Chapter 768 Rescue

Without a word, A Lei shielded Qin Xiaoyu behind him. Xu Jingye, who was always the most cowardly, didn't run this time and charged straight forward.

Qin Xiaoyu immediately realized that it was Su Ju who had the accident, and she pulled A Lei forward to push through.

The people in the market are all daring; they've seen it all. Fighting, brawling, killing people are as commonplace as killing fish. They actually formed a circle, clearing out space for their stalls.

The stall was a complete mess, with many buckets overturned on the ground and fish writhing and struggling. The stall owner stood at a distance, his face ashen, heartbroken and stamping his feet, too afraid to approach.

In the center was a beggar who held a fish-killing knife to Su Ju's neck.

Su Ju was held tightly by him, unable to move. A bloody cut had been made on her fair neck, and blood was flowing down, a shocking sight.

"You bitch, you dare call the police to arrest me? I'll take you with me today! Those two damn sluts, come out here! Let's go!" the beggar shouted arrogantly.

The locals couldn't understand what he was saying, and there was a lot of discussion about it.

"Go! Don't come any closer! Go!" Su Ju shouted in a high-pitched voice, trying to warn her daughters.

Qin Xiaoyu felt a pang of pain in her heart. Only after having Xiao Jiajia could she truly understand the feelings of being a mother.

She was willing to sacrifice her life for the child. She looked up at A Lei. A Lei's eyes were bright; he was already thinking of a way to save the child.

"You'd be safer if you blend into the crowd," A Lei said bluntly, shoving her into the throng. Qin Xiaoyu was short, but luckily most people in Guangzhou were short, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to see what was happening.

“Brother, why bother? What’s with all this talk about going on the road or not? Nobody’s after you, you should just run away.” Xu Jingye suddenly stepped out from the crowd.

"Stop joking with me!" Seeing him walk forward, the beggar hit him harder, the blade went deeper, and blood splattered.

Xu Jingye panicked and stopped.

“I have money here, take it. What’s the use of killing her? You won’t have a good life either. This is enough for you to live a good life for a few years. Go to Hong Kong, you don’t need to come back, and no one will arrest you.” Xu Jingye pulled a bulging mailbox out of his pocket.

He slowly pulled a wad of cash out of the wad.

This was something he intended to give to Su Ju; he came prepared.

The beggar's eyes widened at the sight of so much money, and he became somewhat distracted.

"Isn't that enough? I'll get you more. Just release him and let's get out of here before the police arrive!" Xu Jingye urged, seeing that he was tempted.

"How can I trust you?" the beggar said hesitantly. He glanced at the money on the ground, then at Xu Jingye, and loosened his grip on the knife.

Just then, a person rushed up from behind, holding an iron dustpan, and slammed it down.

Hearing the commotion, the beggar instinctively raised his knife to block, but he was already hit on the back. The person who had hit him was also cut on the arm by the knife and cried out in pain as he let go.

In that instant, Xu Jingye pounced on the beggar and knocked him to the ground.

A Lei rushed over to help, and the two of them subdued the beggar, rendering him unable to move.

Qin Xiaoyu went over and helped Zhenzhen up; it was she who had just attacked the beggar with the winnowing basket.

She didn't hide to escape; she just happened to be away. When she returned and realized something was wrong, she disregarded her own safety and rushed to save her mother.

The knife used to kill the fish was very sharp; it just cut Zhenzhen's arm, leaving a bloody gash with the flesh exposed and blood flowing freely.

Qin Xiaoyu quickly tore off her coat, wrapped it tightly around Zhenzhen's arm, and pinched her hard.

Zhenzhen was still a child, and seeing so much blood made her weak and she slid to the ground. Qin Xiaoyu could only hold her and sit her down on the ground, not caring about the mud or the fish.

The stall owner rushed back to save his fish. Although Su Ju was free, she remained in her original position without moving.

Her ex-husband rushed over and started smashing things. She went to stop him, but was pinned under a metal cot that was pushed over, and she couldn't pull her legs out.

Qin Xiaoyu couldn't help Zhenzhen with her bleeding arm, so she could only shout for the stall owner. The guy was only focused on picking up fish and ignored her completely.

Those who were just watching didn't want to get involved, so they just watched and didn't interfere.

Fortunately, the crowd parted and the police arrived.

They took Su Ju and her daughter to the hospital. After an examination, it was found that Zhenzhen's arm required five stitches, but fortunately, the tendons were not damaged.

Su Ju fractured her lower leg, had it put in a cast, and will need to stay in the hospital for a few days.

Her ex-husband has just been apprehended and will be sent back to serve his sentence.

"Thank you, Xiaoyu, I'm too ashamed to face you," Su Ju said, tears streaming down her face.

"I heard from Sister Man that you were back, so I came to see you. Are you planning to stay?"

"No, I thought it would be safer here. That bastard can't speak Cantonese, he can't survive here, he'll definitely leave. I didn't expect him to be guarding this place, just waiting for me to go see Xu Jingye to catch me..." Su Ju blurted out, her face turned red and she lowered her head even further.

“You can’t let go of him, and he can’t let go of you. Stop hiding.” Qin Xiaoyu sighed, got up and went to the door of the ward, and called Xu Jingye in.

She pulled Zhenzhen out the door, but couldn't help but steal a glance back when they reached the doorway. The two of them were already embracing and crying.

A Lei returned to the market, found the boss, and together they brought him back to the shop, handing him over to Ye Qiu.

"I knew it! That day I vaguely saw a woman who looked like Su Ju, glancing into our shop every now and then. She must be here to see her lover," Ye Qiu said, laughing heartily.

“My mom thinks about Uncle Xu every single day, and she always cries secretly when she goes to bed at night,” Zhenzhen sighed.

"Alright, let them get married. This whole ordeal has been quite a story," Ye Qiu sighed.

“I’m really touched. Xu Jingye is a coward and afraid of trouble, but he dared to face the knife for Su Ju. It’s clear that he was truly in love. Now that Su Ju’s ex-husband is in jail, they can finally have a few good days.”

True love prevails in the end; the process may be winding, but the ending is happy.

Although Xu Jingye was slightly injured, he was overjoyed to be reunited with Su Ju.

He was about to marry his sweetheart, a truly joyous occasion. He was constantly rushing to the hospital, delivering meals, looking at houses to prepare for the wedding, always on the go, practically walking on air.

While everyone else on the team was struggling to design new products, he was always beaming with joy, his usual gloom gone, and he was incredibly energetic.

"Are you on some kind of high or hormones? Can't you just shut up for a bit?" Master Liang was annoyed by his smugness. He wasn't helping at all, he was just making things worse.

Xu Jingye was telling Ye Qiu and the others what happened at the fish market that day, ignoring Master Liang and continuing to gesture.

Qin Xiaoyu had mentioned it once, but only briefly. These women are very gossipy and wanted to hear the details.

“I saw Zhenzhen rush up from behind. While he was distracted, I pounced forward, pinned him to the ground, and started slapping him across the face! I slapped him until his mouth was full of blood.”

"Doesn't he have a knife in his hand?" Ye Qiu listened quite carefully.
