Chapter 727 Mother and Child Connected

“That was abroad. You’re here. I won’t allow it.” A Lei was also very stubborn.

"You really don't need to do this, I don't care. If you're worried about people saying you're unfilial or something, I can explain for you." Sure enough, Miranda spoke without any restraint, poking at where Are was hurt.

This is why Qin Xiaoyu is worried: why should the person she cherishes and loves be hurt by someone else?

"Miranda, I think since you live in the human world, you should experience some of the realities of life. If you only want to be a fairy, then don't come down to earth. You are A Lei's mother, so at least act like a mother. What are you doing?" Qin Xiaoyu retorted.

"Xiaoyu, stop talking, go back." A Lei's aggrieved look left Qin Xiaoyu speechless.

When has he ever been this cowardly?

Miranda insisted that they not stay, so A Lei and Qin Xiaoyu had no choice but to leave the hospital and return to Mrs. Fang's house.

There were only two servants and the two of them in the entire building, and it was so quiet that it felt a little strange.

Qin Xiaoyu began to miss her lively home and the children. Although A Lei remained silent, he clearly hadn't fallen asleep either.

"It's okay, we're here." Qin Xiaoyu went over and hugged him. A Lei patted her hand without saying anything.

"What kind of person is your father?" Qin Xiaoyu suddenly became interested in his family.

"He's very serious, rarely smiles, and only gets excited in the lab. He hardly expresses any emotion and is very strict with me." In just a few words, A Lei had already conveyed the distance between the two of them.

"I think I understand now. Miranda must have some misunderstanding about STEM guys, so she jumped in headfirst, and then cut her losses once she realized it was a scam." Qin Xiaoyu understood after thinking about it carefully. How could someone like Miranda spend her life with a boring man?

“He’s not boring. He knows a lot more than I do. It’s just that neither of them met the right person,” Are sighed.

In the middle of the night, the phone suddenly rang loudly. It was the hospital calling; they had left their phone number at the nurses' station when they left.

Miranda suddenly suffered heart failure and is being resuscitated.

When they arrived at the hospital, Miranda was still in the emergency room, the red light on the door making everyone anxious. A Lei was trembling with nervousness, and Qin Xiaoyu hugged him tightly, unsure how to comfort him.

At daybreak, Miranda was out of danger but remained under observation. Are was allowed to go in and visit her.

Miranda looked thin and frail under the white sheets. Ale walked with difficulty to her bedside, then suddenly knelt down and burst into tears.

Miranda's monitors went off, and doctors and nurses rushed in.

"Don't agitate the patient, get out of here!" Are was dragged out and thrown out, while Miranda was surrounded by various tubes.

"I couldn't control myself, I was wrong." A Lei nestled in Qin Xiaoyu's arms, crying like a child.

Qin Xiaoyu felt a strange sense of relief. Who said Miranda had no feelings? Machines don't lie. When she saw Are crying, her identity as a mother was revived.

Miranda did not refuse when Are stayed to take care of her.

Zhou Xingma was still very worried, so she and Commander Zhou escorted Xiao Jiajia back to Shanghai, and Madam Fang also came back.

With the baby here, breastfeeding wouldn't be affected, so Qin Xiaoyu and A Lei no longer had any worries and could focus on taking care of Miranda.

"You're recovering very quickly. The doctor said you can be discharged in another week." Qin Xiaoyu was worried that Miranda's body wouldn't circulate properly from lying down, so she would massage her whenever she had time.

A Lei was too embarrassed to ask for help; he could only run errands or pick up medicine.

"Thank you," Miranda finally managed to say.

"It's nothing, it's what family should do."

Miranda was unusually tame.

Miranda returned to Mrs. Fang's house immediately after being discharged from the hospital, this time staying in the main building for easier care. She was already eager to get back to work, and A Lei, though furious, dared not say anything, and could only send Qin Xiaoyu to talk to her.

"If you put your life on the line, you might be just as good as me." Miranda glanced at Qin Xiaoyu over her glasses, making her feel guilty.

"I'm young..."

“Ha, if you said that to the former Mrs. Fang, she would have thrown you into the cold palace and never let you out again.” After Miranda finished speaking, they both laughed.

"Grandma isn't difficult to get along with."

“I know she’s much better than me; she’s very shrewd. But she’s not a good mother either; you can tell from her children.”

“Yes, neither of us knows how to be a mother,” Qin Xiaoyu sighed. “I’m still learning.”

"Those who say that motherhood is innate are probably all men."

"That's what I think too."

Miranda was only twenty-three years old when she gave birth to Are.

Before that, she was a free-spirited rich girl who traveled extensively from a young age and had a wide range of knowledge. She had changed boyfriends one after another, and her family even doubted whether she would ever get married.

When she saw A Lei's father, she immediately rushed into the room.

A Lei's father had a strikingly handsome face, especially when he was focused, his eyes would light up. Unlike the Fang family, he had almost no scandals and spent most of his time in the library or laboratory.

He gave his first love to Miranda, which was both vain and fulfilling for her.

A Lei's father clumsily pursued love; in his lover's eyes, everything about him was simply adorable, with no flaws whatsoever.

But when Are was born, everything changed.

Miranda endured all the pain of childbirth, only to find that her father, Alec, wasn't ready to be a father when she was trapped by a soft, crying little thing.

“My troubles were the opposite of my best friends’; they didn’t know where their husbands were. But I knew he was in the lab.” Miranda recalled, her gaze softening, tinged with sadness. “I tried to keep him, but you know what he said to me? He talked about the half-life of matter…”

Qin Xiaoyu almost burst out laughing when she heard this. It wasn't very kind of her, but she really wanted to laugh.

"Laugh if you want. Now I can say things so casually that I'm not afraid of being laughed at anymore." Miranda saw through her thoughts.

Miranda, in a fit of anger, filed for divorce, and Ale's father panicked. For some inexplicable reason, he was convinced that Miranda must have fallen out of love with him and started loving someone else.

The Fang family did not interfere excessively in the divorce. Mrs. Fang simply made a phone call, and the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had a huge argument on the phone, even though they were thousands of kilometers apart.

Caught in the middle, Aleba was even more at a loss. He found that these women were much more difficult to deal with than those physics problems.

Finally, in an attempt to quell the situation, he did something that enraged Miranda, something she could never forgive him for.

He announced that he had cheated on his wife.

He only wanted Miranda to get a smooth divorce, but he didn't expect it to be an insult to her. Her self-esteem was trampled underfoot, crushed and bleeding.
