Zhao Jun didn't speak, and his eyes looked a little strange. Xu Xinchen couldn't figure out what he meant, and the excitement in her heart slowly cooled down, turning into a deeper wariness.
After standing facing each other for a long time, Zhao Jun lazily pointed in a direction: "Don't take this route. Go that way. It will be faster and the road will be smoother."
The tension in Xu Xinchen's heart finally eased at this moment. She opened her eyes wide and looked at Zhao Jun with excitement and gratitude in her eyes: "Zhao Jun, thank you. I knew you were a good person."
Zhao Jun scoffed, his eyes looking disdainful: "I only received money to take you away once, not a second time. And since you ran away on your own, it has nothing to do with me."
As he spoke, Zhao Jun clapped his hands, turned around and walked in another direction, saying as he went, "You escaped on your own. If I hadn't helped you, Sister Hua and the others wouldn't have bothered me. Even if they did, it wouldn't be on my head. Alright, hurry up and go, or you won't be able to leave later."
After walking a few steps, Zhao Jun suddenly stopped and turned back to face Xu Xinchen and the others: "By the way, even if you don't want to take the path I told you about, absolutely do not take this way."
As Zhao Jun spoke, he pointed in another direction: "When the third brother parted ways with me, he went in the direction that was to one side. If you go this way, you might run into the third brother head-on."
After saying that, Zhao Jun seemed to have nothing more to say, quickened his pace, and ran to the other side.
Xu Xinchen bit her lip tightly, suppressing her overwhelming gratitude, and shouted loudly at Zhao Jun's back: "Zhao Jun, no matter what you say, I am really grateful to you for letting me go now. You are indeed a good person."
Zhao Jun didn't turn around, he just waved his hand lightly. His back looked very dashing and unrestrained. The short-haired girl who was supporting Xu Xinchen's arm stared at Zhao Jun with a blank look for a while.
She finally managed to ask, "So, where do we go now? Should we continue along this road, or listen to that man and go that way?"
Xu Xinchen turned her head and glanced in the direction Zhao Jun pointed out, her eyes filled with determination: "Let's go in the direction Zhao Jun said. I trust him. He didn't forcibly take me away, so he must want to help me."
Upon hearing Xu Xinchen's words, Lin Bingchun and the short-haired girl quickly led Xu Xinchen to turn around and walk in the other direction. They had originally decided not to ask Xu Xinchen what had happened.
But suddenly Zhao Jun blocked their way, and the conversation between the two of them revealed too much information. At this point, Lin Bingchun could no longer hold back. While helping Xu Xinchen walk quickly down the mountain, she asked in a low voice.
"Min Shi, what happened to you? Something about your conversation with that man just now sounded a bit off."
Xu Xinchen now knew that Zhao Jun would not take her away, and she also knew that Lao San was searching for her in another direction. Hua Jie had already left long ago, so the tension in her heart dissipated a lot.
Hearing Lin Bingchun's question, she finally felt like answering. She lowered her voice so much that it could be heard by the two people beside her.
"I was kidnapped a while ago."
Upon hearing this, Lin Bingchun and the short-haired woman were immediately stunned, stopping in their tracks and staring at Xu Xinchen with disbelief in their eyes.
"You were kidnapped?" The short-haired girl's eyes were full of surprise. "Then...then...you escaped on your own, right?"
Xu Xinchen originally thought the short-haired girl would ask questions like why she was kidnapped, but she didn't expect her to ask this question. The tension in her heart disappeared instantly.
She cleared her throat and replied, "Yes, I escaped on my own."
Xu Xinchen had barely finished speaking when she saw the short-haired girl's face light up with admiration. Xu Xinchen felt a chill run down her spine and a strange feeling flashed through her mind.
The short-haired girl couldn't figure out what Xu Xinchen was thinking. She was originally supporting Xu Xinchen's arm, but after hearing what Xu Xinchen said, she immediately pressed her whole face against Xu Xinchen's arm and rubbed it hard.
His tone was filled with admiration: "My God, you're so cool! You managed to escape from being kidnapped on your own."
Lin Bingchun's reaction was much more normal than the short-haired girl's. When she heard Xu Xinchen say that she had been kidnapped, her first reaction was to be startled. She was stunned for several seconds before she came to her senses and quickly grabbed Xu Xinchen and looked her up and down.
His eyes were filled with deep worry: "I thought you were trapped in the mountains or something, I never imagined you'd been kidnapped. How are you now? Are you alright? Did they hurt you?"
Xu Xinchen gently shook her head and said in a soft tone, "Initially, there was indeed a man who wanted to..."
I tried to attack, but Zhao Jun, whom we just encountered, stopped me.
As she spoke, Xu Xinchen stretched out her wrist, gesturing for Lin Bingchun and the short-haired girl to look at it: "Apart from these few cuts from the rope, I'm perfectly fine."
Lin Bingchun and the short-haired girl both looked at Xu Xinchen's wrist and, sure enough, saw the marks where the rope had cut into her wrist, which they had overlooked. The wound had almost healed and was no longer the bloody mess it had been when she was first injured.
Instead, a patch of new flesh had grown. At first glance, one would only notice a slight difference in skin color on the wrist and wouldn't pay much attention to it. It's no wonder the two women didn't see it.
Lin Bingchun's heart skipped a beat. She grabbed Xu Xinchen's wrist and examined it carefully: "Your injury looks so serious. How tightly were you tied up back then? These people are bastards!"
The short-haired girl quickly chimed in, "Exactly! This wound, oh my god, it looks so scary now. How terrible must it have been when you first got injured? Was it extremely painful?"
