Gu Yujin's brows were furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly. He didn't move, letting Zhao Lan stroke his face. After a while, he finally spoke:
"Mom, why don't you find a man who treats you well?"
This idea was something Gu Yujin had since he was a child.
As I've said, none of the Gu family members are stupid. Even though Gu Yujin was young at the time, he could still tell that his parents' relationship was worse than that of strangers.
From childhood to adulthood, I've always seen my mother chasing after my father, but sadly, I've never received a single response from her.
As a son, seeing this would surely break his mother's heart.
But I also know that my mother stole someone else's husband, and this is the result of her own actions. Moreover, over the years, my mother has shown no sign of backing down.
When he was young, he felt helpless. But as he grew a little older, Gu Yujin became rebellious. In such a dysfunctional family, it was a blessing that he would rebel.
In fact, many acts of rebellion in youth are simply attempts to get the attention of parents.
Unfortunately, many parents don't get it at all, and Zhao Lan is no exception.
This wasn't the first time Gu Yujin had offered such words of comfort; in the past, Zhao Lan would directly reject them and give him a severe scolding.
But this time, Zhao Lan responded directly:
"If there's a suitable option, Mom will consider it. Since you like being here, stay here and take good care of yourself. Mom's biggest wish is for you to be safe and sound."
Gu Yujin sensed something was amiss, but knowing her mother wouldn't tell her, she could only keep quiet for the time being.
"Okay, I understand," he replied.
Zhao Lan didn't stay any longer. After giving a few more simple instructions, she drove away.
Gu Yujin watched the car disappear from sight, then picked up his briefcase and turned to leave.
Once they reached a secluded spot, he took out his hidden phone and skillfully dialed a number.
The call was answered quickly, but there was a lot of noise on the other end. Gu Yujin could hear it and guessed what kind of environment the other person was in. After all, Gu Yujin used to be one of them.
"What brings you to call me today, Ajin?" His tone clearly carried a hint of alcohol.
Over here, Gu Yujin frowned slightly and asked:
Has something happened to the Zhao family recently?
Forehead?
The moment that question was asked, the person on the other end of the phone, who had just been reeking of alcohol, instantly sobered up.
"Huh? The Zhao family? No, I haven't heard anything about the Zhao family! Ah Jin, why are you suddenly asking this?"
Gu Yujin took a deep breath:
"Are you with Chuanzi and the others?" I asked.
"Yeah, the usual place, you know what I mean."
"Then ask them if they know anything?"
"Okay, wait a minute, I'll put it on speakerphone."
Gu Yujin responded with a "Mm".
Over there, a clearer cacophony soon followed. These rich, spoiled brats were truly something else; they were already partying before it even got dark.
"Holy crap, hold on a second, something's come up with Ajin." The voice clearly belonged to the person who had answered the phone earlier.
The loud music suddenly stopped, and everything fell silent.
Soon, a second person approached:
"Ajin? It really is you? Instead of being a good pig farmer, are you missing our main force? Welcome back anytime!"
As soon as he finished speaking, others chimed in, "That's right, that's right, it's no fun for us now that Ajin's gone."
