Qin Xiaoyu's eyes widened; had she gotten herself on a sinking ship?
"You were following me?" Qin Xiaoyu asked angrily.
"No, I was just bored and wanted to hang out with you."
"I don't have time to play with you, you can leave now." Although Qin Xiaoyu was angry, her stomach was being uncooperative, growling louder and louder.
"I'm leaving? You want me to jump out of the car? Fine." A Lei stood up, rolled up the window, and said, "The night car is going fast, and we're trying to make up for lost time."
The night wind, carrying a chill, rushed in, and he bent down to try and squeeze out.
"What are you doing!" Qin Xiaoyu was so frightened that she grabbed his clothes, and then, fearing it might not be safe, she hugged his waist tightly from behind.
"I just wanted some fresh air, what's wrong with that?" A Lei turned around, looking completely innocent.
Qin Xiaoyu then realized she had been tricked. She angrily let go of her hand, picked up a shrimp dumpling in a huff, and stuffed it into her mouth.
“There’s a fork here, and you haven’t even washed your hands, they’re too dirty.” As he spoke, A Lei picked up a handkerchief, pulled Qin Xiaoyu’s hand over, and wiped it.
"Don't touch me."
"You've gained weight."
"I didn't!" Qin Xiaoyu felt a bit overwhelmed. Could everyone be so sensitive? Was Erjin's reaction really that obvious?
"Women look better when they're a little plump. You were too thin before, it's not comfortable to touch you," A Lei said nonchalantly.
"Stop talking nonsense!"
“I really touched you, and I even hugged you! Look, you just hugged me…” A hundred words were waiting for her, each one piercing her heart.
"You..." Qin Xiaoyu blinked, a little scared. Was she about to be bullied?
"Don't cry, I'm scared of this. Eat it, eat it." A Lei was startled by her appearance and quickly pushed the box over.
Qin Xiaoyu didn't want to cry; she was starving.
Since she was already there, she figured she might as well make the best of it. At least she needed to be well-fed to have the strength to fight. She devoured everything on the table, leaving nothing for Are.
She comforted herself, telling herself that she should just treat him like he wasn't there.
"You're not going to sleep right after you've eaten, are you?" A Lei had been silently watching Qin Xiaoyu come and go. After washing her face and brushing her teeth, she obediently lay down on the bed, pulled the blanket up to her chin, and closed her eyes. He finally couldn't hold back any longer.
"Why can't I sleep?" Qin Xiaoyu asked in surprise.
"Eating and then sleeping is bad for your health, no wonder you're overweight. You need to exercise." When A Lei mentioned the word "exercise," a meaningful smirk appeared on his lips.
Damn it! Qin Xiaoyu cursed inwardly, constantly reminding herself, "I'm not an experienced driver, I don't know anything! I'm an innocent young widow from the 1980s."
"Can you mind your own business?" Qin Xiaoyu believed that this was a public place, and he should still restrain himself.
“I don’t meddle in other people’s business, and I’m afraid this trip will cause you a lot of trouble,” A Lei said confidently.
"Why?"
How did you buy the ticket?
A Lei's question left Qin Xiaoyu speechless.
She got the ticket by bribing the train conductor because she didn't have a letter of introduction. When she left home, her plan was only to go to the provincial capital. With Manager Chen accompanying her and people from the department store making arrangements, she didn't need those other things.
But she couldn't buy a train ticket to the south, especially a soft sleeper ticket, which was in limited supply.
She had to pay an extra hundred yuan to get the ticket.
"You don't even have a letter of introduction when you get to Shanghai. Where do you think you'll stay? Even if the weather in Shanghai isn't too cold right now, it's still inconvenient for you to sleep on the Bund. Or do you think that in such a big station like Shanghai, someone will take your tip and sell you a ticket? You might as well wait to get arrested again and sent back to your hometown." A Lei smiled sarcastically.
"I don't believe all hotels require a letter of introduction." Qin Xiaoyu said this without much confidence, which seemed to be a fatal mistake.
"Then give it a try. By the way, you really need to exercise, you're not going to weigh 100 pounds, are you?" A Lei said with ill intent.
"No! 88 jin!" Qin Xiaoyu regretted it as soon as she said it. Was it even worth telling him?
She turned over in a huff, facing inwards, refusing to look at his smug face.
“Little Fish.” A Lei teleported to her bedside and leaned down to look at her.
"If you dare to move, I'll scream and ruin your reputation!" Qin Xiaoyu threatened, gripping the blanket tightly.
"You overestimate me. What reputation do I have?" A Lei chuckled.
"You're shameless." Qin Xiaoyu was speechless.
"I wouldn't call it that. When it comes to dating, if it's right, you stay together; if it's not, you break up. I think it's even more shameful to be unable to face your own feelings and to put on a show for others in a marriage, isn't it? Like Bai Weiwei and Zuo Xiangyang."
Qin Xiaoyu was speechless. These values were clearly skewed, yet somehow they made some sense.
"You're using a fallacy to mislead us." Qin Xiaoyu thought of a counterattack.
"To be honest, you're different from those girls. My profile says you haven't received much education, but your manner of speaking is definitely not that of an ignorant girl. Tell me, is this your ultimate secret?"
"yes."
"Then tell me, anyway, the night is long and I can't sleep."
"Oh my god!" Qin Xiaoyu sat up in alarm, and the two of them bumped heads together, both wincing in pain and taking a step back.
"You, you, you also came from another time, right?"
"What time travel? What nonsense are you talking about?" A Lei rubbed his forehead and said angrily, "Being with a woman like you is too dangerous."
"Then hurry up and find a safe place."
"But I like it. Playing games should be exciting, right?" A Lei said with an innocent look on his face. Qin Xiaoyu realized that she had been teased again.
"You're not leaving, huh? Then I'll tell you my secret, and scare you to death!" Qin Xiaoyu was going all out.
"You scared me to death!" A Lei nodded seriously.
"I was reborn, which means I'm from the 21st century. You know the 21st century, right? In my previous life, I fell from a building. Don't ask how I fell, I just fell down, and then I entered this body and became the young widow Qin Xiaoyu, with two children I don't even recognize. Do you believe me?" Qin Xiaoyu's confidence waned as she spoke.
"letter."
"You really believe it?"
"letter."
"I don't even believe it myself!"
"Then tell me something you believe in."
"You are really annoying."
"I believe that too."
Qin Xiaoyu let out a cry, forcefully pulled the blanket over her head, and remained motionless.
After a short while, she felt suffocated and couldn't breathe, but getting up like that would be too embarrassing.
"Get up, you'll suffocate in a bit." A Lei gave her a way out, forcefully pulling the corner of the blanket, causing her to fall to the ground along with the blanket.
A Lei was taken aback, probably not expecting her to be so light. He bent down to hug her, but Qin Xiaoyu shrank back, widening her eyes and saying, "Don't touch me, I'll scream."
“It’s no use yelling. Do you believe I’ll buy all the tickets for the carriages in front and behind?” A Lei sneered.
