After sleeping at the Zhou family's house, Qin Xiaoyu had the idea of buying an electric fan.
It's not just her who needs it; Madam and Grandma Hanhan are getting old and need it too, as is Tang Long, who is already in a bad mood and will have a hard time getting through this summer.
In addition, although the windows in the students' dormitories and classrooms are open, the ventilation is generally poor.
Those customers getting their hair permed wore electric heating caps on their heads, sweating like they were in a sauna. Getting their hair done was a real test of willpower; it would be unreasonable not to install a ceiling fan.
Qin Xiaoyu took some time to go to the department store, only to find that there was no appliance section at all. After some analysis, she went to the hardware counter and finally saw a ceiling fan and a table fan, but there was no sign of the floor fan like the one the Zhou family had.
"Do you have a ticket?" The salesperson asked without even glancing at Qin Xiaoyu, who wanted to buy an electric fan.
Qin Xiaoyu's heart sank. She had just thought the price of 16.8 yuan was acceptable, but getting a ticket would be difficult.
She had also heard that various tickets could be resold from private individuals, but the price was uncertain. She wasn't planning to buy one or two machines; if she needed to buy tickets for all of them, the cost would likely increase significantly.
Qin Xiaoyu bought some stationery and came out of the department store, only to find Qi Si's car parked on the side of the road.
There are very few private cars now, so Qi Si's car is quite eye-catching.
She went over to check, but there was no one in the car. It seemed Qi Si had come to buy things. Since he didn't have a cell phone and couldn't be contacted, and she didn't want to wait in the scorching sun, she turned to leave.
"Hey girl!" Qi Si, with his sharp eyes, spotted her as soon as he came out of the building and shouted.
"Have some soda." Qi Si handed over a small green bottle.
This is real soda, with tiny bubbles, and one sip cools you right to the core.
"Buy stationery for Hanhan?" Qi Si looked at the things in her hand.
"No, I came to buy an electric fan, but I don't have a coupon," Qin Xiaoyu complained, pouting.
"Hey girl, do you think your brother is useless? You just want a fan ticket, right? Let's go." Qi Si opened the car door.
This time they went directly to the police station. Although Qin Xiaoyu was a law-abiding citizen, she felt guilty standing next to Qi Si, as if she were an accomplice.
"Brother, what are you doing here?"
"Come on, just go already." Qi Si couldn't help but laugh at her hesitant manner, so he reached out and pulled her inside.
The guard peeked out from inside the gatehouse, but didn't even ask a question.
"Brother, aren't you scared to come here?" Qin Xiaoyu asked softly.
"What am I afraid of? Are you stupid, girl?" Qi Si was already starting to worry about Qin Xiaoyu's intelligence.
"Okay, I'm stupid." Qin Xiaoyu sighed. There were many things she didn't understand: how could a gang leader be more righteous than her, an innocent person, when he was in jail?
Reaching the door of an office, Qi Si raised his hand and knocked twice heavily. Without waiting for a reply, he opened the door and barged inside.
"Old Bai."
"Oh, Fourth Brother, what brings you here?"
"I...you!" Qi Si turned around, but Qin Xiaoyu was hiding behind him, so he had to pull her out and push her forward, saying to Section Chief Bai, "I'm doing something for my sister."
"Sit down, Principal Qin, the famous Principal Qin. Let me tell you, you owe me a V card. I've heard that many people have one. Given my relationship with your brother, won't you get me one?" Section Chief Bai said, gesturing for a seat.
Qi Si slammed the sofa down without any politeness. Seeing that Qin Xiaoyu was still standing, he stretched out his hand and pulled her to sit down next to him.
"I'll get it done right away," Qin Xiaoyu nodded repeatedly after recovering.
"What business do you have to do! Let's get down to business first!" Qi Si frowned.
"Your sister's business is my business, isn't it? What's so difficult about it?" Section Chief Bai rolled his eyes at Qi Si.
"Well, I'm planning to buy two fans." Qin Xiaoyu didn't understand what Section Chief Bai had to do with fans, but there must be a reason why Qi Si brought her here. She just didn't dare to ask for too much, so she reduced the quantity and decided to deal with her wife and Tang Long first.
"Are two enough?" Section Chief Bai asked as he walked to his desk, writing a note as he went.
"How about adding two more?" Qin Xiaoyu asked tentatively, her big eyes darting around.
"Girl, stop going for zero, how much do you want?"
"How much should we ask for?" Qin Xiaoyu was at a loss.
"Twenty, approve them. If you don't need them, just leave them." Qi Si couldn't help but speak up when he saw Qin Xiaoyu was being too slow.
"Twenty?" Qin Xiaoyu was startled.
"Just approve it. If you don't have enough money, I'll buy it for you." Qi Si became even more impatient.
"Brother, I have money! I never thought I'd have so much! Great, I want it all! Thank you, Section Chief Bai!" Qin Xiaoyu was overjoyed. She knew that with the new school opening, the electric fans would be needed sooner or later, so this would be a one-time solution.
"Section Chief Bai, I'll bring the card over later." Qin Xiaoyu added as she left, knowing that making a card in front of Section Chief Bai would seem too unrefined.
"Just call him Brother Bai, don't be shy with him," Qi Si instructed again.
"Brother Bai."
"Alright! You're my little sister too!" Section Chief Bai said with a beaming smile.
After leaving the police station building, Qin Xiaoyu looked at the electric fan ticket in her hand, still a little dazed.
Even more bewildered was the saleswoman at the department store. She stared at the quantities on the shelf, opened her mouth for a long time, and finally stammered, "Insufficient stock. Could you wait a couple of days? I'll report it to them and get you some more."
Well, now everyone's using the "you" (您) style.
"No problem, how much do you have now?" Qin Xiaoyu was very generous.
"We have two ceiling fans and two table fans," the salesperson said enthusiastically.
"Then give them all to me, pack them up."
Qin Xiaoyu spoke with a strong sense of pride, as if she were pointing at a luxury extended Bugatti at a 4S store and saying, "I want it."
When the sales clerk threw her and the four cardboard boxes at the department store entrance, she realized she had made a huge mistake. She had only thought about the consequences when she picked up the goods, instead of considering her vanity.
There were no taxis, and she didn't even have a bicycle. How was she going to get those four cardboard boxes back?
"I knew you'd do this." Qi Si walked over with two of his younger brothers, picked up the box, and headed towards the car.
"Brother, you've been waiting for me all this time?" Qin Xiaoyu never expected that this rough-around-the-edges guy would be so thoughtful.
"I don't know what to say about you. If you say you're stupid, you're smarter than anyone else. If you say you're smart, you always do something silly that makes people worry. I knew you would come here by yourself, buy as many as you can, and then not know how to get them home."
As Qi Si scolded her, Qin Xiaoyu pursed her lips and smiled secretly, feeling sweet inside. Having a brother's child is a treasure.
Qi Si took Qin Xiaoyu and Fan Fan back to the Tang family, where they were surrounded by onlookers once again.
"Xiaoyu, why are you spending this money again?" Grandma Hanhan was always worried about Qin Xiaoyu spending money.
"Mom, put this in Madam's room. If you get too hot, you can sleep with Madam," Qin Xiaoyu quietly suggested.
