Chapter 94 Don't you deserve it?
"Second brother, what are you thinking?"
Su Lao Er raised his eyes, quickly glanced at Li Banxia, awkwardly turned his face away, and said, "What could I be thinking? I wasn't thinking anything. If my third uncle doesn't survive, that bastard won't survive either!"
Upon hearing him mention Li Sange, Li Banxia's mind was filled with the image of her third brother lying lifeless in the intensive care unit, covered in tubes. Her throat tightened, and her eyes welled up with tears.
She closed her eyes, slowly exhaled, stood up, and left the room.
"Oh, Mom..."
Su Laosan called out, but Li Banxia didn't turn around.
Su Laosan frowned and turned to look at Su Laoer, saying, "Second brother, would it kill you to apologize to Mom?"
Su Lao Er glared at Su Lao San.
Su Laosan chuckled, "You're still not convinced? If your mother hadn't reminded you, you'd probably be begging to marry that walking green hat of yours right now..."
Ignoring Su Lao Er's face, which was as black as the bottom of a pot, Su Lao San shook his head and swayed his body.
"...I really don't understand you. Can being good-looking put food on the table? You did something wrong and you still act all high and mighty like a big shot! Don't you think you deserve it?! Oh, do you only feel happy when everyone abandons you and your parents don't care about you anymore?"
"Su Fengtiao, shut the hell up! What's it to you? What's so great about you? You're as gossipy as a nagging old woman!" Su Lao Er retorted through gritted teeth.
Su Laosan rolled his eyes and scoffed, "You think I care about you? I'm only trying to help you because I know Mom doesn't want to see us brothers washing walls. Maybe Mom will treat my Erniu as well as my sister-in-law when she thinks I brought you back to the right path. Then I can sweet-talk Mom and she might just wave her hand and let me not have to go to work. Then I can... hehehe."
Su Lao Er laughed in anger.
"How much better are the things you've done than mine? You think Mom will let you not work and freeload? You're dreaming! And... what kind of bullshit brotherly wall-washing is that? That's called brothers fighting amongst themselves! The fourth tone, '阋,' is the '儿' inside the character for 'door'..."
Su Laosan interrupted, "One son? What kind of brother is that, washing the wall?"
Su Lao Er, "..."
"Ignorant idiot, is your brain filled with mush? I told you to study properly, but you're as lazy as a pig..."
Su Laosan curled his lip and scoffed, "You think you're so good at studying? You think you know so much? If you're so capable, why don't you go to university? Is it because you don't like it?"
"Su Feng Diao!"
Su Lao Er gritted his teeth, so angry his nose was practically steaming, and rolled up his sleeves, ready to beat up Su Lao San, who always brought up the most inappropriate topics.
Boss Su quickly stepped forward to stop them, "Alright, alright, you two should both shut up. You clearly care about each other, so why do you have to say the opposite of what you mean..."
"I wasn't lying, he's just a lazy, stupid pig!" Su Lao Er grabbed Su Lao Da's arm and gritted his teeth at Su Lao San.
Su Laosan also spat, "I didn't say anything sarcastic. He mocked me as a pig, so can't I be angry with him?!"
Boss Su, “…cough cough, ‘sarcasm’ is an idiom.”
Su Laosan stared wide-eyed at Su Laoda, "Big brother, you're scolding me too!"
Boss Su looked bewildered. "...I didn't."
"You have!"
Su Laosan was panting heavily, clenching his fists and angrily turning to go to the bathroom. His bladder was about to burst, and he would deal with Su Laoer later!
How dare she instigate her older brother to bully her!
My aunt can tolerate it, but my uncle can't!
Seeing that there was a shower in the bathroom, Su Laosan raised his hand to smell the stench of sweat on his body, took off his undershirt, and took a shower to cool down.
When he came out again and didn't see his elder brother, he frowned and asked Su Lao Er, who was sitting on a chair by the window looking down.
"Where's my older brother?"
Su Lao Er didn't turn around. "Big brother, go out and call your sister-in-law."
"oh."
Su Laosan responded by calling out to Su Laoer, "You can take a shower inside. Second brother, you should hurry up and wash off that stinky sweat. It's suffocating."
Su Lao Er turned his head and glanced at him, noticing that his hair was wet, and frowned.
Su Laosan chuckled, "If we don't wash it, it's not worth it. We paid for it."
Su Lao Er thought about it and realized it made perfect sense, so he stood up and went in for a shower.
When she came out, she was carrying a tattered short-sleeved shirt, revealing her back.
The large iron stab wound was like an unsealed frame, with three bloody cuts that were still oozing blood.
Su Laosan gasped several times upon seeing this.
He took two steps over, grabbed Su Lao Er's shoulder, and looked at his back. "Second Brother! Your wound is still bleeding! That old bastard was too ruthless. If that iron hammer had hit you any higher, it would have hit your head..."
Goosebumps instantly rose on his arms, and he felt a chill run down his spine. He cursed, "Damn it, his ancestors for eighteen generations!"
"Second brother, does it hurt?"
Su Lao Er glanced at him sideways, "Try hitting me like that and see if it hurts."
"Why didn't you say so at the hospital?"
Su Laosan spat at him, "Why don't we go to the hospital? It's right next door..."
"I'm not going!"
Seeing that he was disobedient, Su Laosan glared at him several times in anger, but the injury on Su Laoer's back looked really scary. He swallowed a few times and admitted defeat, "Alright, I'll go through the trouble to find you some medicine. I'll see this through to the end."
Su Lao Er remained noncommittal.
Su Laosan opened the door and went out.
Su Lao Er walked back to the window, sat down, and looked out the window.
The pitch-black sky resembled a monster that devoured people, with only two lights shining in front of the hotel, barely illuminating an area of about ten meters from the entrance.
Su Lao Er saw Su Lao San walk out of the hotel...
A short while later, Su Laosan returned with a bottle of medicine powder and a roll of gauze.
Tell Su Lao Er, "My eldest brother was worried about my sister-in-law being home alone, so he took a taxi back."
Su Lao Er nodded.
Ask him, "Did you buy the medicine or did your older brother buy it?"
Su Laosan exclaimed, "Second Brother, what did you say?"
Su Lao Er glanced at him and said, "Forget it, just apply the medicine and bandage me."
"...The powder is for stopping bleeding and reducing inflammation. You just got wet, so I'm wondering if we should disinfect it first? It shouldn't be a problem, right..."
After they finished tidying up, they went to bed.
As dawn approached, Brother Li drove back with Sister-in-law Li through the night.
Upon seeing his younger brother lying in the intensive care unit, Brother Li's eyes instantly reddened, and a hint of murderous intent flickered in his eyes. Sister-in-law Li quickly nudged him.
Brother Li glanced at his wife, and his expression slowly returned to calm.
"Mom and Dad, don't worry. Yuanzhi has received the news and is already contacting his college classmate in Shanghai. His classmate's teacher is a neurosurgeon. When the doctor comes to work later, I'll go get the information and send it over to see if there's any way to help them."
The elderly couple didn't sleep all night, keeping an eye on their third son in the intensive care unit. Overnight, they had a few more strands of white hair at their temples. When they heard their eldest son's words, their eyes lit up at the same time.
"Okay, tell Yuanzhi that we'll do anything as long as there's hope, no matter the cost."
