She paused, glancing at Boss Su.

The two children, the older one sitting on a stool like a little adult, scooped food from their bowls with small spoons, thanking the adults for the food they kept putting on their plates. They would frown when they saw food they didn't like, and smile when they saw food they liked. Su Laosan was amused by his little nephew's smiling face and laughed heartily.
The little one would stuff a mouthful of rice into her mouth, then scramble off the stool and circle around an adult's back, babbling incomprehensible words. Once she finished her food, she would immediately pick an adult, scramble up onto their lap, and point out food, asking the adult to pick it up and feed it to her. After getting her desired food, she would climb down and circle around them again and again, never seeming to get tired.
The food smelled delicious, and steam rose from the lamp above the dining table. The room was filled with laughter and chatter.
Su Laoda's heart was instantly healed.
After dinner, the couple read in the study. Su Laosan played with his nephew and niece for a while, then handed them over to Arno and Grandma Qiu to put to sleep. He then went to call Su Laoda out for a chat.
He placed a few small dishes outside, warmed a small pot of fruit wine with little alcohol content, poured the wine, and pushed it to Boss Su.
The two brothers downed a drink and chatted for a bit before Su Laosan finally got to the point, asking Su Laoda, "Big brother, did something happen at school? You seemed a bit distracted this afternoon..."
Boss Su put down his cup and hummed in agreement.
"Really?"
Old Su frowned. "Tell me, is someone causing trouble? I'll go help you..."
"No," Old Master Su said.
Su Laosan looked at him, puzzled.
Boss Su gave a half-hearted laugh. "It's about my little sister."
He told Su Laosan about his visit to Su Hongmei, and Su Laosan's expression immediately turned sour.

Boss Su opened his mouth, wanting to ask if the honest man he was referring to was him.
