Chapter 300 If you're so capable, then don't come back.
She felt she had so much to say to Li Banxia.
But when the words reached her lips, she couldn't utter a single one.
What should we say first?
What did you say next?
To say she was young and ignorant, loved the wrong person and married the wrong person, that she deserved to suffer this pain because of her own fault?
Say, "Mom, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn't have disobeyed you..."
She didn’t know how heartbroken and upset her mother was when she heard those words from her eldest brother while her third uncle was being resuscitated in the operating room.
When she knew she was lying in the operating room waiting to die, her biggest thought was, "Mom, I was wrong."
She still remembers her mother saying, "...if an iron nail is driven into a tree, even if the nail is pulled out, the damage to the tree cannot be erased."
Time cannot be turned back. Even if you try your best to make up for the mistakes you made, you can never go back to the way things were.
The faint sound of a rooster crowing reached her ears, and Su Hongying's tears instantly fell.
She paused for a moment, then knelt at the door and kowtowed several times, murmuring, "Mom, I'm leaving."
She wiped her eyes, stood up, turned around, and walked away resolutely.
As dawn broke, Su Laosan got up to sweep the yard. When he reached the front gate, he saw a paper package lying in the corner. He opened it and found money and a letter left by Su Hongying inside. His brows furrowed instantly.
Su Laosan read it quickly and found that Su Hongying was going to go south to work and earn money. He cursed angrily!
"Su Hongying, are you out of your mind! You ran over there without a word, do you believe I won't even know how you died? You worthless piece of trash..."
He threw down the broom, opened the gate and ran out. He ran all the way to the street but found it was too early and there were no taxis in sight. He quickly turned back and ran back to ride his bicycle.
Seeing Li Banxia get up, she yelled at her, "Mom, that damn Su Hongying... ugh! That brat left money and a letter saying she's going to take the train south alone. I'm going to the train station to see if I can stop her?"
After saying that, he cursed, "Do you think I need her few cents?! Don't you know that it's better to have some money on you when you're poor and need to be prepared to travel?"
Su Laosan practically dragged the car out of the yard.
Li Banxia was stunned by his shout and subconsciously chased after him for a few steps, but Su Laosan had already jumped into the car and sped away.
He rushed to the train station and just then a train to Guangzhou was urging passengers to board. Su Laosan bought a platform ticket, chased after the passengers onto the platform, and ran from front to back along the train carriages.
He ran while shouting Su Hongying's name.
"Attention passengers, train T89 bound for Guangzhou is about to depart. Passengers who have not yet boarded, please board as soon as possible..."
The loudspeaker repeatedly broadcasted messages urging passengers to board the train, carrying far along with Su Laosan's voice, but Su Laosan received no response until the train started moving.
There are only two trains a day to Guangzhou, one in the morning and one in the evening. He was certain that Su Hongying was on this train, and he angrily shouted and cursed.
"Su Hongying, you're crazy! No matter how many opportunities there are to make money in the South, you still have to be capable of earning it! Do you know how many robberies there are over there? You can't survive on your own!"
He ran and shouted, and many people looked at him through the car windows. "Su Hongying! Where are you? I'll give you his contact information. You can find him when you get there. He's your uncle's comrade-in-arms. He'll definitely be able to help you!"
Su Hongying still did not show up.
Su Laosan, at his wit's end, stood there with his hands on his hips, cursing, "Su Hongying, don't you dare cower and keep quiet! You dare to run away alone, so why don't you dare to face me?! Mom snatched your life from Fourth Aunt in the middle of the night, and you're just going to waste it like this? You bastard..."
Su Laosan was panting heavily, his hands that were on his hips were now supporting his legs, and beads of sweat dripped down his forehead. His ears were ringing from all the breathing.
"Third Brother."
Suddenly, Su Hongying's voice came from beside him. Su Laosan paused in his heavy breathing, thinking he was hallucinating. He looked up blankly at the green train on his right.
A head popped out of the car window not far in front of him—who else could it be but that brat Su Hongying?!
Su Laosan's eyes reddened, and he lifted his foot to run over, but he stumbled and fell straight forward.
"Third Brother!" Su Hongying exclaimed in surprise.
Fortunately, Su Laosan quickly regained his balance and ran to her. He reached out to look for a pen, but he didn't like studying and didn't usually carry a pen with him, so where would he find one?
Just as the train was about to speed up, he gritted his teeth, bit his index finger, and hissed, "Ouch, that really hurts!"
Looking at the blood on his finger, Su Laosan scribbled a string of numbers on the paper packet while cursing, then ran and shoved it into Su Hongying's hand, shouting, "This is my uncle's comrade-in-arms' phone number. Contact him when you get there. I'll also let him know in advance so he can pick you up at the train station. Your third sister-in-law's cousin is with him too, so you'll have some company..."
"Third Brother..."
Su Hongying looked at his still bleeding fingers, her throat tightened, she quickly blinked away the tears welling up in her eyes, and smiled as she said okay.
"You heartless bastard! My brother and I were waiting for you to finish dealing with the Zhang family's affairs and come home, but you just ran off like a shot! If you've got the guts, don't ever come back!"
When Su Laosan saw her smile, he cursed her fiercely.
"Okay," Su Hongying said softly.
Su Laosan was stunned, then glared at her angrily, "You dare! Believe me or not, I'll break your legs..."
"Third brother, don't follow my example if you're unfilial." Su Hongying smiled at him.
Su Laosan pouted, his eyes brimming with tears. He wanted to cry but held them back, and cursed, "You know that too! Mom is still waiting for you to come home and take care of her. You ran so far away, you good-for-nothing..."
The train began to accelerate, and as it went faster and faster, the station staff started stopping the people seeing it off from running alongside the train.
Su Laosan waved his hand, watching Su Hongying walk further and further away, a strange panic rising in his heart, "Su Hongying!"
Su Hongying waved her hand.
He shouted loudly, "Third Brother, you're all alright."
Su Laosan broke down immediately, tears streaming down his face. "Su Hongying, you take good care of yourself too. Remember to call home. Think things through carefully, and don't assume someone is a good person just because they say a few nice things..."
Su Hongying kept saying yes.
Once Su Laosan was completely out of sight, she covered her eyes, tears streaming down her face, some into her palms.
Across from her, a woman in her forties or fifties quietly reached out to touch her paper bag.
Su Hongying stopped crying, instinctively clutching the paper package tighter, staring at her and shouting, "What are you doing?"
"Hey girl, is that money wrapped in this newspaper? It looks like it. How much money is such a big bundle?"
The woman smiled broadly, but her eyes remained fixed on the paper package. "Your third brother is so good to you, but it's not safe for a young girl like you to carry around and sell for so much money. If you trust me, I'll hold it for you. Look at my husband, he's very capable. Give him the money..."
As she spoke, she gave the man a wink, signaling him to take the paper package away.
The man had a scar on his face that looked quite frightening. After hearing the woman's words, he reached out to snatch Su Hongying's paper bag!
