun.
"Keep your things safe. I didn't see you care much when he was alive, but now that he's dead, you don't need to be so heartbroken in front of us," Tao Ying said coldly.
"Mom, is it really necessary to be like this?" Wang Baojun looked at Tao Ying sadly.
"I asked Baomin to come and keep vigil for you," Tao Ying said, preparing to leave immediately.
Wang Baojun stared blankly at Tao Ying's retreating figure, unable to open his mouth for a long time.
I was just sleepy and wanted to take a nap, and I was just hungry and wanted to eat something...
