Before it even touched her cheek, there was a loud slap.
His face was burning, and Ji Bei stared blankly at the angry Xu Xinchen in front of him.
My mind cleared instantly.
The scene from just now flooded his mind, and his face burned. He looked at Xu Xinchen in front of him in a panic, stammering, "Don't... I was being silly just now, I thought I was dreaming..."
Xu Xinchen's chest heaved as she tried to calm herself down.
She turned to leave, but her hand was gripped tightly.
"Don't ignore me like this. I was wrong. I apologize, okay?"
Ji Bei gripped his hand tightly.
Xu Xinchen stood there for a while, thinking, but still felt that she couldn't keep running away like this. She thought that Ji Bei was just joking with her that day, and she didn't take it to heart. She thought that Ji Bei would forget about it soon. At their age, it's normal for hormones to be surging and for people to act impulsively and change their minds.
But Ji Bei's behavior today exceeded her expectations.
His gaze made her uneasy; she needed to make things clear with him.
She sat down in the chair and said to him, "Let me go, I'm not leaving."
Ji Bei glanced at her expression and slowly released his fingers.
“I think we need to have a serious talk, Ji Bei. At your age, the most important thing is to study.”
She spoke to him earnestly, like an older sister educating him.
"I haven't stopped studying, and I'm first in the grade again this time, isn't that enough?"
Ji Bei looked at her with amusement.
Xu Xinchen was speechless after hearing this, and decided to cut to the chase and tell him directly, "I don't like you. You should give up on this idea as soon as possible. There's no future for us."
Her voice was cold, devoid of any warmth, like the coldest ice.
Ji Bei's heart skipped a beat. Her words were like a sharp knife piercing his chest. His expression froze, and he felt his heart turn cold.
How could she be so cruel, so cruel to him?
Xu Xinchen didn't look at his expression, but she didn't regret saying those words. It would be better for both of them to make him give up his idea sooner rather than later.
She took a step, but was pulled back.
The hand that had just been gripping her sleeve tightly again, stubbornly tightened its grip.
"I've already made myself very clear..."
Xu Xinchen frowned, and before she could finish speaking, the world spun around her, and a force instantly pulled her into his arms.
"Lu Minshi, why do you get to make all the decisions... I haven't even agreed yet!"
His deep, husky voice echoed in her ear, his arms tightly wrapped around her waist, their bodies pressed together.
Xu Qingxin raised her eyelids and saw that Ji Bei's eyes were red, his profile was tense, and there were still traces of when he had just fallen asleep on his delicate cheeks, but his expression was extremely painful.
She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her mind was clear, and the confusion from before was gone. She heard herself say firmly, "If you don't let go, Xiao Bei, we will never see each other again."
Ji Bei's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately released her. His head was lowered, so his expression was hidden, but a slight, mocking smile played on his lips. "Lu Minshi, do you hate me that much? Are you using this to threaten me?"
"Xiao Bei, you're still young. You'll meet many girls who are better than me in the future, and they'll be more suitable for you..."
"But I don't like any of them, I only like you!"
Ji Bei raised his head and roared at her.
His gaze was stubborn, determined to reveal his heart to her.
A silence fell over the air, as if the echoes from just moments before still lingered.
Xu Xinchen bit her lip, looked away, and said, "How do you know what the future holds? You might meet another girl, or your heart might change. You can't say for sure."
"Then how do you know I'll change my mind?" Ji Bei looked at her, approaching her step by step, coaxing her gently, "If you're not with me, do you know I'll change my mind?"
He came up to her, placed his hands on the wall behind him, and completely pulled her into his arms.
She could hear his uneven breathing, which tickled her neck.
With a thud, something fell to the ground. The two men froze and looked in the same direction. In the hall, Chen Ningsheng, dressed in a sharp suit, stared at them with his dark eyes blinking, his handsome face showing the rage before a storm.
Before Xu Xinchen could react, the man strode up to her, and she felt a sharp pain in her arm as Chen Ningsheng lifted her up and carried her away.
Ji Bei's furious voice came from behind, "Let her go!"
Xu Xinchen dragged his body backward, struggling hard, and used one hand to dig into his hand, but even though his nails dug deep into his flesh, he didn't make a sound.
She was dragged along by him, staggering, completely controlled by his strength. She was dizzy and disoriented. She couldn't see his expression, but she could see his tense profile.
With a "thud," Xu Xinchen's body went limp, sinking into the soft bed.
She rolled over and got up, only to see Chen Ningsheng slam the door shut. Outside, Ji Bei kicked the door in a fit of rage, yelling, "You fucking open the door!"
With a series of clanging sounds, even the newly installed, sturdy door couldn't withstand such turmoil, trembling and teetering on the verge of collapse.
She stood up, moved to the corner of the wall furthest from him, placed her hands on her chest in a defensive posture, and asked, "What do you want?"
Chen Ningsheng remained motionless, his hands hanging at his sides, his dark eyes fixed on her.
Perhaps it was her imagination, but she sensed a hint of sadness in his eyes.
He felt a warmth spread through his body and his vision was blocked. He rushed forward and pulled her into his arms.
He placed his hand on her waist, buried his face in her shoulder, and murmured, "I've been looking for you all this time."
Xu Xinchen's struggling body suddenly froze, and his tone was fragile, even a little aggrieved.
She raised her hands, about to touch his shoulders, when she suddenly stopped. A woman's face flashed before her eyes, and he was still holding her with those hands.
She felt a wave of disgust and twisted her body, crying, "Let me go..."
With a loud bang, the door collapsed, smashing to the ground and raising a cloud of dust. Ji Bei, standing outside the door, saw the scene inside and his expression instantly changed.
Before Xu Xinchen could react, she fell onto the bed, while the two men on the floor were already fighting each other, throwing punches and kicks with reckless abandon.
"Stop right there!" Unable to step forward to stop them, she could only shout at the two men.
Unfortunately, her words were completely shut out by the two of them.
The two were like two raging lions, their bloodlust unstoppable. Gradually, their faces were bruised. Chen Ningsheng, after all, was trained and more mature and experienced than Ji Bei, a greenhorn. At this moment, he clearly had the upper hand.
Ji Bei's face was covered in bruises, and Xu Xinchen felt like her heart was on fire. As she watched more and more injuries appear on Ji Bei's face, she became extremely anxious.
If Sister Zhao comes back and sees him so badly injured, how am I supposed to explain this to her?
She didn't care anymore, jumped off the bed and rushed over, throwing herself in front of Ji Bei, closing her eyes, and wrapping her arms around his waist.
A gust of wind blew past her ear, stopping just short of it. She knew it was Chen Ningsheng's fist.
