"So much, can we finish it all?"
"Eat as much as you can. If you can't finish it, I'll eat the rest," Lei Tingjun said.
No wonder he put in four eggs, Ji Wanmei thought, both amused and exasperated.
After adding the rice and stirring it a few times, Lei Tingjun picked up the wok with one hand and started tossing it.
Ji Wanmei, standing to the side, was very supportive, smiling and saying, "Wow, you can even flip a wok! You look very professional."
Lei Tingjun chuckled: "As long as you have the strength, that's fine. Fried rice is the first cooking skill I learned when I was a child."
Stir-fry quickly over high heat until the rice is plump and translucent, and the egg flowers are all coated with the rice. White steam and wok aroma begin to rise. Lei Tingjun then sprinkles in a handful of chopped green onions, and adds salt and soy sauce.
I used only the most basic seasonings, nothing else. I scooped up the fried rice and put it into two white round plates.
On the other side of the stove, the sausages in the pot were already cooked.
Lei Tingjun used chopsticks to pick up the sausage, placed it on the cutting board, sliced it, and then put it on a plate.
"Alright, just eat as is." He placed the food on the table.
Over at the workshop, someone heard the noise and smelled the aroma, and poked their head out of the window.
"Hey, boss, sister-in-law, what delicious food are you making? Is there any for us?"
Lei Tingjun gave a sharp look, and the head that was sticking out of the window quickly retracted.
Ji Wanmei ate with a spoon, while Lei Tingjun got himself a pair of chopsticks.
She ate in small bites, and Lei Tingjun put two slices of sausage into her bowl.
"I brought these especially for you, please eat them," Ji Wanmei said. "Actually, these sausages were made by my father himself."
Lei Tingjun paused in his act of putting food into his mouth, then looked up: "Your dad..."
“He doesn’t know I came to Pingdong City. I came without telling him.” Ji Wanmei poked at the rice on her plate with her spoon. “We feel that things can’t go on like this. I need to find an opportunity to give my dad a heads-up so that he can be mentally prepared.”
"Now?" Lei Tingjun paused for a moment, then asked.
"It's definitely not now." Ji Wanmei put a mouthful of rice in her mouth and thought the fried rice smelled pretty good.
She thought for a moment and said, "The spring semester is about to start, and the adult college entrance examination will begin soon. How about I tell my dad after you pass the exam?"
"I first told him that I had a boyfriend at East China University, so that he would have someone like that. Then I would find a suitable opportunity to gradually get him to accept it."
Lei Tingjun pondered for a while and said, "Meimei, you don't need to rush. As long as we can be together, I'm not in a hurry. What I mean is, we can wait two years until you graduate before telling your father about us."

Lei Tingjun said, "In the past two years, we have both worked hard. You have studied your major well, and I have managed my career well."

Ji Wanmei asked, "Why do we have to wait until I graduate?"
In their university, many senior students actually got married during their sophomore and junior years.
After all, people generally get married very early these days.
Men are 22 and women are 20. Once they reach the legally mandated age, they get married. It's a common sight on the streets.
