Chapter 1 Rebirth and Blind Date

Unexpectedly, Ji Wanmei gave him a cold look.

He couldn't help but wonder: the two of them had met when they were young and were childhood sweethearts, so why did Ji Wanmei look at him like this?

Having studied in Guangcheng for two years, he was quite popular with the female students at his school and was very confident in his charm.

Yang Changhua gave him a push from behind and whispered, "What are you standing there for? You're in someone else's house, so don't be so immature. Make a good impression."

Yang Zhiping coughed and said, "I know."

The group entered the main room of the courtyard and sat down. The matchmaker then started chatting with a smile, praising Ji Xingguo for raising his daughter, Ji Wanmei, to be a beautiful and graceful young woman; and praising Yang Changhua for educating his son, a graduate of a prestigious university in Guangcheng, who would surely follow in his father's footsteps and achieve great success.

Ji Wanmei was boiling water in the kitchen. She stared at the kettle emitting white steam, and her expression gradually calmed down after the initial shock.

She will definitely refuse this blind date.

However, if she were to tell her father directly that she knew what would happen to her after marrying Yang Zhiping, her father would definitely think she was talking nonsense.

Her father was an old-fashioned man who valued traditional values. He believed that he and Yang Changhua had known each other for decades and knew each other well. He had also watched his son, Yang Zhiping, grow up. He thought that if she married into the family, he could take care of her nearby and she would not suffer any grievances.

From her father's perspective at that time, he was very approving and satisfied with the marriage.

But Ji Wanmei also knew how much her father loved her, and if she really didn't want to, he wouldn't force her.

only……

Ji Wanmei not only had to reject the marriage proposal from the Yang family, but also had to find a way to let her father see the true colors of the Yang family father and son so that he could be on guard in the future.

Outside the courtyard, Ji Xingguo and Yang Changhua sat on bamboo chairs, chatting.

Ji Xingguo looked Yang Zhiping up and down with satisfaction: "Zhiping, now that you've graduated from university, what are your plans for the future?"

Yang Zhiping glanced at the kitchen window every now and then. Hearing this, he adjusted his glasses and said humbly and respectfully, "Uncle Ji, the reason I came back this time is to bring the technology and new ideas I learned in university back to our Dongfang Factory. I plan to start as a basic worker, gradually familiarize myself with every production line in our factory, and then sell our products all over the country."

Ji Xingguo nodded repeatedly and smiled, "Yes, it's good to be young, you have ambition!"

Yang Changhua chimed in, trying to smooth things over: "A young man like him only has enthusiasm; he needs to learn to be down-to-earth."

"Hey, young people should be energetic and daring. We'll both be retiring in a few years, and the factory will be theirs to run after that."

Yang Changhua, the deputy factory director in charge of business and sales, was shrewd and perceptive. He immediately greeted him, "Brother Ji, you look even more energetic than me. You could easily work for another twenty years!"

Ji Xingguo waved his hand: "Sigh, I can't deny that I'm getting old. Meimei is all grown up now. Her mother passed away early, and I've been both her father and mother to raise her all these years. I don't ask for anything, I just hope that she will marry into a good family in the future, so that I can retire without any worries."

After much rambling, we finally got down to business.

"Meimei is sensible and considerate, and she even got into a top city university. Whoever marries her is incredibly lucky and will surely treat her well."

Yang Changhua immediately expressed his opinion, and then gestured to Yang Zhiping next to him.

Yang Zhiping quickly straightened up and said to Ji Xingguo, "Uncle Ji, don't worry, I, Yang Zhiping, will be the first to object to anyone who dares to treat Wanmei badly or bully her."

Hearing this from the kitchen, Ji Wanmei couldn't help but sneer.

In her past life, Yang Zhiping's true nature was revealed less than two years after they got married. Not only did he and his son collude to embezzle the factory's assets and oust her father from his position as factory director, but he also had other women outside the marriage and even had an illegitimate child.

When Ji Wanmei angrily questioned him, Yang Zhiping raised his hand and slapped her across the face, completely abandoning his previous pretense of civility.

He even insulted her, saying, "If it weren't for the fact that your dad is the factory director, do you think I would have married you?"

"Damn it, you really think you're a princess? I've had enough of me groveling and serving you these past few years!"

Ji Wanmei never imagined that the marriage partner her father had carefully selected for her would be such a despicable and shameless person.

Thinking of those past events she didn't want to recall, Ji Wanmei couldn't help but think of another man—Lei Tingjun.

In her past life, it was he who saved her life when she was almost killed by Yang Zhiping. When he saw how badly she was injured, he was so enraged that he accidentally knocked Yang Zhiping to death on the head. As a result, he was convicted of manslaughter and served a full ten years in prison for her.

After ending her disastrous marriage with Yang Zhiping, Ji Wanmei lived alone for ten years, hoping to repay Lei Tingjun for saving her life when he was released.

When the car accident happened, Ji Wanmei was driving to Pingquan Prison to see Lei Tingjun.

Unfortunately, she never got to see him again.

Now that she has been reborn, she still has the opportunity to change herself and also change Lei Tingjun's life trajectory.
