Chapter 24 Some People Are Gleeful

Chapter Twenty-Four

The news that Lei Tingjun and his group had beaten the deputy director's son so badly that he ended up in the hospital quickly spread throughout the factory.

This is the female employees' dormitory area.

The square-faced female worker with a mole on her face sat on the lower bunk, folding the clothes that had just dried in the sun. She said gloatingly, "That Lei Tingjun, he's always hanging around in the underworld, thinking he's fearless. Well, he's finally met his match! He beat up the son of Deputy Director Zuo and sent him to the hospital."

"I heard that Deputy Director Zuo is very angry this time, and has even taken it to the factory director. I'm afraid Lei Tingjun and his gang of brothers will lose their jobs."

"This is truly gratifying! Finally, someone can teach these hooligans in the factory a lesson!"

In the dormitory, the other female workers turned around when they heard what the square-faced woman said.

Someone said, "Actually, those guys just seemed like troublemakers, but they didn't really cause any real trouble. I used to work in the same workshop as them, and I always saw that they were quite proactive in their work and never slacked off."

"Anyone can put on an act."

"I don't know about that, but all I know is that Zuo Quangui and his gang are often late or leave early, and they always find all sorts of excuses to get people to work for them, but they count the hours as their own."

Anyone with discerning eyes can see who is really abusing their power.

Besides, if Lei Tingjun and his gang really acted like hooligans, why haven't we heard any complaints from the female employees in the factory?

But that Zuo Quangui would occasionally use some excuse to grope the fair-skinned girls in the workshop.

It's absolutely disgusting.

Moreover, the female employees knew that his father was Deputy Director Zuo, so they dared not speak out even though they were taken advantage of.

In this dormitory, there was a younger girl who had been harassed by Zuo Quangui. When she heard everyone talking about Zuo Quangui, she spat and said, "Zuo Quangui deserves it!"

Only the square-faced employee with a mole on his face was unhappy. He rolled his eyes and said, "Are you all blind? If those thugs from Lei Tingjun are kicked out of our Dongfang Factory, that would be doing a service to the people!"

The others ignored her as well.

"That Lei Tingjun, with that kind of background, he never does anything productive all day. If he gets fired from the factory this time, he'll be unemployed from now on. Heh, he might even turn to crime!"

That's practically cursing someone. How much resentment must there be?

She heard her roommate across the room give her a strange look: "Xiaofang, were you bullied by Lei Tingjun or something? You seem to really hate him?"

Xiao Fang's face stiffened, and she pouted, remaining silent.

How could she possibly tell anyone that she was the one who shamelessly asked someone to inquire with Lei Tingjun whether he wanted to date her?

Little did she know that Lei Tingjun didn't even look at her, and rejected her without even asking who she was.

After Xiaofang's coworker came back and relayed the message to her, Xiaofang was so angry that her face turned green!

She actually liked him, an orphan with no parents, and he still looked down on her?!

Therefore, from then on, whenever there were rumors of Lei Tingjun and his gang getting into fights or causing trouble, this girl named Xiao Fang would secretly gloat and hope that Lei Tingjun would be punished as soon as possible.

It would be best if he were fired from the factory and became unemployed.

Then he will regret how foolish he was to reject me without a word.

When the time comes, he'll come begging for another chance, and I'll humiliate him mercilessly.

Of course, all of the above are scenarios that Xiaofang imagined while gloating, and she hopes that day will come.

At that very moment, Lei Tingjun, who was working the night shift, had no idea that in the distant women's dormitory, a wicked woman was cursing him.

He had no idea such a person existed.

Lei Tingjun had no recollection of the incident that Xiao Fang remembered so vividly, which had made her grit her teeth in hatred.

One day, a coworker he didn't know came up to him and asked if he was single and if he wanted to be introduced to someone. Lei Tingjun coldly refused without even thinking: "No need."

That was exactly what he said at the time.

After saying that, he walked away and completely forgot about it the next day.

But it was those three words, "no need," that made a female worker secretly resent him for a long time.

Of course, this wouldn't have any impact on Lei Tingjun, because in his eyes, apart from Ji Wanmei, all other women were no different from roadside telephone poles.

Even if he were just passing by, he wouldn't give it a second glance.

His mind was completely occupied by Ji Wanmei.

The night passed quickly. He worked fast and made more parts than the other workers. If these parts were paid by piece, he could earn a third more than others.

When it was time to change shifts in the morning, Lei Tingjun went to the bathroom to use the toilet, then splashed cold water on his face and washed it, which made him feel refreshed and full of energy again.

That's the beauty of youth; even after an eight-hour night shift, you're still full of energy.

He tucked his review book under his arm and left the workshop.

I saw that the workers who worked the day shift were also coming to sign in one after another.

Lei Tingjun stood at the factory gate and saw Ji Xingguo arriving at the factory in high spirits.

He stood there for a while, then turned around and went back to his dormitory to change his clothes.

Then he left the dormitory with the review materials tucked under his arm.

He walked along the alleyway outside the factory until he arrived at the workers' compound.

Although Ji Wanmei said that she would come back to the factory to find him if anything happened.

Lei Tingjun misses her terribly if he doesn't see her for a day, and he can't feel at ease. He can't even sleep well when he goes back to sleep now. He can only feel at ease when he sees her.

He stood outside the courtyard wall waiting. It was a little after eight in the morning, and most people who were supposed to go to work had already left. There were hardly any people walking around in the courtyard.

But Lei Tingjun remembered that Ji Wanmei had said she didn't like him climbing over the wall, so he could only wait outside the yard to see if she would come out today.

Lei Tingjun, a tall man of 1.85 meters, squatted down by the wall, taking out a cigarette from his pocket and smoking it.

About half an hour later, there was movement in the yard.

Ji Wanmei slept until she naturally woke up. When she came out of her room, she saw the breakfast her father had prepared on the table.

Ji Wanmei smiled, sat down and ate slowly. After finishing, she cleaned up the dishes and took a wooden basin to the yard to wash her and her father's dirty clothes.

She had just stepped into the courtyard and hadn't even had a chance to sit down when a head suddenly popped out from outside the courtyard wall and called out to her in a slightly hoarse voice, "Ji Wanmei."

Ji Wanmei was almost startled before she realized it was Lei Tingjun.

What's he doing here so early in the morning?!

Could it be that he tried to bypass the firewall again last night?

Seeing her stunned, Lei Tingjun quickly explained, "I didn't climb over the wall. I just arrived half an hour ago. I just wanted to see you."
