Chapter 291: Unpalatable

"I'm hungry now. Go cook me a bowl of noodles." Qiao Jingzhen sat on the sofa and spoke expressionlessly.

Xue Guixiang then remembered that she hadn't had dinner yet!

Usually her son and daughter-in-law would come home for dinner, and she would cook on time. But today they went out to buy supplies, and she was the only one left at home. If the old lady hadn't reminded her, she would have forgotten to eat.

She quite liked the old lady's straightforward personality and said with a smile, "Okay, wait, I'll go cook noodles for you right away!"

A few days ago, I bought some green onion seedlings and planted them in the open space in the yard. Now the green onions are growing green and lush. Xue Guixiang picked two green onions, washed them under the tap, took them to the kitchen to chop them, stir-fried the green onions, cooked some noodles, and carefully made a poached egg for Qiao Jingzhen.

Finally, add some sesame oil and vinegar to the pot, and a pot of fragrant noodles is ready.

Xue Guixiang filled two bowls, one for Qiao Jingzhen and the other for herself.

When Qiao Jingzhen saw the hot noodles, his expression relaxed a little and he took a bite carefully.

Xue Guixiang smiled and asked, "Aunt Qiao, how does it taste?"

She thought Qiao Jingzhen would at least be polite to her and say it was delicious even if it didn't suit her taste. But she opened her mouth and said two words: "It's unpalatable..."

Xue Guixiang was a little embarrassed. Although her cooking skills were not as good as those of the chefs in state-owned restaurants, her cooking skills had improved by leaps and bounds since her family had a daughter-in-law and the food had improved. Others didn't dare to say anything, but at least her son and daughter-in-law had never said that her cooking was bad.

Unexpectedly, Qiao Jingzhen, who had just arrived, disliked him.

Qiao Jingzhen complained that the food was bad, but at the same time he specially gave face to the old lady and finished the whole bowl of noodles. It seemed that the old lady was really hungry.

After finishing her meal, Xue Guixiang took her to the east room: "Aunt Qiao, you will live in this room from now on. I live across the street. If you need anything, just call me."

"What if you are sleeping soundly and no one responds when I call you?" Qiao Jingzhen looked around the room and even reached out to touch the table to check if there was any dust on it.

Xue Guixiang was choked by her question and didn't know what to say. The old lady had successfully killed the conversation again.

Qiao Jingzhen curled his lips in disdain: "You're so stupid, I'll teach you a trick. If you have any wire at home, find me a piece first, and then find me two old soda bottles."

"Yes! Please wait!" Xue Guixiang nodded hurriedly and turned to go out to look for something.

The wire was bought when tying a clothesline, and there was still a large piece of it. There were two soda bottles on the windowsill, with two dogtail grass stuck in them. Xue Guixiang used them as decorations. She threw away the dogtail grass, washed the bottles, and took the wire and soda bottles to find Qiao Jingzhen.

"Auntie, I found it!"

Qiao Jingzhen took the wire and soda bottle from her hands, used the wire to wrap around the mouth of one of the soda bottles and fixed it in place, then used the same method to wrap around the other bottle.

Xue Guixiang noticed that her fingers were thin, long, white and tender, not like an old person's hands at all.

After wrapping the bottle, Qiao Jingzhen opened the window and asked Xue Guixiang to open the window of her room as well. He passed the soda bottle through the window and placed it on their beds.

After putting it away, Qiao Jingzhen knocked on the bottle and asked, "Did you hear that?"

Xue Guixiang was surprised and happy, "Auntie, I heard it!" She felt that this old lady really had a way.
