Chapter 26 The Woman of His Dreams

As she approached the gate to her house, Ji Wanmei put her hand on the doorknob and remembered that Lei Tingjun had said he had worked the night shift last night and came to find her as soon as his shift ended at eight o'clock this morning.

He probably hasn't had breakfast yet, right?

He worked all night and was hungry. How could a grown man endure that?

"Have you had breakfast?" Ji Wanmei asked him, turning around.

Lei Tingjun was taken aback, and was about to tell her that he had already eaten before coming. Anyway, when he got back, he could just buy a couple of steamed buns at the staff canteen and that would be it.

He didn't want to impress her by saying he hadn't eaten before coming to see her.

Lei Tingjun disdained such methods—Sun Xiaojun and his gang loved to use these tricks to pick up girls, such as "I came to see you without even eating," or "I didn't sleep well all night because of you," deliberately putting on a show of deep affection in front of girls.

The Thunder Army looked down on those tactics and despised them from the bottom of their hearts.

Using these tricks to date shows a complete lack of sincerity.

Lei Tingjun is different. Even if he does a lot for someone behind their back, he will never say a word to ask for a favor.

He did all those things willingly, without expecting gratitude or thanks from the other party.

“I ate before I came,” he said.

But as soon as he finished speaking, his stomach started growling loudly.

When his lie was exposed, Lei Tingjun's face turned red on the spot.

He lowered his head awkwardly, not daring to look her in the eye. He scratched his head and continued, forcing himself to speak, "I... I really have eaten."

Ji Wanmei immediately understood that he was lying; his stomach was already growling with hunger, yet he was still being stubborn.

She then put on a stern face and deliberately said, "Lei Tingjun, do you know what I hate most? It's when people lie to me and deceive me."

Lei Tingjun was most afraid of Ji Wanmei getting angry, so he quickly said, "No... um, I'm not hungry, I'm really not hungry. You don't need to worry about me, you can go back first. I just wanted to come and see you."

Ji Wanmei frowned and looked around at the gate of the courtyard. She saw that there were hardly any people in the courtyard. Those who were supposed to go to work or school had all gone out, and those who were at home were busy with their own things. No one paid any attention to this place.

Ji Wanmei then said, "Come in, I'll cook you a bowl of noodles."

Lei Tingjun was stunned, almost doubting whether he was hallucinating.

He had never dared to hope for these things, but now Ji Wanmei said that she was going to cook noodles for him.

Lei Tingjun stood there, unable to move, afraid that he was just being presumptuous and that any rash action would earn him her reprimand.

Ji Wanmei walked straight into the courtyard. After a few steps, she saw Lei Tingjun still standing blankly outside the courtyard and said, "Come in. What are you still standing there for? If someone passing by sees you, I'll kick you out."

Lei Tingjun immediately snapped back to his senses. Before his mind could even process what was happening, his body took a step forward.

He walked into the courtyard, looked around, and still felt it was a bit unreal.

It was pitch black that night, the middle of the night, yet he still had the audacity to climb over the wall.

But now, Ji Wanmei herself called him in softly, leaving Lei Tingjun at a loss.

"Don't touch anything in the yard. These are all my dad's favorite things. I usually don't let him touch them," Ji Wanmei reminded him.

"Have a seat for a while. The noodles will cook quickly, in ten minutes."

As Ji Wanmei spoke, she went into the kitchen inside the house.

Lei Tingjun stood in the courtyard, not daring to go inside.

After all, it was just him and Ji Wanmei here, and they were at her home.

Lei Tingjun no longer cared about worldly opinions and judgments, but he had to consider Ji Wanmei's feelings. She was still an eighteen-year-old virgin, and it would be disrespectful for him to go into the house.

Lei Tingjun, who was fearless, had never been so well-behaved in his life. He picked up a wooden stool and sat at the stone table in the yard like a well-behaved kindergarten child, not daring to look around.

Soon, the kitchen was filled with the aroma of cooking.

The white boiling water was boiling, and Ji Wanmei stood in front of the stove, putting noodles into the pot.

A strand of hair fell beside her cheek, but she didn't reach out to tuck it behind her ear. White mist rose, enveloping her in its soft glow, making her look as beautiful as someone from a fairy tale.

Lei Tingjun sat in the yard, watching this scene quietly through the kitchen window.

This is the woman of his dreams, the life of his dreams.
