Chapter 121 Pillar of Strength

"Little Fish, my heart is so heavy." The wife finally managed to say something.

"I know, that's why I'm here to give you some advice."

"Tell me the truth, how badly is Xiaolong injured?"

"His injuries weren't too serious, and his leg is almost fully recovered, but he's lost an eye."

"What a tragedy!" the wife groaned, pounding her fist on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), again and again.

"Where there's life, there's hope. If you lose one eye, you still have the other, and it won't stop you from seeing. If you can't go to university, then don't go. I'm fine without university, aren't I? Let's not be so narrow-minded. Let's broaden our horizons and we'll find that there are paths everywhere."

"It would be a lie to say I'm not sad, but with you here, I'm still relieved. You can bring Xiaolong back safely, right?" The wife held Qin Xiaoyu's hand tightly.

Qin Xiaoyu wasn't sure, but she could only nod.

Zhou Yue rushed over to find her, insisting that she go to the Zhou family home. Qin Xiaoyu hadn't seen her child for several days and missed him terribly, so she dropped what she was doing and ran over.

"Little Fish, you've lost so much weight?" Zhou Xing's mother was shocked when she saw her.

"I have no choice but to take care of the patient," Qin Xiaoyu said with a wry smile. Hanhan and her younger sister heard her commotion and ran downstairs, hugging her on either side and kissing her affectionately; the children missed her too.

"How is Brother Xiaolong?" Hanhan, though small, was already concerned about Tang Long's health.

"Brother Xiaolong is fine now, you don't need to worry."

"Little Fish, there's something I wanted to talk to you about. Every year our whole family goes to Beidaihe for recuperation, but we're leaving soon this year."

"Oh, I see. Then I'll take them back." Qin Xiaoyu suddenly realized her mistake and blushed a little, feeling ashamed of her carelessness. It was truly a case of abandoning them completely, leaving the children with no responsibility.

"No, we'll be gone for twenty days. What will we do if you take the two children away?" Zhou Xing's mother became anxious upon hearing this.

"Then?" Qin Xiaoyu was also a little confused.

"I called you here to discuss it with you. Let's bring the child along. You've been busy with some things at home, so why not let the child come with us to see the sea and broaden their horizons? What do you say?"

"It's good, but it's too much trouble for you all," Qin Xiaoyu murmured.

"It's no trouble at all, I'm just glad you agreed. I was afraid you wouldn't agree!" Zhou Xing's mother was overjoyed to hear that Qin Xiaoyu had given in.

"Hanhan, take good care of your little sister when we get to the beach." Qin Xiaoyu was worried about safety again.

"I'm telling you, sigh. If my mom hears you say that, she'll scold you again. With two guards watching one child, it's unlikely there will be any problems. Don't worry about it," Zhou Yue nudged Qin Xiaoyu and complained.

"Aren't you going?" Qin Xiaoyu asked, seeing that Zhou Yue seemed perfectly fine and didn't appear to be heading out.

“My husband is coming back from his vacation, so I can’t go,” Zhou Yue said with a mournful face.

"Oh, your brother-in-law is coming back? That's great! You two separated so soon after your marriage, you should stay home and keep him company. No, you have to come with me first, I need to get your hair done properly. I'll go shopping with you for some clothes tomorrow..."

Qin Xiaoyu got to work. Zhou Yue watched her bustling around, smiled knowingly, and came over to hug her neck, saying, "Xiaoyu, it's so good to have you."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Qin Xiaoyu thought to herself, "It's so good to have you."

The truth will eventually come out. No one knows how Tang Long knew about the blindness. Maybe he overheard his family talking in private, or maybe a nurse mentioned it casually. In any case, he went mad.

When Qin Xiaoyu arrived at the hospital, the ward was a mess. Her cousin's wife was slumped on the floor, her eyes glazed over. Her cousin was sprawled on Tang Long like a bear, his shirt soaked with sweat.

Tang Long no longer had the strength to struggle; his father was holding him down. Blood seeped from the gauze wrapped around his face.

At this moment, the doctor and nurses arrived and quickly restrained Tang Long, then reopened the wound and re-bandaged it.

"The condition of your leg is not good. Let's take an X-ray. If it's dislocated, we'll have to break it and reconnect it," the attending physician said with difficulty.

"Listen to the doctor," was all Qin Xiaoyu could say.

She knew this was just the beginning. Over the next few days, Tang Long began a hunger strike, and nothing anyone said could stop him. They had no choice but to bind his hands and legs and keep him alive with glucose.

Qin Xiaoyu was at her wit's end and could only take turns with her cousin and his wife to stay in the ward, ensuring that at least one of the three of them was always there. After three days of this, they were completely exhausted.

There was something going on at school that day, so Qin Xiaoyu came back to take care of it. She was already sleep-deprived, and she felt unsteady on her feet.

"Little Fish, why don't you go upstairs and get some sleep?" Master Wang said with concern.

"Don't worry, Master, I won't fall over."

"How about I take your place?"

"No need, Master. Just keeping an eye on things here is already a huge help to me."

"Qin Xiaoyu!" A voice called from outside the building.

It's Zhou Xing!

Tears welled up in Qin Xiaoyu's eyes, and she ran towards the door.

Zhou Xing, looking travel-worn, appeared; it really was him.

"What are you yelling about!" Qin Xiaoyu finally managed to pull back from the brink at the door. The two stared at each other, their eyes blazing, their breathing quickening.

"Give me a haircut," Zhou Xing said, striding up to the second floor.

Qin Xiaoyu obediently followed behind him.

The VIP room was empty, perfect. Zhou Xing casually sat down on the recliner and stretched out his long legs.

Did you miss me?

Why do I miss you?

"You really don't want to?"

"In no mood."

Seeing that Qin Xiaoyu was being stubborn, Zhou Xing reached out and put his arm around her waist.
