“I want to stay and become an announcer, so I can be with Wang Lei every single day. If I go to university and don’t see him more than a few times a year, I really can’t stand it, I’ll go crazy.”
Tang Fengqin's confession left Qin Xiaoyu with only a bitter smile. What could she say to this silly girl, so easily swayed by love? She could only offer her blessings.
"Then I won't go to university."
“But my family, my dad and my brother, all dream of going to university. It would be too cruel for them to give up the opportunity after I received the acceptance letter. I can’t bear it.”
Qin Xiaoyu never expected that Tang Fengqin was worried about this kind-hearted child.
"Fengqin, whatever you do, they will support you. Your happiness is the most important thing. Go back and tell them that you are going to report to the cultural troupe." Qin Xiaoyu was worried and took Tang Fengqin home.
My cousin's wife got up and couldn't find her daughter. She was searching frantically when she saw them all come back together and she was relieved.
"Here's what I think: Fengqin and Xiaolei have a great relationship, it's really hot right now, let's not break them up. What if things change because of this, and then we'll all regret it?" Qin Xiaoyu decided to take the blame.
"I'll listen to you. Everything you say makes sense." My cousin-in-law wasn't being sarcastic; she genuinely admired Qin Xiaoyu.
Now, if Qin Xiaoyu says the sun is square, she will also say, "Yes, exactly square."
From Commander Wang's perspective, what she really wanted was for Tang Fengqin to join the performing arts troupe. With her right under her nose, she felt completely at ease, so she was happiest about this outcome.
September arrived in the blink of an eye, and the children all went back to school, making the house much quieter. Commander Zhou became obsessed with fishing, and whenever he had free time, he would have Xiao Chen drive him to the coal mine to fish with Hanhan's grandfather.
Zhou Xing's mother was bored, so she chatted with Hanhan's grandmother and strolled around the market. Finally, she descended to earth and came down to the mortal realm.
Although Qin Xiaoyu still runs around all day, she is young and healthy. After a good night's sleep, she is full of energy and goes to the garment factory early.
As soon as she got to the second floor, she heard a loud commotion coming from Xie Lanhua's office. The junior accountant was eavesdropping at the door. When she saw Qin Xiaoyu coming over, she stuck out her tongue and ran over.
Qin Xiaoyu pushed open the door and went inside; only Chen Lian and Xie Lanhua were there.
"Sister Xie, Sister Lian, what's wrong?"
"Xiaoyu, we can't keep this person. I've never seen anyone like her before. She's not even human!" Xie Lanhua was trembling with anger. She picked up the folder on the table and was about to throw it at Sister Lian when Qin Xiaoyu snatched it away and pushed her into a chair.
"What exactly happened? Can you tell me?" Qin Xiaoyu asked anxiously.
"I only sold a few cardboard boxes, is it really that big of a deal? They're useless things. I sold them to get some money. My family is poor, please understand." Chen Lian said nonchalantly, sitting on the table with one leg and picking at her nails in the sunlight.
"Get down here! Who do you think you are? This is my office!" Xie Lanhua tried to stand up again, but Qin Xiaoyu pressed her down.
"Sister Lian, you should also be careful. Director Xie says the same thing as me." Qin Xiaoyu decided to put Chen Lian down.
"Xiaoyu, if it were just a few broken cardboard boxes, would I be this angry? Do you know what she's selling? It's fabric! Last time, a few bolts of fabric in the shipment had a problem and needed to be returned to the factory. And she just sold them as scrap! Isn't that a disaster?! Can empty boxes weigh the same as boxes full of fabric? Are you kidding me?" Xie Lanhua began her accusations, her hands trembling. Qin Xiaoyu's face darkened upon hearing this. If it was true, this was truly outrageous.
"There's nothing I can do. My salary is low, so I earn some extra money. If you insist on accusing me, I don't care." Chen Lian's shrewish manner was really infuriating.
"Sister Lian, let's not beat around the bush. I don't believe you can sell a box full of cloth as empty." Qin Xiaoyu stared at Chen Lian, her tone becoming firm.
"I found out, and the fabric has been recovered. The scrap collector said that she was the one who sent people to collect it, and that there was fabric inside, so she asked for extra money!" Director Fei barged in and threw some receipts on the table.
"Sister Lian, you've gone too far! I promised you'd come and help me, what have you done? If you need money, just tell me!" Qin Xiaoyu trembled with anger.
"Now that we've got this on, let me get to the point. You're such a petty person. We agreed that if I saved your life, you'd beg me for the rest of your life, and look at the mess you've made!" Sister Lian jumped off the table, pointing at Qin Xiaoyu's nose as she began to berate her.
"What's wrong with me? I'll offer you a job!"
"Pah! If I wanted a job, would I need you? I earn more by reselling grain coupons. I need money! What you've given me isn't enough at all. I only hurt you because I think highly of you. If you push me too far, I'll burn the factory down for you. Let's see if I can do that!" Chen Lian was already a head taller than Qin Xiaoyu, and she pressed closer and closer.
Fearing that Qin Xiaoyu would be at a disadvantage if things got physical, Director Fei grabbed her and shielded her behind him before rushing forward.
"No wonder you went to jail. You're lazy and good-for-nothing. You stole things and you still think you're right?" Director Fei went straight to the heart of Chen Lian's problem.
"Now you're complaining because I've been to prison? I knew what you were thinking, pretending all the time! Still calling me Sister Lian, you've never respected me at all. I'm telling you now, I'm not putting up with this anymore, I'm leaving!" Chen Lian shoved Director Fei hard and strode towards the door.
"Get out of here! Our factory won't keep you!" Xie Lanhua shouted behind her.
"If you don't want me here, there are plenty of other places that will. Just you wait and see." Chen Lian sneered, slammed the door, and walked out.
"You've been really kind to that ungrateful thing," Director Fei spat.
"Aunt Xie, don't be angry. I misjudged her. I thought someone like her would be loyal, but it turns out her values are warped." Qin Xiaoyu sighed.
"She's used to getting something for nothing. Let her continue going in and out of prison. No one can save her for the rest of her life." Director Fei walked to the table and vigorously wiped it, especially the area where Chen Lian had sat, wiping it over and over again, as if he thought it was dirty.
The junior accountant knocked on the door and came in, handing Xie Lanhua a form and asking, "Wang Fen has passed away. Her salary for this month has been sent to her home. Now it's time to calculate the quarterly bonus. Should we give it to her as well?"
"Here, give me the remaining two months' worth as well." Xie Lanhua knew the relationship between Qin Xiaoyu and Sister-in-law Deng, so she did her a favor.
Qin Xiaoyu had been sitting at the table in a daze until now it dawned on her that Sister-in-law Deng's name was Wang Fen.
"Let me see it." Qin Xiaoyu beckoned, and the accountant quickly took it.
Qin Xiaoyu looked through the attendance records and found that Sister-in-law Deng had only worked for less than half a month. She was either leaving early or late, and in the end, she left on her own without asking for leave.
"Don't issue the bonus, deduct it. Although she's gone, some rules must be followed. Her departure was a private matter without the company's approval, and we can't let it go unpunished."
