Chapter 330
Ji Wanmei and Lei Tingjun's train journey back from Guangzhou went very smoothly, without any further incidents.
The passengers in the same sleeper car were a young couple, and they were both very well-mannered.
Everyone got along well and quickly passed the twenty-odd hours on the train.
The next morning around 9 a.m., the train was about to stop at Huadong Railway Station to reach its destination.
Lei Tingjun pulled out two suitcases containing equipment from the luggage compartment under the bunk, while Ji Wanmei carried a handbag. The two of them got off the train together.
"I'm finally back. It still feels more familiar to me to be in my hometown."
Ji Wanmei stood at the train station exit, tilted her head back to take a breath of fresh air, and smiled.
"You've worked hard." Lei Tingjun rubbed the back of Ji Wanmei's head.
"I'm not tired, you're the one who's been tired these past few days." Ji Wanmei turned around and looked at him with a gentle smile.
He hadn't shaved during his few days away from home, and stubble had sprouted on his jawline.
Although he looked more manly this way, Ji Wanmei couldn't help but feel sorry for him when she saw the dark circles around his chin.
Lei Tingjun didn't care at all. He easily stacked the two suitcases together, dragged them forward, and said, "Let's go, let's take a taxi and go back to the attic at school first."
During the few days they were in Guangzhou, the renovation workers that Lei Tingjun found from Pingdong should have already finished decorating the shop. Now that they're back, they can directly stock up on goods and prepare for the opening.
Ji Wanmei planned to start the trial operation on the day after the seven-day May Day holiday when school resumed.
"Okay, let's go back first." Ji Wanmei and Lei Tingjun walked together towards the roadside outside the train station and hailed a taxi.
They were only gone for three days, but it felt like they had been gone for three months.
Perhaps, when you're with someone you like, time just flies by without you even realizing it.
It's not far from the train station back to East China University; it only takes about twenty minutes by taxi.
After arriving at East China University, Ji Wanmei did not return to school immediately, since the semester would not start until the day after tomorrow anyway.
These past two days, she has planned to stay in the attic and tidy up the shop.
The discs that Zhao Si sent back were packaged and shipped via freight, using express logistics. They should arrive tomorrow.
But tomorrow, Lei Tingjun will be returning to Pingdong City. His project can't be left behind for too long. He's been away for four or five days already, and it's time for him to go back.
After getting out of the car, Ji Wanmei quickly ran over and used her key to open the bookstore door downstairs. She saw that the bookshelves and wall shelves inside had been remodeled according to Ji Wanmei's original design drawings, the walls were painted spotless, and the assembled tables and chairs were all neatly placed.
Lei Tingjun personally recruited the workers, so they are quite reliable.
After the renovation was completed, they left early, but they didn't forget to clean up after Ji Wanmei.
Now, she doesn't need to bother cleaning when she comes back; she can just put out the goods and set up the store.
When Lei Tingjun saw Ji Wanmei open the door, he carried the two boxes into the shop, looked around, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and said, "So, are you satisfied with the renovation? If not, you can have them come back and redo it."
After all, neither Ji Wanmei nor he were present during the few days of renovation. The workers followed the blueprints drawn by Ji Wanmei, so it was inevitable that some details would not meet her requirements.
Ji Wanmei said, "I think it's fine. The workers are very meticulous. I'll take a look at the specific shelf arrangement after the bulk goods arrive at the store tomorrow. Let's leave it like this for now."
“Okay,” Lei Tingjun said.
Seeing that Lei Tingjun was sweating profusely, Ji Wanmei said, "Let's rest for a while. There's no rush."
Lei Tingjun: "No, I only have this last half day to spend with you. I'm going back to Pingdong City tomorrow, so you'll have to do it all by yourself. I'll try my best to do everything I can for you today, so you won't have to work so hard afterward."
Ji Wanmei felt both heartache and gratitude. Seeing a soda shop across the street, she said, "Then I'll go out and buy two bottles of iced soda."
As the weather gets warmer, and the sun is high near noon, a bottle of ice-cold soda can quench your thirst and cool you down.
Ji Wanmei spent two yuan to buy two bottles of orange soda, which was her favorite flavor.
While Ji Wanmei went to buy soda, Lei Tingjun had already taken the equipment out of the box and was preparing to connect the wires to start assembling.
Although Lei Tingjun didn't know much about electronic equipment, he did know some circuits.
He learned all of these things gradually through his life experiences. After working on construction sites for more than a year, he became a semi-professional in many areas, such as repairing circuits and car parts.
After all, no matter what industry you're in, you need to have a good understanding of it first.
Lei Tingjun moved swiftly and efficiently, quickly connecting the circuit, taking a power strip to the cabinet, intending to connect one of the DVD players to test the sound effects.
Ji Wanmei didn't buy the TV with the media player from Zhao Si; bringing it back would be too heavy and troublesome.
She discussed it with Lei Tingjun and decided that after returning to East China, they would find a TV brand and buy a color TV with good playback quality to use as a monitor.
We haven't bought a color TV yet, so we can only test the sound quality of CDs first.
When Ji Wanmei returned to the store with two bottles of soda, Lei Tingjun had just connected the equipment. He randomly picked up a CD, and following the instructions he had seen Zhao Si's underlings use and the manual that came with the equipment, he fumbled with the wrong buttons, opened the CD case, and put the disc in.
