Chapter 119 Overcoming Difficulties Together

The attending physician had just changed his clothes and came out; it looked like he was about to go home.

"Doctor, my nephew is very ill. Could we please change him to a private room?" Qin Xiaoyu hurriedly stopped him.

"No," the doctor replied dismissively, probably still harboring resentment towards his cousin's wife.

"My sister-in-law just had a shock, please don't blame her. The baby's condition is not good, and it's impossible to take care of him in the big room, please..." Qin Xiaoyu said in a low voice.

"You're just ordinary locals, yet you act so arrogantly when you come to the military hospital for treatment. Who spoiled you like that?" The attending physician, who also had a short temper, lost his temper when he saw Qin Xiaoyu nagging him.

"Doctor, you've been on the operating table for over ten hours, you've worked so hard. We, your family, have caused you trouble, we're truly sorry. You should go home and rest now, but... please, don't hold it against us, help us out." Qin Xiaoyu had already gone all the way.

"The patient needs monitoring, and it's really inconvenient, so it can't be done..." The head nurse couldn't stand it anymore and said half a sentence before the attending physician could back down.

"What do you mean no? Just put her in that room. If she doesn't want to stay there, transfer her to another hospital!" The attending physician raised his hand and shoved Qin Xiaoyu hard before striding out.

"Stop! What are you doing!" Zhou Yue barged in.

She had been waiting at the school, but Qin Xiaoyu hadn't returned after a while, so she couldn't stand it any longer and came to see what was going on.

"This is outrageous! What do you all think this place is?! Let me tell you, this is a military hospital, understand? A military hospital!" The attending physician, not expecting Zhou Yue to be so arrogant, immediately pointed at her and started yelling.

"You're talking nonsense! Do you think I don't know this is a military hospital? It's written on the sign! I'm just asking you, who are you being so arrogant to?" Zhou Yue had never suffered such humiliation in her life, and she slapped the attending physician's finger.

"Hey! You dare to hit me!" The attending physician pushed away the two nurses who were holding him and punched him. Zhou Yue was caught off guard and was hit in the chest, crying out in pain.

Qin Xiaoyu was terrified and quickly shielded Zhou Yue behind her. The attending physician raised his hand and slapped her face.

"Stop!" A sharp shout came from the corridor, and everyone turned around. Several officers had arrived, and Qin Xiaoyu recognized the leader as Staff Officer Zheng.

"Staff Officer Zheng, he, he hit me!" Zhou Yue burst into tears, pointing at the attending physician with a wronged expression.

Upon seeing Staff Officer Zheng's rank, the attending physician's imposing manner softened, but he was still somewhat unconvinced.

"This is a military hospital. No one can cause trouble here, not even the Emperor himself," the attending physician stubbornly insisted.

Staff Officer Zheng walked up to him with a livid face, leaned close to his ear and whispered a few words. The chief physician's face turned pale instantly; he had been so aggressive just moments before, but now he was cowering in fear.

Tang Long was moved to the best ward, and his attending physician also gave up his shift to serve him diligently, running around for him the whole time.

"Doctor, I'm very sorry for what happened. You've worked so hard too. Please go home if you have nothing else to do," Qin Xiaoyu said softly, pulling the attending physician aside.

"No, no need. I can stay here. The patient is in critical condition right now, so it's only right that I'm here." The attending physician said, glancing at Zhou Yue, who was following behind Qin Xiaoyu and glaring at him menacingly. He had just heard that this was the commander's darling daughter, and he was terrified.

"We also bear some responsibility for this. It's alright, Xiaoyue isn't an unreasonable person, don't worry." Qin Xiaoyu breathed a sigh of relief after persuading the attending physician to leave.

Some things are best left unsaid; always leave room for maneuver.

When Tang Long woke up, he was not very lucid, but he indicated that he was temporarily out of danger.

"Sister-in-law, to put it bluntly, you have to hold on. If you collapse, your whole family will collapse. Xiaolong may have lost an eye, but he's alive. What could be more important than that?"

Qin Xiaoyu took her cousin-in-law aside and began to counsel her. She was in a daze, like she had gone mad. She did whatever she was told without saying a word, which was quite frightening.

“This child is so proud, what will we do if he finds out?” My cousin-in-law sniffled and started crying again.

“Sister-in-law, we are his parents, we can’t act rashly. No matter how strong-willed he is, he still has to get through this on his own; we can’t do it for him. But we have to do our part, right? We have to pull him along, drag him along, and get him out of this.”

"Okay, Xiaoyu, I'll do whatever you say." My cousin-in-law finally nodded.

Qin Xiaoyu had already sent Zhou Yue back, telling her to take good care of the two children and not to send them back yet.

"Do I need to take care of you? Do you think I can take that away from you?" Zhou Yue pouted.

"Mom and Dad, you should go back first. Don't leave Madam alone at home. Take good care of her." Qin Xiaoyu also made arrangements for Hanhan's grandparents.

"Brother, come home with me. Let your wife and Fengqin stay here while we go get some things." Qin Xiaoyu brought her cousin out.

She helped tidy up some daily necessities and a change of clothes. Looking at Tang Long's neatly tidied desk, she felt a pang of sadness and couldn't help but shed tears again.

"My wife is asleep. I didn't dare tell her it was that serious. I just said she fell," Grandma Hanhan whispered as she slipped in.

"Yes, that's it. Keep things stable at home. I'll let you know if anything happens." Qin Xiaoyu gave a few more instructions before returning to the hospital.

Tang Long's condition is unstable. His condition fluctuated over the past two days, and the doctor issued several critical condition notices, which was very distressing.

On the third day, the high fever finally subsided, and the patient calmed down.

The accident handling notice arrived, and my cousin had no choice but to go there.

"That day I was so uneasy, I just felt really uneasy. Who knew something like this would actually happen?" My cousin's wife said sadly, staring blankly out the window.

"Sometimes, it really is fate that deliberately arranges hardships, perhaps to make Xiaolong even more outstanding."

"How can you be outstanding? You've lost an eye, you don't need to go to university, you've even lost your job, how can you be outstanding?" My cousin's wife grinned, her bitter smile looking more like a grimace.

"Sister-in-law, that's not how it works..."

Bang! The ward door was kicked open, and my cousin stumbled in.

"What happened?" My cousin's wife had already been frightened too much; she was like a furry rabbit and couldn't take any more frights.

"Did you hear anything last night?" My cousin asked in a somber tone.

"Xiaolong has an exam, and I've been very worried. I haven't slept well, and I haven't heard anything unusual." My cousin-in-law shook her head and then asked, "What's wrong?"

"I think I heard someone open and close the door, but I didn't pay attention," Qin Xiaoyu said after thinking hard.

"This is the brake cable on Xiaolong's bicycle. See how it's broken here? It didn't break all at once; someone twisted it until only a small part remained connected. It would break after a few uses, which is why his bicycle went out of control when going downhill..."

Hearing her cousin say this, Qin Xiaoyu understood everything. Her cousin also understood everything from her eyes, and turned to run outside.

"Sister-in-law, keep an eye on Xiaolong. I'm going back with my brother. Make sure nothing happens to him." Qin Xiaoyu chased after him.

Her cousin rode his bicycle as soon as he left the house. Qin Xiaoyu had walked there and didn't have a bicycle. Just as she was getting anxious, she saw a car stop and Tang Wenwen got off. She had come to see Tang Long.

"Quick, let's go home!" Qin Xiaoyu rushed over and shouted loudly, ignoring that Jing Tian was driving.
