"Master, how many jobs can you get in a day?" Qin Xiaoyu asked with a smile.
The two tricycle drivers stood up. They were regulars and knew that Qin Xiaoyu was the big boss of Hengchang, the famous Widow Tang. Although she looked like a frail little woman, they still respected her.
"Not much. On a good day, I can make two or three yuan, just enough to make a living," the tricycle driver said modestly.
Qin Xiaoyu knew that if she could earn three yuan a month, it wouldn't be as simple as just making a living; she would earn more than working in a government office.
"That's quite a lot," Qin Xiaoyu exclaimed.
“Don’t listen to him bragging. The weather is unpredictable. If it rains continuously, he won’t make much money,” another driver said honestly.
Qin Xiaoyu smiled again; this was the starting point.
"What if I could multiply your income several times over? And with a stable income, guaranteeing you money every day."
"That's great! Boss Qin, please show me a way to make a living!" One of the workers was quick-witted; he put out his cigarette and stood up straight.
"Look, I'm short-handed, and I can't hire more people right now. You're all idle anyway, so why don't you do some odd jobs? From now on, when my people go out to pick up goods, you can go with a few of the trucks. You'll be paid by the box for unloading, and the truck fare will be calculated separately. When you bring the goods back to the warehouse, you'll also help unload them, and you'll be paid by the piece as well. How about that?"
"That's great!" The two tricycle drivers beamed with joy.
"Master, I'm short-handed. Just call your brothers over, don't worry about having too many! I'll have someone discuss the price with you later, I guarantee you won't lose out. When to bring in and move goods is up to us, not God's will. I guarantee you'll make money no matter the weather." Qin Xiaoyu turned to call her cousin, men are easy to talk to.
"Boss Qin, you deserve to be rich! You're a good person! And quick-witted!" The chef had a sweet tongue, which made Qin Xiaoyu smile. The two men chuckled and were speechless.
Upon hearing Qin Xiaoyu's idea, her cousin was so happy that he covered his waist and got off the bus.
"Little Fish, what's your head made of? Let me see," my cousin-in-law said with a laugh.
"Didn't you already see it? It's made of steel bars, it's very sturdy." Qin Xiaoyu was also full of emotion.
"Oh right, Xiaoyu, I just remembered that. Come here." Her cousin-in-law pulled Qin Xiaoyu to the north window on the second floor and pointed outside. "Look at that building, isn't it being built very quickly?"
Qin Xiaoyu followed her cousin's hand and saw that there was a building that had been built faster than the others, and its facade was grand, making it look more like a commercial building than a residential building.
"This was invested in by Mayor Zuo's wife; I heard they're going to build a big shopping mall."
"Mayor Zuo's wife?" Qin Xiaoyu was a little confused.
Her cousin-in-law gave her a reproachful look, and Qin Xiaoyu suddenly realized, Zuo Xiangyang's wife? Isn't that Bai Weiwei?
Could it be that she saw she was making money and wanted to get involved too?
"Sister-in-law, don't worry. The more shops that open in the commercial district, the more prosperous it will be. We'll only really start making money when all the major commercial outlets in the city open here," Qin Xiaoyu comforted her.
But what she was thinking about was something else entirely. Bai Weiwei's opening had a significant impact on her. Needless to say, Bai Weiwei's wholesale prices were definitely lower, and being a new store with an attractive location, it was bound to draw away some customers.
She needs to plan ahead. But then again, this Zuo Xiangyang is really capable; he even managed to snag the mayor's position.
Qin Xiaoyu felt a sense of relief whenever she stepped into Riyue Clothing Store. It felt closer to the 21st century. But who was this woman in the black trench coat standing before her?
Bai Weiwei was arrogantly asking someone to bring her clothes to try on. The sales clerk had been making a fuss over her for ages and didn't dare to say anything. When she saw Qin Xiaoyu come in, she glanced at her timidly.
"What makes you interested in coming to my shop?" Qin Xiaoyu smiled faintly; she was here to act as a spy.
"Your shop is the trendsetter of this city. If I don't have a few pieces of clothing from Sun Moon Clothing, wouldn't I be laughed at?" Bai Weiwei said sarcastically.
Judging from her figure, Qin Xiaoyu guessed that she had just given birth not long ago, and her due date should be around the same time as Xiao Zichen and the others.
Bai Weiwei recovered her figure quickly; from behind, she looked almost exactly like she did when she was a young girl. Only her face lacked its former innocence, which was probably impossible to fake anymore—once the facade was torn, it couldn't be put back on.
"I'm going to get something to eat. Wrap these two up for me." Bai Weiwei finally let the sales clerk go and walked into Liunian Xiaozhu.
Qin Xiaoyu followed them inside; she was also a little hungry.
Upon seeing her come in, Ding Xiaoru immediately brought over a Black Forest cake, Qin Xiaoyu's favorite.
"Same as hers," Bai Weiwei instructed. Ding Xiaoru couldn't tell what the relationship was between the two, so she could only serve them the same kind.
"Zhou Xing has only been gone a short time, and you're already eating and drinking without a care in the world. You really have no conscience." Bai Weiwei's words were sarcastic at first, but as she spoke, her eyes suddenly reddened, and she turned her face away.
Qin Xiaoyu smiled faintly, thinking that she didn't want to argue about anything today, considering Bai Weiwei's deep affection for Zhou Xing.
"I just don't think this is worth it. I feel sorry for Zhou Xing. You should eat and drink well, eat more, what if you don't have another chance?" Seeing her unmoved look, Bai Weiwei angrily stabbed the cake into the plate, breaking it into pieces, and then got up and walked out.
Qin Xiaoyu didn't even look up, sipping her cake one bite at a time, completely oblivious to what was happening around her.
"Xiaoyu, thank goodness you didn't leave! Quick! Qi Si is looking for you!" Her cousin-in-law rushed in, and Qin Xiaoyu quickly got up to answer the phone.
The two children developed rashes and were taken to the hospital.
By the time Qin Xiaoyu arrived at the military hospital, they had already completed the admission procedures. Qi Si was sweating profusely and paced anxiously.
"Take a look, I don't understand, what kind of nonsense is this!" Qi Si shoved a pile of documents into Qin Xiaoyu's arms.
Qin Xiaoyu knew nothing about pediatric illnesses, and she had never taken care of children before her rebirth. Her only experience was treating her younger sister and Hanhan's colds.
The doctor's handwriting was so flamboyant that he clearly didn't intend for anyone to understand it.
"Where is the child?" Qin Xiaoyu wanted to check the situation first before deciding.
Needless to say, Qi Si arranged for a superior room. The two children were placed in two cribs, and Xiao Si's wife and her mother each took care of one of them. They were so anxious that they wiped away tears.
"Little Fish Sister, come here quickly, you know so much!" Fourth Sister-in-law hurriedly pulled Qin Xiaoyu over as soon as she saw her.
The child's face and body were covered with red spots, a shocking sight. He also had a high fever, and even his breathing was hot.
"I'm going to find Brother Deng, you guys wait here." Qin Xiaoyu got up and walked out.
"It's pityriasis rosea. It looks scary, but it's not that serious. It's caused by a virus, and you get lifelong immunity after one infection. It's just that you can't use Western medicine, as it will prolong the course of the disease," Deng Jianyan explained to Qin Xiaoyu as they walked towards the ward.
