Qin Xiaoyu wanted to explain, but A Lei tugged at her sleeve, and the two of them fled from Building 4 in a disheveled state.
Is that earth-shattering laughter coming from behind for real?
These people who love to watch the drama unfold.
"How embarrassing! I hate you!" Qin Xiaoyu got angrier and angrier, and rushed into the bathroom to attack A Lei.
"Let's take a bath together, a romantic bath..."
A Lei welcomes all comers.
By the time they went out, it was already time for a late-night snack.
"I'm so hungry." Qin Xiaoyu pouted, no longer having the courage to go out.
"I'm so hungry too, should I ask Laifu to get me something to eat?" A Lei always has a very creative mind.
"We have to go out eventually, right? Let's go." Qin Xiaoyu sighed and pulled A Lei out the door.
Just then, they saw Deng Jianyan and Zhou Yue going upstairs. The four of them exchanged glances. Zhou Yue and Deng Jianyan gave them a look, letting them understand on their own. The gist of it was that they had all been through similar experiences and understood.
The next day, Qin Xiaoyu slept in late, a rare occurrence, and it was almost noon when she went downstairs. She glanced at A Lei, who was still fast asleep, and quietly slipped out.
Building No. 4 was quiet at noon. There were chefs cooking in the kitchen, the clatter of bowls and plates mingling with occasional laughter.
Zhou Xing's mother and her three children sat by the window basking in the sun. Zhou Yue didn't come downstairs; the two nannies were busy with their own tasks—washing clothes and cleaning.
"Xiaoyu, seeing how well you and Alei get along, I'm relieved." Zhou Xing's mother looked at Qin Xiaoyu with affection.
"Mom." Qin Xiaoyu pouted, her face flushed, and leaned on her shoulder.
"Get up? Lazy girl." Commander Zhou walked in, his hands covered in mud.
"Tang Long's father gave you a lot of cotton gloves, but you didn't wear them," Zhou Xing's mother complained.
“Gloves are hard to wash, but hands are easy. I turned over the soil here today, and it’s almost time to sow the seeds.” Commander Zhou washed his hands, sat down, and teased each of the three children.
"These three really look alike. If they got any older, it would be hard to tell them apart." Qin Xiaoyu felt dizzy looking at the three identical chubby boys.
To be honest, all three children resembled Deng Jianyan; they were all handsome with delicate features, big eyes, and double eyelids, much prettier than Zhou Yue.
"Big Brother, the climate in Guangzhou is great. I've seen many families build small gardens on their rooftops; they're very beautiful. It's like spring all year round, with flowers always in bloom." Qin Xiaoyu began to subtly persuade them.
"I've seen it, it's very beautiful." Commander Zhou had no objection to going to Guangzhou.
“You can stay in the sanatorium in Guangzhou for a while, and your body needs to be recuperated,” Zhou Xing’s mother quickly said.
“Let’s go back together and have A Lei contact schools for Hanhan and the others.”
"No rush, don't transfer schools halfway through, let's do it together next semester." Commander Zhou stalled for time.
"I really have to praise A Lei for this. Look how well he's done as a stepfather. If it were anyone else, you two would have a wonderful life together, with someone else to take care of the child. But he doesn't mind the hassle of bringing the child along. What more could you ask for? You were so worried about this and that at first, but now you know? You don't need to be afraid of anything. What's yours is yours. My little Yu deserves to be loved by a good man." Zhou Xing's mother couldn't stop smiling when she talked about A Lei. Judging from Commander Zhou's expression, the old couple had praised him quite often.
"I guess I was lucky I didn't lose him. Sometimes I think about it, fate is really strange, the more you cherish it, the less likely you are to hold on to it..." Qin Xiaoyu stopped, she understood why Commander Zhou didn't want to leave with her.
They all left, but Zhou Xing remained.
The wife did send a message, still urging her to pick up the person. Just as she hung up the phone with her wife, her brother-in-law called again, telling her not to answer. Qin Xiaoyu was caught in the middle.
With everything arranged here, A Lei booked his flight and planned to return to Guangzhou.
Her cousin-in-law suddenly called her, saying that someone wanted to see her and that she needed to come over immediately.
Qin Xiaoyu arrived at Hengchang in no time, and in the office, she encountered an uninvited guest.
Qing Xiaoxu hasn't aged much, she's just become more composed and serious, having completely shed any of her former impetuousness.
She was wearing a navy blue suit and extended her hand to Qin Xiaoyu in a generous manner.
Seeing that they wanted to chat, my cousin's wife voluntarily left.
"Director Qin, I've come here today with a request. As a mother," Qing Xiaoxu said, her eyes reddening slightly, whether from humiliation or emotion.
"Please speak," Qin Xiaoyu said calmly.
"I'd like to ask you to take over Dafa Mall. You should know that Dafa Mall is now profitable. If you take over, you can easily make money. Why not?" Qing Xiaoxu hurriedly laid out the conditions.
"Oh, you've calculated it very clearly for me." Qin Xiaoyu had already guessed it.
The Bai Weiwei incident is quite perplexing. When she built the online store, she scraped together money from various sources. While each individual amount wasn't huge, the total added up to a considerable sum. She also took precautions against some instances of taking advantage of others, creating debts on their behalf.
That means if she has the money to settle the debts now, she might not get a long sentence, and could be released in about three to five years.
But now both Zuo Xiangyang and Qing Xiaoxu want to distance themselves from her, so no one is going to save her.
Now Qing Xiaoxu has come up with a good idea: to sell Dafa Mall and get the money so that he can almost settle the accounts.
But finding someone in the city to take over Dafeng Mall is incredibly difficult. State-owned enterprises are struggling to survive, and individuals don't have that kind of financial resources. After all the calculations, only Qin Xiaoyu has the ability.
Taking advantage of the trip back to the city for a meeting, she swallowed her pride and came to beg for help.
“You’re in business, you know Dafa Mall is a sure-fire way to make money. You name your price, as long as you’re willing to sell and it’s reasonable.” Qing Xiaoxu didn’t want to waste time, and it would be troublesome if others saw this.
"You're a good mother to your daughter. Bai Weiwei is quite lucky." Qin Xiaoyu wasn't being sarcastic.
"It's no use saying all this. Just tell me, are you going to take it or not?" Qing Xiaoxu vaguely sensed that Qin Xiaoyu wasn't interested in this matter.
With her limited perspective, she hadn't yet grasped Qin Xiaoyu's determination to expand outwards. At the time, she thought Qin Xiaoyu would pounce on her as soon as she heard there was an opportunity to profit.
Looking back now, I realize I miscalculated everything; maybe she shouldn't have come looking for a beating. That slap in the face really hurts.
"No, please leave." Qin Xiaoyu stood up to see her off.
Qing Xiaoxu knew that further discussion was pointless, so she turned and left.
"It's a good deal to take over; it's more cost-effective than building another one yourself." My cousin-in-law was considering it from an economic perspective, showing she was quite resourceful.
"This is for others to see. I, Qin Xiaoyu, have been through a lot. I can't give people the impression of being a pushover, someone anyone can bully. If anyone tries to mess with me in the future, just think of Bai Weiwei in prison. Isn't she afraid?"
Qin Xiaoyu explained to her cousin-in-law that this was family, and some things couldn't be left unsaid. As for outsiders, let them guess.
"I heard that if no one is willing to buy it, it will be auctioned off."
"Then you should have someone prepare. Good things are meant to be snatched." Qin Xiaoyu winked and went downstairs with a smile.
