Chapter 008 Teaching a Lesson to a Brat
"Why would I smash it for you?"
Li Banxia frowned, looking at her youngest daughter, whose features resembled Old Man Su's by seven or eight points. At only eleven years old, she had already grown into a graceful young lady. She couldn't understand why, despite how much she doted on her, her daughter had become so cold towards her as she grew up.
“...How dare you speak to your sister-in-law like that? Speak properly to me. If you can’t learn to speak properly, don’t ever open your mouth again.”
Su Hongmei was somewhat incredulous. "Mom, I'm your own daughter. How can you side with an outsider and criticize me?"
"Who are the outsiders?"
Li Banxia couldn't resist and grabbed another sandal from beside the hand pump, throwing it at her. "You might as well starve to death. You're an eleven-year-old girl, and you still can't tell the difference between inside and outside, huh?"
"mom!"
Su Hongmei jumped aside, complaining, "Isn't that something you always say yourself?"
Li Banxia choked for a moment.
"...Mom was wrong. Your sister-in-law is family now that she's married into our family. Don't say things like that again, or you'll get a beating!"
Su Hongmei exclaimed "Ah!", frowned, and pouted, looking very unwilling.
He mumbled indistinctly, "They don't even share our surname..."
“Su Hongmei, your biological mother doesn’t even share your surname. Do you not even want me, your own mother, anymore?” Li Banxia’s heart ached as she thought of her youngest daughter, whom she cherished dearly, and the look in her eyes when she said, “You won’t make it through,” which showed that she didn’t care about her at all.
Su Hongmei pouted, "Mom, I didn't mean that."
Li Banxia looked at her coolly, then glanced at the sandals.
Su Hongmei keenly sensed that her mother wanted to hit her, and quickly nodded, "Mom, I was wrong, I won't say such things again."
Li Banxia remained noncommittal and walked past her back into the house.
"Mom, I'm hungry. When can we eat?"
"You've said some nasty things today, so you're not getting any food!"
Li Banxia didn't turn around, and simply said, "No one is allowed to feed her, so that she can learn her lesson."
Su felt that these words were directed at him and his wife, so he pulled his wife aside and nodded.
Su Hongmei stared blankly as Li Banxia entered the house, then burst into tears and ran back to her own room.
The eldest son's wife blinked and asked Su, the eldest son, "You really won't cook for your little sister?"
"Listen to your mother," Old Master Su said.
The eldest son's wife hummed in agreement twice.
The two then returned to their own room.
Su Lao Er and Su Lao San returned shortly afterward, only to find the kitchen empty; no food had been left for them.
The answer is always the same: "Those who make mistakes don't get to eat."
Su Lao Er felt guilty and held back.
Su Laosan protested, "Mom, I didn't do anything wrong, why don't I get any food?"
Li Banxia grabbed the large tea mug that Old Man Su had written "Serve the People" on, and smashed it, hitting Old Man Su squarely on the forehead.
"ah!"
Screams suddenly erupted in the courtyard.
Su Laosan wailed, "Mom, it hurts!"
“It’s good that it hurts; otherwise, you won’t learn your lesson,” Li Banxia said from inside the house.
This familiar formula prompted Su Lao Er to tiptoe back into the house, trying to minimize his presence.
"Su Fengtiao, do you think your mother is stupid or blind? When your second brother was jumping around in the yard trying to take advantage of your eldest brother and sister-in-law, why didn't you come out from the side?"
Mentioning this made Li Banxia angry. "Did I teach you to stand by and watch someone die, or did I teach you to be heartless? You didn't help your older brother and sister-in-law when they were bullied, and you didn't help persuade your second brother when he did something wrong. All you think about is how to swindle money from me, right?"
Su Laosan, "..."
"No, Mom, one is my eldest brother and the other is my second brother. So who should I side with and who shouldn't I side with? If I side with one, I'll offend the other. Can't I just stay neutral?"
Li Banxia laughed in exasperation, "...You're quite good at making excuses for yourself."
"Mom, I'm hungry. If you won't give me food, give me some money. I didn't dare ask you for money today because you were angry. I went to my boyfriend, but I didn't have any money in my pocket and couldn't even afford an ice cream bar. My boyfriend is so angry that he won't talk to me anymore." Su Laosan chuckled twice, taking advantage of the situation.
Li Banxia: "No! Earn your own money."
"ah?"
Su Laosan was dumbfounded. What's going on?
What does it have to do with him that his older brother and second brother are arguing? Why is he taking his anger out on him?
Hearing Su Laosan being scolded, Su Laoer and Su Xiaomei, who were hiding in the house, felt relieved.
Mom wasn't targeting just them.
Mom, she's attacking indiscriminately.
After scolding Su Laosan, Li Banxia turned the small mirror upside down on the desk, stood up, walked to the bedside and kicked it, "Su Youfu, I don't want to sleep in the same bed with you, go sleep outside."
"Li Banxia, are you ever going to stop?"
Old Man Su was furious. Not only did she take her eldest son and his wife out to eat without giving him any, but she also didn't bring him anything back. She wouldn't even let him get a proper night's sleep.
Li Banxia stood by the bed, quietly watching him.
Old Man Su gritted his teeth, got out of bed, grabbed his pillow, and went outside.
Li Banxia walked over and locked the door, then took a wet towel and wiped the bamboo mat on the bed again.
Thinking that Old Man Su had just slept on this bed, she felt disgusted and took a sheet from the closet and spread it on top.
I'm thinking of buying a new mat during my lunch break tomorrow.
Lying in bed, watching the large ceiling fan spinning loudly on the beam, Li Banxia began to think.
I think about the significance of her rebirth this time.
She was born in 1988 and is only 43 years old, a time when she is full of energy and in good health.
She has a stable and well-paid job, and today she even got Old Man Su's salary into her own hands, so... it's a pretty good time to be reborn.
Li Banxia sighed.
If only I could be reborn a little earlier, back to when I was eighteen, I would definitely listen to my mother's advice and not marry Su Youfu!
They're eating what's in their bowl while eyeing what's in the pot, not even knowing what it is!
She has several children, but she really doesn't want them anymore.
But think about it carefully, why should we?
She raised them and fulfilled her responsibilities as a mother, but what about them?
How did those worthless bastards treat her?
In her past life, she toiled herself to buy each of their families a house. In Beijing 20 years ago, a 100-square-meter house sold for tens of millions of yuan. What more could they ask for?!
In the end, using her favoritism as an excuse to evade her care in old age is utterly ridiculous.
What have the eldest son and his wife ever asked for? Ever since they separated and she sold her job to the second son as capital for his business, they have never asked her for a single penny!
On the contrary, every time he came to see her, he would bring big bags and small bags, afraid that she didn't have money and would give her some to spend.
Li Banxia choked up when she thought of her eldest grandson whom she had lost, her nose stung and her eyes reddened.
She let out a long sigh and closed her eyes.
She tried her best to fulfill her children's every request, but what was the result?
These heartless bastards, she's like a mother when she needs money, but when it comes to taking care of you, she has no money, no energy, and no time. They want to stay out of it and push all the responsibility onto the eldest son and his wife, right?
Dream on!
A bunch of ingrates!
Apart from the eldest child, she believes she tried her best to treat everyone equally in her past life!
They think she's favoring the eldest son because of that dilapidated courtyard?
You think she's biased, right?
