"I heard from A Lei that you run your own company?"
"Yes, madam."
"Call me Miranda. Are you in the fashion industry?"
"Yes."
"The mainland's clothing industry is simply a fashion disaster. Every time I think it's the ugliest, it always manages to push my boundaries and come up with something even uglier. You guys are challenging the limits of fashion." This comment was truly hurtful. Qin Xiaoyu approached it with a learning mindset and put in a lot of effort to digest it.
She also had to face the reality that fashion in the 1960s and 70s had aesthetic misconceptions. The 1970s was more like a break in fashion history, with everyone taking the copying of other people's clothes as beauty. Walking on the street, it looked like a huge army.
The fashion industry was just emerging in the 1980s. The sudden appearance of color from the gray, black and blue that filled the streets was already a great step forward, and we can't expect too much.
But Miranda wouldn't understand these things, and Qin Xiaoyu couldn't explain them to her. If she offered these objective reasons, Miranda would definitely take it as an excuse, so it was better to listen to her.
The door to the dining room opened, and the younger sister ran ahead, with the older sister's two sons chasing after her. The three children laughed happily.
When Zhou Xing's mother came upstairs, she said to let her younger sister and Hanhan play downstairs for a while, in case they ate too much and had food retention.
“Children! You are very rude! You barged in without knocking and then chased and hit each other. Is this how your parents taught you?” Miranda suddenly became furious and stood up to rebuke her in English.
The eldest sister's son, a mischievous boy, made a face and ran away without a care.
The young woman had never been wronged like this before. She stood there dumbfounded, saying helplessly, "I'm sorry."
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she dared not let them fall. Qin Xiaoyu knew her younger sister was not wrong, but in this situation, she could only hold back and not escalate the conflict.
Before she could adjust her mindset, A Lei suddenly stood up.
“I never forced you to do anything you didn’t like. You didn’t have to come to my engagement ceremony. But since you’re here, you have to respect my wife, and you can’t humiliate my child or take your anger out on her! She did nothing wrong!” A Lei strode over, picked up his little sister, and walked out.
Qin Xiaoyu looked at everything in front of her awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
"Look at all this!" Miranda was stunned by Are's actions. Her eyes widened in surprise, and Qin Xiaoyu caught a glimpse of helplessness and sadness in them.
But it only lasted a moment. She quickly regained her composure, shrugged, and got up to leave the main building.
"What happened?" The older sister was dragged downstairs by her son. She was still sleepy and wearing a sexy silk nightgown, so she looked like she had already fallen asleep.
"It's alright, go upstairs and rest." Qin Xiaoyu felt even more apologetic and quickly said.
“Don’t be afraid. In this family, you have to know how to fight back. Otherwise, everyone will want to trample on you. Of course, they have the ability and the means to do so. Miranda has never known who to be afraid of.” The eldest sister sighed and took her son upstairs.
It seems Miranda has gone back to the small building, so Are and Little Sister shouldn't be there.
Qin Xiaoyu wandered around for a long time before finally finding A Lei and her younger sister on a bench behind a clump of bushes.
They each held an ice cream and were enjoying it.
"Ha! I'm so worried, and you guys are hogging all the food!" Qin Xiaoyu sat down next to A Lei, fuming.
A Lei handed over the light ice cream, and Qin Xiaoyu opened her mouth wide and took a big bite, taking a large portion of it.
“Greedy woman.” Are wiped the white foam from her lips.
"Won't they meet tomorrow night either?" Qin Xiaoyu gestured towards the main building.
"We'll meet them at the banquet, about three hundred people. They'll cleverly avoid appearing in the same space." A Lei seemed to be familiar with his mother and grandmother's little tricks.
Is this their unspoken understanding?
"I guess so, unless someone wants to provoke us, that's possible. But don't hope for that to happen, it's too terrible." A Lei seemed to have thought of something and shook his head.
"Sigh." The younger sister suddenly sighed.
"What's wrong?" Are tilted his head and asked.
“Alex, you’re so pitiful, acting like a stranger to your own mother.” The little girl looked up at A-Lei, her eyes sparkling. A-Lei grinned, then fell silent.
They escorted the younger sister back to her room to sleep. The two of them tiptoed downstairs.
"Go to sleep, you'll be tired tomorrow," Qin Xiaoyu said, but her body betrayed her. She leaned against A Lei, clinging to him tightly, unwilling to let him go.
A Lei embraced her and led her to the living room.
"Sigh, I can't play games, and I can't even be close to my wife. What a life I have!"
“If you lived in the 21st century, you would be a teenager addicted to the internet.” Qin Xiaoyu poked his temple.
"You keep talking about the 21st century, what is it really like? Tell me about it."
"Back then, technology was already very advanced. We had mobile phones. Look, they were wireless, so you could make calls anywhere. And computers, do you know what a computer is? It's a processor, very fast. You could play a lot of large-scale 3D online games on a computer, and there was also VI, which could simulate real scenes and make you feel like you were there... Why are you looking at me like that?" Qin Xiaoyu saw that A Lei was staring blankly and thought she had scared him.
"Let's go back together. Isn't the world incredibly boring these days? Can't you wait to go back right away?"
"No, that world is boring. If I hadn't come here, I wouldn't have met you." Qin Xiaoyu never knew that she could say such sweet, cheesy pick-up lines.
"Really? Meeting me is that important to you?"
“It’s important, it’s important that I can give up everything.”
"Keep talking, or I'll get cocky." A Lei had never heard Qin Xiaoyu speak so obediently before. She was like a little hedgehog, always ready to fight.
"I don't want to talk about it anymore. Now tell me what you want to say. I'm tired."
“I’ve said sweet nothings to many women. But with you, I really don’t know what to say. I’ll get shy, and I’m afraid that every word I say will be unfulfilled and will hurt you.” A Lei rested his head on her shoulder, and the two of them leaned against each other without moving, as if time had stood still.
"Having a couple in the house is unbearable," Mrs. Fang muttered as she came downstairs.
"Grandma, aren't you asleep yet?" Qin Xiaoyu quickly stood up.
"I heard a commotion downstairs, what did she do this time?"
It turns out the old lady had everything under control.
"My little sister was being naughty..."
“Not every thing should be blamed on the child. My younger sister did nothing wrong.” Madam Fang interrupted Qin Xiaoyu rudely, asserting her ownership of the house.
Qin Xiaoyu and A Lei didn't want to be caught in the middle and become cannon fodder, so they hurriedly went back to sleep.
