Chapter 314 Something Big Happened

Min Ziqian asked cautiously.

Liang Zhengen waved his hand impatiently.

Min Ziqian slowly backed out and helped him close the door.

After leaving Liang Zhengen's office, he ran downstairs quickly, as if he was afraid that he would regret it.

He rode his bicycle and rushed all the way back to his hometown. Because he was too anxious, he fell several times on the way and broke his nose.

His hometown was forty miles away from the county town, but it only took him an hour to get there.

The house was still the same. When he pushed open the shabby fence door, he saw a few spotted hens feeding in the yard. When the chickens saw someone coming in, they looked up at him, then lowered their heads and began to forage for food. It was quiet and warm. Seeing all this, his frightened and anxious heart suddenly calmed down for a moment.

It would have been great if he had continued to work as a substitute teacher in the village, perhaps life would not be as good as it is now.

But he doesn't have to live in fear every day. As long as he can be with his mother every day, isn't that a kind of happiness?

He parked his bicycle in the yard, pushed open the door and walked in. The sunlight shone through the window onto the bed. His mother was sewing shoe soles in the sunlight, stitch by stitch, densely and evenly made. Looking at the size of the soles, he knew they were made for him.

"Mom!" Min Ziqian took a few steps forward, knelt in front of her, and buried his head between her legs.

The old lady was concentrating on sewing a shoe sole when her son returned and knelt before her. What had happened? The needle suddenly pierced her rough finger, oozing a bright red drop of blood. She sucked it with her mouth.

Holding her son's slightly trembling shoulders, she asked gently, "Son, what's wrong with you?"

His mother's voice fell on his dry heart like spring rain, and Min Ziqian suddenly felt that his twisted heart was smoothed out.

Only in his mother's arms did he feel a moment of peace. He sobbed softly, "Mom, I'm sorry. Something terrible has happened."

The old lady wasn't surprised. Her son's expression had already told her everything. She just gently rubbed his head and said softly, "A real man sheds blood, not tears. Even if you got into a terrible disaster out there, there's a way to solve it. What's the point of crying? Tell me what happened. Maybe I can show you a way."

Min Ziqian raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, "Mom, I am incompetent and cannot fulfill my filial duty in front of you. I have made a huge mistake."

"But it was Leader Liang who ordered you to do it?" The old lady's voice trembled slightly.

Min Ziqian nodded.

The old lady understood immediately that something serious must have happened to make her usually calm son so helpless, either murder or arson.

When Leader Liang took a fancy to her son, she was reluctant to let her son follow him because she felt that Leader Liang had an unkind face. Although he was successful now, he would be unlucky one day.

But her son was young and stubborn, and she couldn't persuade him, so she had to go along with his wishes.

She also knew her son was doing this for her. Their family was so poor they couldn't even afford three meals a day, let alone her medical care. But when Liang told her that following him wouldn't be a problem, her son was tempted.

Later, when Leader Liang paid for her surgery, she felt even more that this man had bad intentions.

She had planned to slowly persuade her son to change his mind, but she didn't expect the disaster to come so quickly.

"Son, don't keep it in your heart. Tell me what's going on."
