Chapter Three
Lei Tingjun overheard his underlings grinning and saying:
"Sigh, we bachelors can only admire from afar! She's Director Ji's daughter; if she's going to date, she'll have to date someone like Deputy Director Yang's son!"
"Alright, that's enough for you to dream about tonight. Stop fantasizing."
"Yeah, maybe I can hold that little waist in my dreams tonight and kiss her..."
Lei Tingjun turned around, his eyes coldly fixed on his underlings who weren't listening to him: "Watch your mouths!"
"What's up, boss?" the skinny guy leaned over and asked with a smile, "You're not letting us talk about the Oriental Pearl Tower, are you actually having designs on it?"
Lei Tingjun took out a cigarette case from his pocket, shook out a cigarette, lit it, and after a long while said in a low voice, "What, it's not working?"
The henchmen looked at each other, speechless.
It's not that it's impossible.
If we only consider physical appearance, their leader is broad-shouldered, long-legged, and imposing. He looks very powerful and incredibly strong. When working or fighting, three or five people are no match for him.
But...
As for other conditions, their leader doesn't have anything else to offer.
I grew up eating food from many different families, and I was an orphan with no parents.
When he was a child, he was fostered by his uncle and aunt. Later, his uncle and aunt were unwilling to support his schooling, so they sent him back to his grandmother in the countryside. However, his grandmother was frail and sickly, and an uneducated old woman. She could barely take care of herself, let alone manage the rebellious Lei Tingjun.
So Lei Tingjun dropped out of school when he was fifteen, before he even finished junior high.
At that time, the minimum age for factory workers was sixteen. After dropping out of school, he wandered around for two years. Later, his grandmother died of illness. He went back to hold his grandmother's funeral and then slowly settled down and found a job in the factory.
Given these conditions, how could Director Ji possibly be interested in him and give his precious daughter to him in marriage?
Only Lei Tingjun's brother, Zhou Peng, knew that the last time Lei Tingjun went to the county to drive a truck, he passed by a shopping mall and suddenly spent most of his monthly salary to buy a crystal hair clip for girls.
He bought the items, but I never saw him give them away.
I don't know who it was bought for.
When they go to the disco, the women who come out to have fun all want to dance with their boss because he is tall and handsome, but Lei Tingjun doesn't want to touch any of them.
But whenever this "Oriental Pearl" appeared at the factory gate, the boss would sit on the steps smoking and chatting like everyone else, but at that moment his expression would become exceptionally silent and focused, his eyes fixed on her.
And whenever he hears someone using foul language to refer to the "Oriental Pearl," he will become angry and his face will darken.
The skinny guy patted the leader on the shoulder: "Boss, let's just take a look and enjoy the view! With their conditions, they wouldn't even look at ordinary people like us."
Lei Tingjun finished half a cigarette in one gulp, blew the white smoke from his mouth onto the skinny man's face, and squinted his eyes: "Get lost. Since when did it become your business to interfere in my affairs?"
Ji Wanmei entered the factory and went to the factory manager's office, pretending to be looking for her father.
Secretary Xiao Zhang came over and told her that Director Ji was not here at the moment; he had gone out with Deputy Director Yang at noon.
Ji Wanmei knew, of course, that her father was resting at home.
She just came in to play a round on purpose, so she could turn around and go back.
Just now at the factory gate, amidst the jeering and jeers of the factory workers, Ji Wanmei was too embarrassed to go directly to talk to Lei Tingjun. Now, after calming down and thinking for a while, she realized that she shouldn't have left.
He was even willing to go to jail for her, and she just went to say a few words to him despite the jeers from the factory workers. What's the big deal?
After all, his living environment and social circle have always been the same. If she avoids him today, the next time she goes to see him, he will probably still be surrounded by a group of his underlings.
After giving herself a pep talk, Ji Wanmei took a deep breath and walked out of her father's factory director's office.
Unexpectedly, the group of people gathered outside the factory gate dispersed in just ten minutes.
Thunder Army is no longer there.
Ji Wanmei was immediately annoyed. She had come here specifically to see him, but now she hadn't even seen him or spoken to him. She didn't know when she would be able to meet him again.
In another month, she will be going to study in the city.
By the time she finishes reading and returns, who knows when or how long it will be.
Thinking about it this way, Ji Wanmei felt extremely annoyed at her hesitation just now.
She looked around for a while, but didn't see anyone, so she had no choice but to head back towards the staff compound.
Just as she reached the right corner, Ji Wanmei saw someone again.
Lei Tingjun and two tall, thin young men were talking under a tree by the roadside. After they finished talking, he threw his cigarette butt on the ground, casually crushed it with his foot, and his eyes instantly turned fierce.
Ji Wanmei suddenly remembered that in her previous life, it seemed to be during the summer before she went to college that a group fight broke out at her father's factory.
It was said that the children of factory leaders and the workshop employees clashed. She didn't know what caused it, but she had heard her father mention a few words about it. One of the leaders was Lei Tingjun.
—The most troublesome troublemaker in the factory.
Seeing Lei Tingjun's fierce, ready-to-fight demeanor, Ji Wanmei didn't even have time to think. She quickly took a few steps and called out his name from behind: "Lei Tingjun!"
Lei Tingjun was startled when he heard Ji Wanmei's voice. He turned around abruptly and stared at her.
He paused for a moment, then quickly reverted to his lazy, roguish demeanor. He raised a sharp eyebrow, looked Ji Wanmei up and down, and smiled, "What, Miss, are you calling me?"
