The man's tone was full of disdain, which made Mr. Wang, who was sitting in the back, feel uncomfortable. However, thinking that he still needed the man's help, Mr. Wang took a few deep breaths and forced himself to suppress his frustration.
"Remember this, make sure everything is neat and tidy. Don't let people focus on me before we even get our hands on the goods," Mr. Wang instructed, a ruthless glint flashing across his face as he seemed to have thought of something.
The man shuddered at Mr. Wang's expression. Before he could say anything, Mr. Wang continued, "If it's really dangerous, then take that woman..."
As Mr. Wang spoke, he made a throat-slitting gesture. The man was taken aback by the fierce look on Mr. Wang's face, and then suddenly burst into laughter.
The man reached out and patted him, his face full of admiration: "President Wang is indeed a man of great things. He can do something like murder so readily."
Mr. Wang gave the man a disgruntled look and pointed to the office door: "Alright, stop wasting your breath on me and go clean up this mess."
Upon hearing what Mr. Wang said, the man naturally agreed. He stood up, raised his hand to wave at Mr. Wang, and turned to walk towards the office door.
As he neared the door, he suddenly turned around, a sinister smile on his face: "Mr. Wang, this matter is far more dangerous than anything before. What do you owe me? I trust your own judgment."
"I know, don't I?"
Mr. Wang pressed his hand to his chest, his face slowly turning red: "I understand, I understand. As long as you handle this matter well, I will definitely not treat you unfairly."
As if he had heard a very satisfactory answer, the man nodded, turned around and walked out happily. After a while, President Wang stayed alone in his office, staring at his back with anger in his eyes.
Xu Xinchen is still unaware that she may face the danger of being killed at any time. After staying in this small room for two more days, the situation finally changed.
Having spent two days here, Xu Xinchen tried everything to get close to Zhao Jun, and now the two of them could barely exchange a few words.
Right now, Zhao Jun is holding a sharp knife in his hand, sliding it across Xu Xinchen's foot. The rope that was originally tied to Xu Xinchen's foot is gradually breaking apart with Zhao Jun's movements.
Seeing that her feet were about to be freed, Xu Xinchen couldn't help but smile. When the rope finally broke, Xu Xinchen happily reached out and patted Zhao Jun on the shoulder.
"Thank you, Zhao Jun, you're such a good person." As she spoke, Xu Xinchen looked down at the scar on her ankle.
Just like the places on her arms where the rope had been tied, her feet also had deep marks from the rope. After the rope was removed, the blood flowed more smoothly down her feet without the rope's obstruction.
Xu Xinchen pressed the wounds around her foot with a headache, but as soon as her fingers touched the injured areas, she couldn't help but gasp; it was just too painful.
Zhao Jun frowned slightly as he watched Xu Xinchen's actions, and reached out to slap Xu Xinchen's hand away:
Why are you so restless? Don't you know you shouldn't touch your wound like that right now?
Xu Xinchen looked up. She had been so focused on tending to her wound that she hadn't quite grasped Zhao Jun's words. She stared at Zhao Jun for a while before realizing what he was saying.
After spending the last two days together, Xu Xinchen has gained some understanding of Zhao Jun, realizing that he is a person who appears fierce on the surface, but is not actually a particularly bad person at heart.
Looking back at the wounds on her wrists, where the rope had previously bound them, the bandages had now been removed, and the wounds had begun to scab over.
As Xu Xinchen looked at the medicine, a smile appeared on her face. She waved her hand in front of Zhao Jun and asked, "Could you please get me some more medicine powder and gauze?"
Before Zhao Jun could speak, Xu Xinchen raised her hand and waved it in front of him: "You've already helped me get those medicines and gauze to treat my hands, now you can help me get some to treat my feet. It shouldn't be a big problem, right?"
Zhao Jun didn't say anything at first, but stared at Xu Xinchen with a very strange look. After a long while, he sighed helplessly, stood up, and walked out with the cut rope.
"Wait here and don't move around. You know, feet are not as simple as hands. If you're not careful, you could be disabled for the rest of your life."
Xu Xinchen originally thought Zhao Jun was going to refuse, but unexpectedly, she received such a pleasant surprise. She couldn't care less about anything else and nodded frantically.
"I understand, I understand. Don't worry, I'll stay here and I definitely won't wander off."
Zhao Jun had already reached the door and, upon hearing Xu Xinchen's words, turned his head and softly hummed:
Even if you wanted to walk, you'd need to be able to stand up. Judging by the condition of your legs, you probably wouldn't even be able to move them.
Xu Xinchen was startled and tried to move her foot. Sure enough, she felt a piercing pain. She lowered her head, pursed her lips, and a trace of disappointment flashed across her face.
Because Xu Xinchen had her head down, Zhao Jun couldn't see her expression at all. When he saw her head down, he assumed she was upset about her foot injury.
He reflected on what he had just said and instantly wondered if he had gone too far. Thinking that Xu Xinchen might have been hurt by his words, he raised his hand to his lips and coughed a few times unnaturally.
"I was just saying that casually. Your foot injury isn't serious. It will heal with rest and you won't be crippled easily. You don't need to take my words to heart."
Xu Xinchen wasn't thinking about anything related to being disabled or not; she was just worried about herself. Now, even the slightest movement of her foot was so painful, making it even less likely that she could run away.
The thought that she had been missing for several days and didn't know how Chen Ningsheng was doing made her feel like her heart was being roasted on a fire.
