But before they could even rest for two minutes, the knocking on the door started again:
"Knock knock... Is the Gao family home?"
He got up from the sofa, walked over, and opened the door:
"Sister-in-law Bai?"
Bai Aiping was holding a small covered basin. Her already plump figure seemed even rounder because of the New Year. Before, you could still vaguely see the outlines of her breasts, but now they were perfectly round. She was smiling at Ye Wanying.
"I just heard you've returned, so I'm sending you a portion of the freshly steamed rice cake. Please don't mind it."
Ye Wanying certainly wouldn't complain. Sister-in-law Bai had already come to her door with great enthusiasm. If she complained, she might really be considered a bad person.

Ye Wanying took the small basin to the kitchen and also filled a plate with melon seeds and peanuts.

Ye Wanying's lips twitched slightly:
"There's no evidence for this. Is it just based on what people say?"
The saying "three men can make a tiger" applies to everyone, right?
Sister Bai shook her head, then continued:
"How can there be no evidence? It's just a coincidence. Engineer Lin knew about this and even submitted a leave application. That morning, before he even left our office, Engineer Lin's wife actually showed up on her own. Isn't that just walking right into a trap?"
The woman was incredibly stubborn, resolutely denying everything and even threatening suicide to prove her innocence, making everyone somewhat skeptical. Lin, being a grown man who was often away from home and felt guilty towards his wife, actually believed her too.
At this point, a resentful expression clearly appeared on Sister Bai's face.
Ye Wanying remained silent, waiting for Sister-in-law Bai to continue.
When gossiping, it's not fun if you jump straight to the point. You have to keep the conversation going by revealing half of what you know and leaving the other half open.
