Chapter Ten
Yang Zhiping, thinking himself very gentlemanly and considerate, said, "Anyway, it's almost lunchtime, and you're going to find a restaurant in the county anyway. How about I treat you? We've been childhood friends for a long time, let's get together, shall we?"
When Luo Chunyan saw that Yang Zhiping's eyes were glued to Ji Wanmei the whole time he was talking, she knew that he had ulterior motives.
Luo Chunyan had vaguely heard about the matchmaking between the Yang and Ji families.
After all, with that gossipy fat matchmaker involved, and that matchmaker with the big mouth, she wanted to broadcast any gossip she had to the whole county and the surrounding area.
Moreover, on that day, all the neighbors saw Deputy Factory Director Yang taking his son Yang Zhiping and the matchmaker to the Ji family's courtyard.
The news naturally leaked out.
It's no wonder that the news reached Luo Chunyan's ears.
Luo Chunyan originally thought that with Yang Zhiping being a promising young man, a college graduate, and both of their fathers being factory director and deputy factory director, the marriage between the Yang and Ji families would go smoothly.
But now, as she watches silently from the sidelines, it seems that's not the case at all.
Meimei's attitude towards Yang Zhiping was strange; it wasn't just dislike, but even disgust.
This made Luo Chunyan curious. What had happened to make Ji Wanmei, who was usually good-tempered, so cold to Yang Zhiping?
Ji Wanmei's face was cold, and she didn't even bother with feigned pleasantries. She said directly, "Who's your sister! Don't call me that. I have no relation to you."
That's a rather awkward thing to say.
However, Ji Wanmei underestimated Yang Zhiping's shamelessness. A fleeting hint of embarrassment crossed his face, but he quickly regained his composure.
Yang Zhiping smiled, pushed up his glasses, and rubbed his hands together. "Alright then, since Sister Wanmei doesn't want me to call you that, I'll just call you by your name."
Yang Zhiping: "I originally thought that since I'm a few years older than you guys and we've known each other since we were little, it wouldn't be a problem for me to call you 'brother'. But it's okay, we're all grown up now, so there's no need to be so formal... There's plenty of time in the future."
There's still plenty of time?
Who wants to spend the future with a piece of trash like you?
Ji Wanmei was utterly speechless at Yang Zhiping's shamelessness.
Although she already knew what a shameless person Yang Zhiping was, she had seen through him from the very beginning before he even started pretending. Ji Wanmei still had to admire how superb his acting skills were.
So hypocritical and good at acting, it's a real shame he's not an actor!
Ji Wanmei felt a surge of revulsion, nausea, and utter disgust.
She grabbed Luo Chunyan's hand, turned around with a cold face, and said, "Chunyan, let's not talk to people we don't know well. Let's go for a walk around the workers' center. It's lively there."
While Ji Wanmei and Yang Zhiping were talking, Luo Chunyan stood quietly to the side, her eyes constantly glancing back and forth between the two of them.
Now that Ji Wanmei was trying to pull her away, Luo Chunyan naturally listened to her best friend.
However, Luo Chunyan did not dare to offend Yang Zhiping as directly as Ji Wanmei, after all, his father was the deputy factory director in charge of finance and external sales, and was the second-in-command with real power.
Offending him could jeopardize not only your own job, but also your parents' jobs.
Luo Chunyan had no choice but to apologize, saying, "Then, Brother Yang, I'm sorry, Meimei and I will go and have a look around over there first."
In front of outsiders, especially women, Yang Zhiping always maintained a gentle and gentlemanly demeanor, and naturally did not show the slightest anger.
He smiled and nodded politely, "Okay, then let's do it next time. I'll treat you to dinner again next time."
But after Ji Wanmei and Luo Chunyan walked away towards the workers' center, Yang Zhiping's smile slowly faded.
He frowned, his narrow eyes behind his black-rimmed glasses staring at Ji Wanmei's back for a long while, revealing a gloomy look of certainty.
After walking down the street where Yang Zhiping was no longer in sight, Luo Chunyan looked back once before turning around and nudging Ji Wanmei with her elbow.
"Hey, Meimei, what's going on between you and Yang Zhiping?"
Ji Wanmei said calmly, "There's nothing wrong, just what you see here."
Luo Chunyan asked in confusion, "But I heard that both your father and his father were quite satisfied with the marriage between the two families. You're not satisfied with Yang Zhiping?"
Ji Wanmei said, "Anyway, I'm telling you, no matter who I marry in the future, I will never marry Yang Zhiping."
She said this with a resolute and firm attitude, her eyes shining with an unwavering determination.
Luo Chunyan, who was standing next to her, was stunned: "My god, do you hate Yang Zhiping that much? I think his conditions are actually very good. At least in Pingquan County, you can hardly find many people with better conditions than him."
Luo Chunyan is absolutely right.
If we only consider his qualifications, Yang Zhiping is twenty-two years old, in the prime of his youth, a graduate of a prestigious university, and both his parents work. His father is the deputy director of the Dongfang Factory, and his mother is an obstetrics and gynecology nurse at a hospital in a neighboring county. It sounds like he has very good qualifications.
But for Ji Wanmei, even if it were given to her for free, she would find it disgusting.
This kind of scum can be picked up by whoever wants him.
Ji Wanmei raised her head, took a deep breath, and a sarcastic smile appeared on her lips: "I would rather marry a hardworking and ambitious ordinary factory worker than have a hypocrite like Yang Zhiping."
This is almost a complete rejection of Yang Zhiping as a person.
Luo Chunyan was surprised again.
She thought that Ji Wanmei looked down on Yang Zhiping because her standards were too high.
