Chapter 818 What's a Screen?

"Quickly, take him to the hospital!" Qin Xiaoyu first checked the worker's injuries. Judging from his pain, his arm was probably broken.

Fudi and two other workers took him out.

Qin Xiaoyu then squatted down to look at the broken screen, which was beyond repair.

"Isn't there a spare?" Qin Xiaoyu asked Fang Baobao.

"These were all acquired with great effort. Transporting them from China involves cultural relic management, and the application process is extremely complicated, so we had no choice but to find them locally." Fang Baobao shook her head with difficulty.

"How about using two pieces of gauze in front?" A Lei rushed over upon hearing the suggestion and offered his advice.

"Oh no, the image has gaps, it feels weird, and it's clearly not full enough." Qin Xiaoyu sighed, nothing is perfect.

The venue was quickly set up, and everything was ready except for the empty screen space.

"Is Fu Di back?" Qin Xiaoyu stood up when she heard a noise at the door.

A stylish and capable woman entered. After confirming that the person in front of her was Qin Xiaoyu, she handed her a folder.

Qin Xiaoyu recognized the person; he was Miranda's assistant. Curious, she opened the folder. Inside was only a freshly printed magazine, still warm and smelling of ink.

One of the pages was folded, and Qin Xiaoyu turned it over. Although she didn't understand French, she recognized the pictures.

This article only included two pictures, which were the two outfits from the opening of the Sun and Moon Fashion collection.

Images from the rehearsal still leaked out.

"Is it Linda?"

"It shouldn't be her. There were just too many people passing through, and it's hard to say who might have been greedy and wanted to make some money. Luckily, there were only two." A Lei shook his head.

"These two are the real bombshells. There's no surprise coming to tomorrow's opening." Qin Xiaoyu suddenly felt a little disheartened. She always works so hard, why is there always someone sabotaging her?

“It’s okay, shh, you don’t have to be perfect…” A Lei came over and hugged her.

Qin Xiaoyu didn't understand why she faced so many obstacles despite her efforts to live.

A Lei is right. She doesn't necessarily have to achieve 100%, but she clearly put in 150% effort.

Qin Xiaoyu was upset and went to the door to get some night air. A Lei followed silently behind her.

Fu Di was gone for quite a while, so A Lei called him once to say that there were no problems with the workers.

It wasn't until evening that Fu Di showed up. He didn't come back alone; there were two cars following behind him. Xiao Yu's mother and Fu Yongnian got out of one car, and the other was a truck where workers were preparing to unload the goods.

"Mom, Dad, what brings you here?" Qin Xiaoyu guessed that Fu Di had said something that made them worried, so they came to check on them.

"Sister, everything's been taken care of, the screen is in place," Fu Di said while directing the workers.

"What is this?" Qin Xiaoyu stared wide-eyed at the two folding screens that the workers had carried down. "These must be quite old."

This sandalwood screen with kesi (silk tapestry) and inlaid jade and stone looks familiar; I think I've seen it in the Forbidden City. Is it a replica or a genuine antique?

“Things at home that haven’t been used for a long time are just sitting there anyway,” Fu Yongnian explained.

Qin Xiaoyu didn't believe any of this. She thought that the things that hadn't been used for a long time were probably just antiques collected by Fu Yongnian, which were quite valuable and were just used as props.

The frustration I felt just moments ago has vanished.

After everything was installed, Fu Di was still worried and feared another accident, so he insisted on staying at the show venue to sleep.

Their fashion show is tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., which isn't the best time. But because it's the first time in China, it's attracted quite a few viewers.

Qin Xiaoyu went backstage again and, seeing that everything was arranged, came out with Xiaoyu's mother and the others.

Qin Xiaoyu will be staying at her place tonight, so she won't be able to leave with her mother.

Everything at home was ready. The models had gone to bed early to rest, while the designers were still in a meeting. News of the leak had already reached them, and they were discussing whether to change the two outfits used for the opening show.

The two costumes for the opening scene, one designed by Master Liang and the other by Xu Jingye, are both classic works.

Both outfits are made of mulberry silk, but the difference is that one uses a transparent veil with small transparent wings of the same color on the back, while the other has natural pleats that hang down and are piled up, with the color going from light to dark from top to bottom.

The fashion pieces are made from the same piece of fabric, a lake blue that is calm and beautiful, seemingly able to draw people in.

Judging from the reviews in fashion magazines, both outfits were praised highly.

It's just a sensitive time right now. I'm afraid that if everyone has a magazine in hand at the fashion show tomorrow, then seeing the actual products won't feel so new anymore.

This magazine actually gained some popularity thanks to Sun Moon Fashion, which is really unfair.

There was a commotion outside the building. A taxi stopped, and the two people who entered caught Qin Xiaoyu's eye.

Xiao Mengting and Zhu Jiudi and his wife also came over.

"Sister Meng, it's so good that you came." Qin Xiaoyu needed all her support.

"We went to the exhibition hall first. It was beautifully decorated, you could say it was perfect," Zhu Jiujiu said with a smile.

"Unfortunately, there are always imperfections. The images of the two major fashion pieces at the beginning have been leaked." Qin Xiaoyu showed them the magazine.

"What should we do then? Change into the clothes from the back?"

“These two outfits were carefully selected, and none of the later fashions can surpass them. If we force them to be replaced, I'm afraid the effect will be even worse.” Qin Xiaoyu shook her head.

"I have an idea, but I don't know if Xiaoyu can accept it." Zhu Jiujiu was still smiling, looking unhurried.

"Brother-in-law, tell me quickly, I need all sorts of ideas right now."

“Let Tingting and I start the show. Since you’ve already decided on a Chinese style, our opening will fit the style. Besides, we’ve toured Europe before, and tickets were incredibly hard to come by. Foreigners were fascinated by our plays. That’s something to look forward to.”

"That's a great idea! But do you have the right gear?" Qin Xiaoyu's excitement cooled down again.

"He has a house here, and all his clothes and accessories; he needs them wherever he goes. I can manage with him." Xiao Mengting's words were tinged with pride. Having a husband like that was a dream come true. She was truly a lucky person.

Despite saying that, Qin Xiaoyu still didn't sleep well all night, sighing even in her dreams.

A Lei was so heartbroken that he couldn't sleep either. He propped himself up on his arm and looked at her. In her dream, she pouted, looking incredibly aggrieved, which made him feel sorry for her.

They got up very early the next day to be the first to enter, which was very important. Once more people arrived, things would get complicated. Many models didn't speak French, and the language barrier meant losing even one would be a serious problem.

After gathering all the models and designers together, Qin Xiaoyu breathed a sigh of relief.

The clothes are already on the hangers; now we just need to follow the rehearsed steps one by one.

She walked to the edge of the stage, lifted the thin veil, and looked out. Palace lanterns, screens, moon gates, round fans—a hazy, dreamlike Eastern scene. If only everything hadn't been for that little incident that leaked the secret.
