Chapter 406 Sisterhood

The lady then took out a mother-of-pearl inlaid box and handed it to Qin Xiaoyu: "The things in here are all unique. Don't be fooled by their rough and clumsy appearance; each piece is an antique over a thousand years old. Keep it. They only care about the style, but you can exchange this for money."

Qin Xiaoyu suppressed a laugh. Even his wife had figured it out; she was a money-grubber.

After tidying everything up, Qin Xiaoyu noticed that his wife was tired, so he closed the cabinets and prepared to leave.

"Xiaoyu, you know, Aunt Jiang doesn't seem like an open-minded person, so why did she agree to the marriage?" the lady asked again, revealing that she had also had doubts.

"Maybe it's because he's my only nephew, and I couldn't bear to part with him, so I softened and agreed." Qin Xiaoyu found it hard to convince herself with this reason.

"I don't think so. Is this a matter of being soft-hearted? Why didn't Zhou Xing's mother be soft-hearted back then?" The lady shook her head.

"Then why do you think so?" Qin Xiaoyu pressed, though she already had an answer in her mind.

"You know, with such a large family fortune as the Jiang family, why doesn't the eldest daughter get married? Why does she stay in the old house for the rest of her life? Jiang Fusheng has been without parents since childhood. I think it's just a pretense. Jiang Fusheng and her aunt may not even be aunt and niece. I'm afraid their lineage doesn't make sense."

"Hehe, it's their business, we don't need to worry about that. Just make sure Wenwen gets married well. Look how nice they are," Qin Xiaoyu chuckled.

"Well said, I'm just waiting for the wedding. As for Jiang Fusheng, I like him. He has the air of a scion of a prominent family and is a true gentleman. But this A Lei is getting more and more unpredictable. He's like a child who never grew up. He used to be so tall and imposing, and he spoke so formally. But now, sigh!"

Just then, a burst of laughter came from outside. Commander Zhou and his group had returned, and they seemed to have had a good haul, their voices filled with laughter and chatter. Among the laughter, A Lei's call for cake was particularly noticeable.

"This cake has become his treasure." Qin Xiaoyu chuckled.

"Men who like small animals are usually good to children." After saying that, the wife turned over and went to take a nap.

Qin Xiaoyu wrapped the boxes in a cloth and took them back together, intending to deliver them one by one later. It wouldn't look good if there was any competition. The pile of things was quite heavy; her little wrists almost broke under the weight.

Auntie was already awake and sitting in the living room talking to Zhou Xing's mother. Qin Xiaoyu greeted her and went upstairs.

When she came out with the jewelry for Tang Wenwen, she saw that A Lei had just returned with the cake. Both of them were covered in snow, and A Lei's long eyelashes were frozen by the frost.

"Baby wants to eat fish." A Lei said to the cake, but for some reason, he winked at Qin Xiaoyu.

Oh no, this feels like I'm in love.

Qin Xiaoyu's footing was a bit unsteady, and she almost slipped and fell. Looking back, that heartless man had already walked far away with his little lover.

Tang Wenwen and Jiang Fusheng were locked in the room again, doing something unknown. When Qin Xiaoyu knocked on the door, both of them were blushing.

"My wife asked me to deliver this. You can keep it." Qin Xiaoyu didn't want to be disliked, so she turned to leave.

"Sister-in-law, come in, I have something to say." Tang Wenwen shooed Jiang Fusheng, who looked very unwilling, out.

“Fusheng and my aunt are taking turns bombarding me, trying to stop me from going to Shanghai. You need to quickly prepare someone to choose from,” Tang Wenwen said with difficulty.

"Okay, don't worry. I've already made preparations. Even if you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have let you stay there for too long. It's better to stay close to home," Qin Xiaoyu said with a smile.

"Sister-in-law, you're so insightful! You knew I was getting married all along?" Tang Wenwen looked at her in disbelief.

"No, I'm just worried that things might change if you're apart for too long, so it's better for you to come back."

"What changes? Look at what you're saying. If he's so capable, he can go find someone else." Tang Wenwen opened the jewelry box, picked up the earrings, and held them up to her ears.

"Wenwen, you have no idea how happy I am to be able to marry you off. Don't make me worry anymore, I'm tired." Qin Xiaoyu put her head on her shoulder and said with a face full of resentment.

"Sister-in-law, I love you," Tang Wenwen said earnestly.

Qin Xiaoyu couldn't hold back and burst out laughing.

“My aunt said that after the wedding, she will take Xiao Zichen away, and she will raise him first,” Tang Wenwen said hesitantly.

"That won't do!" Qin Xiaoyu refused decisively.

"Why? We gave him to Fourth Brother to raise because we couldn't recognize him back then. Now that we can raise him, we naturally want to take him with us. He'll be closer to me before he has any memories." Jiang Fusheng was quite affectionate towards Xiao Zichen.

“How could Fourth Sister-in-law give that away? She raised that child herself; she nursed her just three days after birth. What’s the difference between her and her own child? You can’t be so heartless. You have to take it slowly and not hurt her.” Qin Xiaoyu’s words left no room for negotiation; she was determined to stand up for Fourth Sister-in-law in this matter.

"Okay, I'll do as you say. I'll talk to my aunt, and you can also talk to Fourth Sister-in-law."

Tang Wenwen lowered her head. She understood what was going on and felt more gratitude towards her fourth sister-in-law than wanting her to get hurt.

When we had dinner that evening, Xiao Si's wife still didn't come over. Although Qi Si came, he seemed downcast and preoccupied.

"Brother, are you worried?" Qin Xiaoyu noticed and took the opportunity to call Qi Si over.

"Tell me the truth, is Wenwen going to take the child away?"

"That's what Auntie meant," Qin Xiaoyu said, conflicted.

“I know it’s only right for families to be reunited, but let alone your sister-in-law, even I can’t get over it. That little bundle of joy, I’ve held and kissed him so many times, raised him in my hands, and now we’re separated so suddenly. It’s heartbreaking.”

"Brother, I understand. I will try my best to handle it well." Qin Xiaoyu was almost in tears because of Qi Si's words.

The eighth day of the lunar new year was the actual wedding day for Tang Wenwen and Jiang Fusheng. They were both easygoing and didn't want any transportation; they just wanted to hold the ceremony at Building No. 4.

The auspicious time calculated by Aunt Wang was 9:58 AM.

Qin Xiaoyu got up early and drove to the garment factory; today was the day production resumed.

Factory Director Xie was coming to the wedding, so he went straight to Qin Xiaoyu's house. Qin Xiaoyu was worried about the factory, so she drove over to check on it.

A tall girl stood in front of the office, her face expressionless and somewhat aloof; it was Qin Xiaoye.

"Director Qin, I've come to collect my file," Qin Xiaoye said, neither humble nor arrogant.

"Come in." Qin Xiaoyu opened the door and let her in.

"You know, he came to see me." As soon as Qin Xiaoyu said that, Qin Xiaoye understood immediately and blushed.

“I know, ignore him. Give me the file. I’ll return it to the Second Light Industry Bureau myself and it will be reassigned.”

"Have you heard of the saying that you can't get a good job after being reassigned?" Qin Xiaoyu asked before picking up her personnel file.

"I know, it doesn't matter." Qin Xiaoye has always had this expression since she was a child—cold and unapproachable.

Qin Xiaoye is Qin Xiaoyu's half-sister, but the two don't look alike. Qin Xiaoye is prettier and taller.

"What if I said I'd leave you here?" Qin Xiaoyu sat down in the chair.

"Why?"
