Chapter Seven: Presenting the Banner

Why can't I fall asleep at five o'clock? I'm not sleepy at all. I'm really awake. I sit up slowly and can't help but get angry when I see Wang Baoshan sleeping like a pig next to me.

"Grandma~" The little girl woke up as soon as Tao Ying moved, rubbing her eyes and looking at Tao Ying blankly.

"Grandma's baby is awake? Does she need to go to the toilet?" Tao Ying immediately changed her previous resentful expression and looked at Li Daya with a loving face.

"Yes." Li Daya nodded quickly and nimbly climbed off the bed.

"Grandma will help you." Tao Ying helped Li Daya put on her shoes, because the ground was too dirty and the little girl was too small to be afraid of stepping on the ground.

However, after glancing at the little girl's dirty shoes with her toes clearly showing, I couldn't help but sigh.

"Thank you, Grandma." Li Daya's eyes crinkled with laughter as she slipped her little hand into Tao Ying's big one, her eyes full of anticipation.

Tao Ying's heart melted instantly, but when she passed by Wang Baoshan, she patted him on the shoulder without any politeness and said, "What time is it? Why aren't you up? Do you think this is your own home?"

Having learned from last night's experience, Wang Baoshan didn't drop it on the ground this time. His son quickly got up, not daring to be grumpy at all, and deftly took the teacup and went out.

After Tao Ying took Li Daya to the toilet, they went to the washroom to wash their faces. When they returned, they saw Wang Dashuan, Li Guiying, and Wang Baomin sitting in the room.

The three of them sat beside Wang Chunni's bed, talking to her. Li Guiying and Wang Baomin's eyes were red. There was breakfast on the table next to them, including tofu pudding, steamed buns, and mantou.

"Da Ya, your uncle made you some malted milk powder." Wang Baoshan said slyly, holding a teacup and moving closer to Li Daya.

"Sister-in-law, let's eat first. Baomin bought everything." Li Guiying was a little embarrassed. She hadn't done anything on this trip except get into a fight with an old woman, but her sister-in-law had given her steamed buns and braised pork. They were staying at a guesthouse tonight, and now she was being fed tofu pudding and big meat buns that she had bought herself. She had never eaten so well in her life.

"Guiying, I'll need you to look after Chunni and the baby for a while. I'm going to the police station." Tao Ying gave everyone a steamed bun, including Li Daya.

“Sister-in-law, we’re all family, why are you speaking like that? Let Da Shuan go with you.” Li Guiying didn’t think it was any trouble at all.

It's only right for an aunt to take care of her niece. What does it mean to be a relative? It means stepping forward when someone needs help.

What's more, her sister-in-law feeds her well, so she should be content.

“No need, Baomin will stay too, I’ll just take Baoshan with me,” Tao Ying refused.

I went there to play the victim. Wang Dashuan and Wang Baomin are both too sturdy. They're nothing like the bean sprout-like Wang Baoshan.

Just standing there with Wang Baoshan, without even saying a word, they looked like a pitiful orphan and widow being bullied.

Besides, the bloodstains on his body were still there.

"Second brother, see? Mom still favors me more." Wang Baoshan immediately looked at Wang Baomin with a smug expression.

Wang Baomin “…”

“Mom, let me go with you. If something happens, Baoshan won’t be able to protect you.” Wang Baomin didn’t feel jealous at all.

Going to the police station isn't a good thing, so what's there to brag about?

“No, you’re too strong. We’re going to the police station, not to settle scores. I’ll go with Baoshan.” Tao Ying glanced at Wang Baomin and refused again.

"Mom, what do you mean I should go?" Wang Baoshan suddenly felt something was off.

"Your demeanor is quite similar to that of a police station officer," Tao Ying said without looking up.

"What kind of aura? Does Mom think I can go to police academy in the future?" Wang Baoshan looked at Tao Ying with great excitement.

"Hmm? Hmm! Do your best." Tao Ying nodded very perfunctorily.

"Mom, I will definitely work hard and study hard when I go back this time, unlike my second brother who was thinking about dating in high school." Wang Baoshan stood up straight, his face full of pride.

"Wang Baoshan, are you itching for a beating?" Wang Baomin clenched his fists, glaring fiercely at Wang Baoshan.

Wang Baomin had always wanted to beat Wang Baoshan up, but his mother always kept a close eye on him, so he didn't dare to do it.

However, according to Wang Baomin's observations these past few days, his mother doesn't seem to care about Wang Baoshan as much anymore. Does that mean the day he has to beat up Wang Baoshan is coming soon?

"Mom~, look at my second brother." Wang Baoshan immediately started to whine to Tao Ying.

Tao Ying couldn't help but rub the goosebumps on her arms. "Baomin, if you're going to beat him up, do it quickly. Don't let him disgust me like this."

Wang Baoshan: "..." You've lost your love, haven't you?

Wang Baomin wondered if it was time for him to take charge.

"Mom, Xiaoxia and I..."

"Shut your hole! If you don't want to eat, get out! Can't even eating stop your hole? What are you eating for? Give it to me!" Tao Ying got angrier and angrier as she spoke, and the sight of the big steamed bun in Wang Baomin's hand made her furious.

She snatched it away, but Wang Baomin had already taken a bite. Tao Ying disgustedly shoved it into Wang Baoshan's hand.

"Baoshan, you ate it all." Tao Ying's tone still carried a hint of anger.

Wang Baoshan instantly transformed into a smug, boasting to Wang Baomin with a smug look on his face.

Wang Baomin didn't dare to mention it again, lowered his head, quietly took a steamed bun, and ate it silently.

The steamed buns were too expensive, so Wang Baomin bought them one per person.

Now that the food has been given to Wang Baoshan, Wang Baomin has no choice but to eat steamed buns, fearing that his mother might not be satisfied and snatch the buns back.

"Mom..." Wang Chunni wanted to give her steamed buns to Wang Baomin, but Tao Ying glared at her, so she immediately lowered her head and dared not say another word.

Tao Ying was angered by Wang Chunni's actions, but kept quiet out of consideration for Li Guiying and Wang Dashuan.

He thought to himself that when he got back he would definitely have to give Wang Chunni a good talking-to about her personality.

After finishing the steamed buns and drinking a bowl of tofu pudding, Tao Ying put down her chopsticks.

Seeing that Tao Ying had put down her chopsticks, Wang Baoshan immediately stuffed the remaining half of the bun into his mouth and said, "Mom, I'm done eating too."

"Okay, then we'll be going now." Tao Ying said cheerfully to the group, and then took Wang Baoshan to get the banner.

"Second Uncle, do you think my mom can go by herself?" Wang Baomin was still a little worried.

Even though Mom is so old, Baoshan still has the personality of a child.

"If you're worried, just follow them secretly," Wang Dashuan said with a sigh.

"How come I didn't think of that?" Wang Baomin's eyes lit up instantly. He put down his chopsticks, picked up half a steamed bun, and quietly followed after them.

Tao Ying and Wang Baoshan took the banner and headed straight to the police station.

Wang Baoshan, who had been full of ambition all the way, was trembling with fear when he arrived at the police station.

"Mom, Mom, can we go back?" Wang Baoshan's voice was trembling with tears. Tao Ying's expression and state didn't seem like someone who had come to present a banner.
