"Okay, I'll tell you. Then tell me." Qi Si said readily.
It turned out that on that day, A Lei had already made a deal with Qin Xiaoyu.
Qi Si already knew that A Lei was incredibly powerful and capable of anything. He just didn't know what A Lei really thought of Qin Xiaoyu. This guy didn't seem as naive as Zhou Xing, and he was afraid his silly sister would suffer.
"To be honest, at first I thought it was just a fling. There are plenty of women in the world, you can't be hung up on just one. But after a few times, I realized this isn't so simple. It's a game you can't stop playing. I don't know if I could stand seeing her in someone else's arms one day. Instead of fighting over her, I might as well just marry her and take her home to play with at my leisure." A Lei said casually, unaware that Qi Si's mind was already racing with thoughts of a thousand alpacas.
"What you're saying is ridiculous. If this were the old days, you'd be crawling on the ground looking for your teeth right now." Qi Si squinted.
"Relax, we're here to have an open and honest talk. It's a good thing that I can tell you what's on my mind. Do you really want to hear me say I love her, love her to death? You think you can believe that?"
"I don't believe it," Qi Si replied firmly.
"That's right, even you don't believe me, and neither do I. I can't even guarantee that I'll never leave her for the rest of my life..."
"Then you should stay away from her. If she gets hurt, I'll kill you, no matter if you're the King of Heaven or the Crown Prince." Qi Si sneered.
"I'm telling you, you're such a hothead," A Lei sighed, giving Qi Si a hard shove on the head.
"What's the meaning?"
“I can tell you like Xiaoyu, and it’s been going on for a while now. These days, there’s no such thing as a pure brother and sister. Only that silly girl would believe that. If she were willing to accept you, why would you marry such a woman?” A Lei’s words left Qi Si speechless.
"But I'm different. I'm capable. I can take care of her, I can give her the best. So why not give it a try? She's in the prime of her youth, the perfect age. Why worry about whether it will last? If you really care about her, do you want to watch her worry about these people and waste her best years on her career? Wait until she's in her forties or fifties to realize she's lonely and hastily marry an old man?" As expected of a lawyer, A Lei's words really got Qi Si talking.
"But what if you leave her in the future? She will be hurt."
“Not to brag, but I have one good point: although I’ve had many relationships, I never drag things out. When I’m with someone, I settle all past grievances and give my all to that person. If the feelings are gone, I leave cleanly, as a sign of respect for the relationship. I think Qin Xiaoyu is most suitable for me right now; she needs a bit more passion in her life. As for the hurt, love inevitably causes hurt; it’s only a matter of time. Maybe I can even help her heal the wounds Zhou Xing left behind. Why not?” A Lei’s theories were always a bit quirky, and even Qin Xiaoyu couldn’t resist them, let alone Qi Si, who could only nod in agreement at this point.
"Brother, you didn't beat him up when he said those things? He must be brainwashing you, right?" Qin Xiaoyu poked Qi Si's forehead with her little nose, poking it again and again.
"I don't know what happened either. When he said it, I just thought, 'That's right, that's good,' that's what I thought. But when I think about it again, something's not right," Qi Si said, scratching his head.
"Sigh, brother, don't worry. This guy is a master, and we're no match for him," Qin Xiaoyu said with a wry smile.
"I've finished explaining. Now tell me, what did he say to you last night?"
"He..." Qin Xiaoyu suddenly remembered what he said last night, "If you cause trouble again, this is how I will punish you," and then she remembered that intoxicating kiss. For a moment, she blushed and couldn't say anything.
Qi Si was a sensible man; he understood immediately. He sighed, asked no more questions, and turned to leave.
"Brother..." Qin Xiaoyu felt guilty towards Qi Si, called out, but couldn't say anything more.
"Alright, girl, I get it. He's right. Don't waste your precious youth. You've been living a very stifled life, cheer up." Qi Si said, turning back to walk towards the door.
"You haven't even finished this bowl of porridge, what are you talking about? Come here!" Zhou Xing's mother was fed up and brought over another hot bowl.
"Hehe, Auntie, you have so much porridge at home, you can't send it all out?" Qi Si has always been powerless against Zhou Xing's mother, and he is especially obedient in front of her.
"Hurry up and drink, stop talking so much. And put on some clothes when you come over, you can easily catch a cold even if it's just a short walk. It's so warm inside, how can you be okay if you go out in the north wind? Look, everyone else is fine after moving in, but you caught a cold. You just weren't careful." Zhou Xing's mother sat next to Qi Si and kept nagging.
"Auntie, look, my sister calls you Mom, so I'll call you Mom too. You're even more annoying than a real mother," Qi Si said suddenly while drinking his porridge.
“Oh, is there anyone who complains about having too many children?” Zhou Xing’s mother paused for a moment, then immediately agreed, her eyes already red.
"Mom, it's settled then, I'll call you that from now on." Qi Si lowered his head even further and shoveled rice into his mouth.
"I'll get you some cucumbers." Zhou Xing's mother got up to get some side dishes, giving Qi Si a chance to wipe his face a couple of times.
"This is stir-fried with pork tenderloin and seasoned with sesame oil. It's your grandpa's favorite. I'm giving you a special treat." Zhou Xing's mother smiled and placed a small dish in front of Qi Si.
"It's so good to have Mom; she's giving me special treatment." Qi Si grinned and picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks.
"Oh, I've caught you red-handed! Using my vegetables as a favor." Commander Zhou came downstairs, in an exceptionally good mood.
“Si’er calls me Mom, so I’m happy to give him special treatment. What he calls you is none of my business; we’ll each follow our own rules.” Zhou Xing’s mother deliberately teased him.
"What should I call you! Of course you should call me 'Big Brother'! We live under the same roof, why are you forming different factions? Women are always so troublesome!" Commander Zhou was displeased as soon as he heard that.
“I call you ‘Grandpa,’ and you’re still stingy with that one bite of food?” Zhou Xing’s mother was waiting here.
"Stop stirring things up. I was just saying, what's so great about a simple pickled vegetable? It's snowing again today. Let's stir-fry a couple of vegetables for lunch, and the two of us will have a glass of wine to cool off." Commander Zhou made a gesture of pouring wine into his mouth, and Qi Si nodded happily.
"These people who drink are shameless. What did they say when they had a stomachache? They said they'd never drink again! Bah!" Zhou Xing's mother muttered as she went upstairs.
Deng Jianyan ran downstairs while buttoning her clothes.
"Where are you going, Jianyan?" Zhou Xing's mother asked hurriedly.
"Xiaoyue said she wanted to eat grapes, so I went to see if I could find any." The couple had just finished eating and went upstairs. They didn't move for a while after closing the door, but when they came out, their faces were beaming.
