Chapter 20 The Girl Who Made My Heart Flutter for the First Time

The bicycle that came out from the angle was going a bit fast, and Ji Wanmei almost hit her when she ran out.

The man on the bicycle was very skilled; seeing her run out, he immediately braked, and the bicycle didn't actually hit Ji Wanmei. She was startled and stumbled backward before falling.

In this case, it was her own fault for walking too fast and being careless. If the cyclist had been forced to brake suddenly and fall, it would have been her responsibility.

Ji Wanmei smiled apologetically at the other person, "I'm sorry, I didn't notice you coming over. Is your car alright? If not, I'm in a hurry, so I'll be going now?"

Lei Tingjun stared blankly, scratched his head awkwardly, and coughed uncomfortably: "Uh, I'm fine... the car's fine too, are you alright? Did you fall anywhere?"

Seeing that he said that, Ji Wanmei smiled and said, "It's good that you're alright. Then I'll be going now."

After saying that, she hugged the insulated box in the cloth bag in her arms and ran towards the factory gate.

Lei Tingjun was mesmerized by that pretty and charming smile, and he stood there dumbfounded, watching the girl's light and quick figure leave.

She was slender and graceful, and when she ran, she was like a light butterfly. Her two dark braids fluttered in the wind with her movements, and her floral dress looked like flowers all over the mountains.

In that instant, Lei Tingjun clearly heard his own heartbeat.

But that day, Ji Wanmei, who was in a hurry to deliver food to her father, did not notice in the evening light that the man who almost hit her on his bicycle was Lei Tingjun.

So, in her previous life, many years later, Ji Wanmei still couldn't understand why Lei Tingjun would be willing to take the blame for accidentally killing Yang Zhiping and go to jail for ten years for her, when she and Lei Tingjun didn't actually have much interaction.

As a woman, Ji Wanmei could certainly sense at that time that Lei Tingjun liked her.

But what is the origin and cause of that liking?

This is something that Ji Wanmei has been trying to understand for many years.

Even now, as Ji Wanmei, reborn, sits by the window reading and tries to recall her interactions with Lei Tingjun before she turned eighteen, she can't remember many scenes.

The only thing she remembered most was that almost every time she went to the factory to see her father, she would see that roguish man with long legs, a cigarette between his fingers, blowing smoke rings, and silently staring at her with his deep, dark eyes.

Upon closer reflection, it seemed that it was always his few buddies who were making silly remarks and whistling; he had never done anything to her that displeased her.

When Lei Tingjun bumped into Ji Wanmei on the street outside the factory gate that day, Lei Tingjun had originally gone out on business.

But after staring at Ji Wanmei's back for a moment, he didn't go out immediately. Instead, he turned his bicycle around and rode to the opposite side of the factory gate.

He waited for more than half an hour and smoked several cigarettes before he finally saw the girl come out of the factory again.

Lei Tingjun was overjoyed. He thought she was an employee working at the Oriental Factory like him, or perhaps a newcomer whom he had never seen before.

Lei Tingjun immediately got up from the bicycle he was leaning against, and was about to go over and talk to her.

He's always been a man of action. He fell in love with that girl at first sight, and he immediately took action, pursued her, and confessed his feelings to her!

He lived to be twenty-one, and this was the first time he had ever fallen for a girl.

But before Lei Tingjun could take a few steps, he saw another broad-shouldered figure emerge.

That was Ji Xingguo, the factory director of their Dongfang Factory.

The beautiful young woman walked beside Ji Xingguo, and the two chatted and laughed, their posture very intimate.

Ji Xingguo's expression and tone towards her were very doting.

Lei Tingjun suddenly stopped in his tracks.

He watched helplessly as the girl and Ji Xingguo walked past the factory gate.

At that moment, Zhou Peng rushed over: "Boss, what are you still doing here? Everyone's waiting for you."

Lei Tingjun withdrew his gaze and gestured with his chin towards the two departing figures: "Who's that next to Ji Xingguo?"

Zhou Peng turned around and glanced at her. Although Ji Wanmei and her father had already crossed the road, he still recognized her at a glance and said, "Oh, you mean that girl? She's Factory Director Ji's daughter. She's our factory's famous 'Oriental Pearl.' She's a little beauty now, and she'll be a great beauty in the future."

Lei Tingjun remained silent and did not speak.

It turns out she is the daughter of Factory Director Ji.
