"It's been a long time since I've eaten anything this delicious," A Lei's dad muttered, dropping a small shortbread cookie.
Two pastries were served on his plate at the same time, one from Miranda and one from Are.
A Lei's father looked up in surprise. They were all a little flustered and quickly put down the pastries, then lowered their heads and ate them voraciously.
Qin Xiaoyu suddenly understood why A Lei would rather have an awkward conversation than leave. It must have been a rare occasion for him to have his parents present, or perhaps the first time since he could remember.
Her eyes suddenly welled up with tears. Poor Are, she should have been more considerate. He was just threatening to leave, but thankfully Miranda knew how to care for her son and saved him the day.
A Lei's dad finished all the shortbread in front of him, still wanting more. The remaining shortbread was all gone; there weren't any left.
"Uncle, if you like it, I'll make it for you next time," Xiao Jin said with a sweet smile.
"Oh." A Lei's father didn't know how to respond.
“We’re in New York now,” Miranda explained.
"Oh." A Lei's father was really clueless, and Qin Xiaoyu was getting anxious just looking at him.
"Can we come to see you this weekend?" Hanhan was so curious about the room; she hadn't seen enough of it yet.
"Sure, if I'm not out in a meeting, I'll definitely be at home."
Qin Xiaoyu suddenly remembered what Miranda had said: all her other best friends got divorced after knowing where their husbands were, but she got divorced because she knew her husband was definitely in the lab.
She couldn't help but let a smile creep onto her lips.
A Lei glanced at her, his eyes filled with questions.
"Are there any vacant rooms in this building? We can stay here tonight." Qin Xiaoyu's words startled everyone present.
“There are plenty of empty rooms.” A Lei’s father was an honest man with low emotional intelligence and couldn’t lie, so he told him the truth right away.
This answer put everyone in an awkward position, leaving them with no choice but to comply with Qin Xiaoyu's wishes.
The rooms on the third floor were all empty, but no one had been living there for a long time. It seemed that A Lei's father didn't have many visitors. The blankets were rather unsatisfactory.
"Uncle, where is the storage room?" Xiao Jin, always outgoing, ran to find Lei's father.
Lei's father had no choice but to point to the basement, and Xiao Jin ran over. A short while later, she returned carrying a huge vacuum cleaner.
Qin Xiaoyu and Miranda couldn't hide their surprise, while A Lei and Hanhan could only sit on the sidelines and watch them make a fuss.
Xiao Jin works efficiently and decisively, Miranda can barely help out, and Qin Xiaoyu is always the one being disliked.
Soon she sat down next to A Lei and they both stared blankly at each other. Xiao Jin made it clear that she didn't need to help and would only make things worse.
When they returned to their respective rooms, the rooms were spotless and the bedding was soft and fluffy.
"This bed is big enough for a princess to sleep in," Xiao Jin said proudly.
She tidied up three rooms in total: one for the A Lei couple, one for her and Miranda, and one for Hanhan.
"You can go to bed now!" Xiao Jin said, carrying the vacuum cleaner, looking like she hadn't had enough.
"I'll send it to the basement tomorrow. You can take a shower and go to bed." Miranda, who was as strong as an iron man, was almost unable to keep her eyes open.
"There's one more place, you guys go to sleep first!" Xiao Jin carried the vacuum cleaner and ran upstairs to the second floor. Miranda tried to stop her, but it was too late.
Within minutes, poor A Lei's father was kicked out of the bedroom and stood in the hallway, dazed.
Qin Xiaoyu suddenly understood how Xiao Jin had won over Miranda.
In fact, Miranda and Are's father are the same kind of people at heart. They are not good at life and belong to the elite type of specialists. They are obsessed with one thing and are weak in other aspects.
Yet, he is unwilling to ask for help, is introverted, and has a strong will. He would rather isolate himself than cause trouble.
But Xiao Jin was too aggressive; she was as passionate as fire, like sunshine, shining directly into all the gloom, leaving no room for resistance.
Her demanding nature was exactly what quelled the aloofness of both Are's father and Miranda.
They have a masochistic personality; they feel good even though they say it's bad when someone tries to control them.
Xiao Jin stormed into Miranda's life like a whirlwind and became her master.
Now Xiaojin is using this trick on Lei's dad.
It must be said that Zhou Yue has raised her daughter very well; she is both capable and gentle, truly a rare and excellent housewife.
Qin Xiaoyu was a little envious; her little princess would probably only be pampered from now on.
However, judging from A Lei's attitude, it will be difficult for the younger sister to get married. But if A Lei agrees to the marriage, she won't suffer any losses.
"What kind of wicked idea are you coming up with this time?" A Lei asked, seeing Qin Xiaoyu's mischievous grin after taking a shower.

“No need to beg, it’s already completely dark.” A Lei understood his father.
When Xiao Jin came out of A Lei's father's room looking disheveled, he didn't dare to go in.
It was probably so clean inside that it made him question his existence.
"I really want to stay for a week and do a thorough cleaning from top to bottom." Xiao Jin's words startled A Lei's father so much that he almost bumped into the door.
As night fell, Qin Xiaoyu, who had a habit of being picky about where to sit, found herself unable to sleep due to the many exciting things that had happened that day.
It was eerily quiet over there with A Lei; he probably wasn't asleep, but he was pretending.
In their relationship, Qin Xiaoyu values giving her partner space. If he's pretending to be asleep and wants to be alone, she won't disturb him.
"Thank you." A Lei finally broke the silence, reaching out to silently pull Qin Xiaoyu into his arms.
"What are you thanking me for?" Qin Xiaoyu thought to herself. I've done so much today, why are you thanking me for anything?
"Thank you for letting us stay. I thought I would never live under the same roof as my parents in my lifetime. The wish that I couldn't fulfill when I got married has come true today." A Lei buried his head in Qin Xiaoyu's neck and refused to come out.
Qin Xiaoyu guessed it; he was crying.
What does it matter? He can just have a good cry and vent his feelings; he's suffering too much inside.
"We should thank Xiaojin. This child is like a wall-breaking machine, breaking down all the barriers. What amazing energy!"
"I can't help but laugh when I talk about Xiao Jin. I didn't realize she was so amazing."
"I only understood how she won over Miranda today." Qin Xiaoyu slowly sat up; she hadn't eaten much for dinner and was hungry.
When Xiaojin and her friends came back from shopping, they put milk in the refrigerator, which she noticed.
Hearing that she was going to steal milk, A Lei let her go. The only dangerous place in this room was the laboratory, and Qin Xiaoyu's foodie instincts wouldn't let her get lost.
As Qin Xiaoyu passed by Hanhan's room, she quietly pushed open the door and peeked inside.
Hanhan was sleeping soundly, his long eyelashes drooping, completely still. He already had the features of a young man, and Qin Xiaoyu restrained the urge to kiss him and withdrew.
When she reached the second floor, she could faintly hear noises below, so she slowed her pace.
The sound was coming from the kitchen. Could someone have gotten there first and stolen the milk?
